I've played a few games lately, and had an interesting situation: my first (or second) great scientist appears, and while I'm deciding where to build my academy, I look at what tech is available, and it's philosophy! I check the religion screen, and lo and behold, nobody has founded taoism!
I tend to get drama because it's nice tradebait -- it's worth enough that you can get good stuff for it after you trade away alphabet, and it can be nice to have theatres and culture slider when happiness is low!
Unlike, say, the code of laws slingshot, this one doesn't impede your early game at all, and it only takes one hop from alphabet to make available that's reasonable to take anyways.
Since I've never seen it mentioned on these forums, I figure either it's a good strategy and I'd suggest it to y'all.... or nobody's said anything because it's a bad strategy. ;) Either way, here it is.
