Hi. I'm trying to play my first PBEM with somebody. Any volunteers?:crazyeye:

never done Civ IV PBEM before, willing to play :-)

OK. 5 players for example. patch 1.52. All random. Level Noble. Send me your nick and e-mail. I think need no more.

From my limited experience (ie. one unfinished game) playing Civ3 PBEM, can I suggest everyone let Locutus know what time they will most likely be playing their turns. That way the players can be arranged in an appropriate order. I used http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc to convert to GMT.

FYI I will likely be playing my turns at about 9pm in Eastern Australia - which is 10am GMT (according to the converter).

The other option is for everyone to post to this thread at the time they will be playing. That way the order of posts should indicate the order of play.

I'm here also ( 2 PBEM game seems O.k. to play simultaneously ;) ).

sorry to reply late! I would likely play 4pm GMT or later 11pm GMT. Basically as soon as I get the email I will play and pass onto the next.

Having not done a PBEM with Civ IV I guess I just save the emails attachment of the saved game into my saved game folder, play it, then save and email that on to the next chap?

I have this sneaking suspicion I may have played my turn but forgotten to actually email the file on... At least it wasn't in my sent items folder.... So I've sent it on (again?). Sorry if I've caused a hold-up - I was actually wondering where the turn was... Whoops.

last I sent was "Biffa_to_Locutus_BC-3720.Civ4SavedGame" on 01/02/06 or that would be 02/01/06 outside the UK! (basically 1st Feb!)

That was my last turn also, having sent BC-3720 to Biffa. I've checked junk mail and the next turn doesn't appear to have been filtered out - not that any previous turns had been. So if Cloudraine has sent nothing more recent than BC-3720 then that leaves Mîtiu Ioan..?

My last sent file ( from Sent folder - which fortunately I didn't empty for a while ... ) was M_tiu_Ioan_to_Cloudraine_BC_3720.Civ4SavedGame. :)
And I receive nothing else from then ... :(

Locutus - not confirmed

Mike - Mike_to_Biffa_BC-3720
Biffa - Biffa_to_Locutus_BC-3720

Which means that Locutus hasn't received from Biffa (filtered?), or Mîtiu Ioan has not received from Locutus. Unless the date changes immediately after Biffa's turn? Is it Biffa or Locutus that sends a save with a different year to the one they received? :confused:

Hmmm ... AFAIK the year change after the last one move. This means after Biffa move.

Anyway ... let's wait for Locust response ...

Hmmm.... Well, I've resent my most recent turn to Biffa. If we just check one by one that everything looks in order, then hopefully at some point the next turn will show up. In the interest of fairness, be sure to play the exact same moves that you did before if it becomes necessary to repeat a turn.

Oh dear... Well, I guess we now have to PLAY the same turn and regenerate the same file and send it on (before I just sent on the old save). It can't go round more than a few more times until something changes... You may as well play and send it on Mîtiu.

Well.... That was less than successful.
