I'm starting a PBEM details as follows;

CIV 4 Version 1.52
Map Type: Terra
Speed: Normal
Size: Normal

Im looking for about 4 -5 players to keep things smooth and easy. Im not going to start kicking off if you don’t play your turn in 12 hours or whatever. We can say 48 hours or if its going to be longer just let everybody know. Like I say in the title this is for players who want to play a turn once a night if possible and want an easy going game.

Let me know if you’re interested by replying to this post and I will add players on this list. I guess it’s a first come first served thing and we will see what happens. I can always add a couple of AI if needed.

Ok then we have enough. We will take the 7 people and see how we go. Normal sized map with no AI. I will pass around an e-mail later tonight with all the details. Turns will be with the order the list suggests unless anyone can work out the best way to do it (taking into consideration time zones). :)

I will try and get the game under way in about 6 hours or so from now.

I don't know... It's up to Orange, but it's only the first turn, so I wouldn't have issue with letting you join up.

So I will try to convert a partition to NTFS (all my partitions are fat32, because of old games and presence of linux), next re-install civ, etc... Maybe this will take some time, but hopefully all will be good after that.

Anyway - I belive that we should rearange the order of moves, not necessary in order of enlist in the game, but in order of GMT time - what do you think ? :rolleyes:

As you do it, I know we have no hurry, but would'nt it be a good idea to put a quicker speed? I'm afraid the 20 first turns will be very annoying. The best would be to have for example 2 settlers, 2 explorers and 2 workers at the begining (one can do it on freeciv), but in civ IV I don't know...

Im cool with the regular start... even tho my starting spot was real good last time... grrr..

I was pretty happy with my start the first time too! But it's worth starting over to get that AI replaced with a real player.

I had gold, cows, silver, crabs, and fish all visible already. It was a rare good start, but who knows what might have been hidden out in the fog...

Wasn't the settings for map put on BALANCED ????

Opened fine but for some reason it passed me the AI's turn to play?? Anyway that should not be a problem in the new game.

As I have understood, because you have put the "no cheat" option, civ try to look at modifications in my mods. But a partition FAT32 lists fics accordingly to their modification's time, and a NTFS one lists them in alphabetical order. And civ waits fics listed alphabetically; on my FAT32, because the order was not what it was waiting for, he was thinking I was cheating, and so closed the session...
The problem is where civ is installed, not where the backups are.


And I was not at all happy with my start, the worst one I think I never had. So for me it's a chance to have a new deal!

I finally got it. I played it and sent it to CrazyJoe within an hour. hopefully we can get into a better rythm with this game...

Maybe we could find some ideas to know quickly if and where the game is blocked (a little brainstorming please guys :scan: ) and how to react (I think we cannot continue to post on this thread "I got it and transmit it to ..." )

*- send the game with "delivery acknowledgement" (don't know the real english term, hope you understand) ?
*- send the game to the recipient AND to the referee (Orange gringo) ?
*- finding 1 (or more) substitute(s) who can play 1 turn if somebody has problems ?
*- everybody download an email client who can sort mails, so that a game don't fall in a spam folder nor is drowned in the 150 dayly love's mail of your many girlfriends ?
*- everybody take a jabber adress (or msn or icq if you really prefer private programs than free ones) to announce one have played/transmitted (for me, I play under windows, but receive mail under linux because I don't like trojans etc... , so I can't play and know a save is arrived without rebooting my pc... )
*- making an "orange game" login in civfanatics, whose every player knows the password, so as to increment a counter at the same place in this thread, when one send a save (and why not, joining the game's save)

Don't know if all that is possible...

After the first few turns, it really shouldn't be an issue. If we need to keep track of the turns, the easiest way is to cc: Orange every time.

Keeping track of it, however, will not make it run any faster. After the first few turns, we'll hopefully be alright...

ok people, recieved off joe but i have the same file as i recieved early in the week off joe.

Somebody has sent the wrong file somewhere. Im not going to send it on unless i have to otherwise we will all have to play the turn we just played again.

I sent the year 3960 to Cloudrain (looked in my sent messages folders). So the mistake was after me.

The turn may be with cloudrain. I know he is having some hardware problems at the moment but he has said he will leave all non-2player games. So we will just sit patiently and see what happens.

Seems so... ive sent it on to Niamor ages ago tho...

Last save for me was 3280 bc, sent to the replacer of Cloudraine the (04) 6th. Hope I did not make any mistake, but as I sent automatically from Civ, I suppose it arrived.
