I am new to hall of fame here. So please help me out with this even if it sounds pretty dumb.

I played under a duel and tiny sized map and submitted it. Now can i not again play this map and submit? This is not the same map i am playing again but a new random one generated under the same settings (like Tiny, Plains etc.)

Trying to submit again says the message that i have already played using the same map.. Thus if i get a better score, i can delete the previous Submission and submit again??

Are you sure you aren't submitting one of the save files from your old games?

The only reason it should say that is if the map (and I mean the exact map) has already been submitted. This could be if you save a map at 4000 BC, play it, submit, then play from the same 4000 BC save again and try and submit. It won't let you.

If it is a completely new map you may want to email the save files to dianthus and let him take a look.

I don't use it, but there is a start file checker. After you start a game and save the 4000 bc save you can click start file on the left hand menu of the HOF when you are logged in. It will make sure all the settings are right.

Welcome alias. :wavey:

You can play each random map once. The Start File (http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/user_startfile.php) option exists so you can verify your map before playing. When in doubt please check your map there.

If you create a new map random with same or similar settings it should be unique from the a previous random map and therefore acceptable. You can submit that map if you choose to. You cannot have more than two games in the top 10 for a given table, but the best two will be always be used.

If you are seeing a message saying you have already submitted that map, then I suggest making sure you haven't accidentially submitted the wrong save file. (I try to give each save for a given game a unique name so I can keep track of all the saves that go together. ;) ) Be cafeful when using the "regenerate map" option on the in-game main menu as it will not create a new 4000BC autosave file. You should always save your 4000BC turn manually when using the "regenerate map" option.

If you are truly able to generate the same random map multiple times I would suggest trying to reinstall. If that doesn't fix it, I would contact Take2/Firaxis support.

Thanks guys!

Found the problem. Actually like Denniz mentioned, i used the autosave 4000BC file for both games so its like i dont have the second game initial Autosave file..

Thanks for the info. Will save manually from next time and do.. :)

Though, seems like that 46k Prince game i played last nite till 2 AM went to waste..:shakehead

How can you call a game of Civ a waste? I'm sure you learned something, at least when to save :)

alias, go ahead and submit without the 4000BC save. We'll take a look at it. Include the earliest save you do have. Also, including intermidiate saves (ie. 1000BC, 1AD, 1000AD) are also helpful sometimes in validating a game.

Night? A proper game of Civ lasts through the night and into the morning, then you still go to work without having any sleep :mischief:.
