3000 - The English armies approach the Persian border with the intent to ambush the colonists, but they are reinforced with a regiment of rag-tag warriors. The English then establish a menacing position on the border.

2900 - More menacing ensues. Trade Pottery for Masonry with the Persians.

2800 - Our explorers chart the lands beyond the Persians.

2710 - Persians found Pasargadae on the coast close to whaling and cattle territories.

2590 - Qwglm is founded on a river close to gems. There is much rejoicing.

2550 - The English amass an army the likes of which the world has never seen before (2 warriors) with the intent to destroy the coastal city of Pasargadae.

2430 - Our explorers discover that we are on an island alone with the Persians. Our explorers also discover Kazakh barbarians. Much fleeing ensues.

2390 - The English simultaneously realizing they are out-armed against the Persians and are immenently going to be attacked by crazy Kazakhs, abandon the offensive and retreat to defend Qwglm.

2270 - Kazakh barbarians attempt to sack Qwglm and fail. Persian troops are roaming around in the mountains to the south however.

2230 - Realizing that the Persians have already learned the wheel, the king rallies the empires resources to learn the scientific feat.

2190 - Veteran warriors are sent off to confront the Kazakhs. Qwglm king dies.

The Persians are hurting us in a number of areas. I'm not sure we can compete with them scientifically, and they already have more cities than us. We might need a couple more settlements than raise an army to attack them. I don't think I helped much during my rule. :(

1525 - Our injured warrior near Presipolis is killed by a Persian warrior

1500 - Archer completed in London. Sending him to Pasargadae. Switch production to worker to bring horse into London.

1475 - A Persian warrior ambush our warrior near Qwglm. Our warrior is now regular and without a scratch

1450 - Former injured warrior now fully healed and moving towards Pasargadae with archer right behind him. Worker completed in London and start to build road towards horse. Switch production to Spearman.

1425 - Archer completed in Qwglm. Production switch to Spearman.

1375 - Spearman completed in London. Once again producing Archer.

1350 - Pillage horse tile at Persepolis. Pasargadae DESTROYED!! Captured a settler which become 2 workers. Road to Dye near London completed :cooool:

1275 - Archer killed one Spearman in Presepolis. Archer completed in London, switch production to Wealth to counter -ve cash flow.

1250 - Presepolis CAPTURED!! English have yet to lost any unit! Woohoo!! :D

1200 - Persian Warrior & Archer slained while try to recapture Presepolis. Archer fully healed and marching towards the las Persian town - Susa. Horse is now brought into London and production of Chariot begin. Qwglm start to produce temple while the 2 captured workers arrived at Qwglm to improve the surrounding areas.

1100 - A barbarian warrior appear next to Presepolis. However, Presepolis is now defended by our Spearman unit from London. Chariot completed in London and sending to former Pasargadae site to look for Barbarian Camp. Susa DESTROYED and once again our small army of 2 warrior and 2 archer is victorious!! Persian is no more!! And we captured 5 workers in the process

I will end my turn while I am ahead. ;)

Dark Sheer
Feb 02, 2002, 08:25 AM
With the Persian eliminated it looks like the English own the island now ;)

Whoever is up next should start to build settlers and claim the spots previously taken by Pasargadae and Susa so we can bring gems into the Empire. :cooool:

My modded game has make this one look so easy. In my mod every unit need a population point which make it so hard to go to war at the early stages. ;)

Next goals -
Confirm it is a island, there are small parts of the map we can't see.

Cancel the English chariot for Pyramids - However, it may be to late.

The big question, how to build the lighthouse? NO coast cities!

Pre-turn
Switch London to Pyramids. Probably to late, but I would prefer the AI not have it. Won't help us a lot.
Switch Qwglm to settler. We need a town to build the Great Lighthouse.
Whip a settler out in Persepolis - it is hopeless corrupt.

1000 BC - Blow away a barb camp. I suspect we will see a lot of these until we get more cities. A barb horseman kills our spearman - costing us a raid of 57 gold :(
975 BC - Blow away a barb camp. Why does this sound familiar? York is formed - our first coastal city. Instant growth via a worker.
925 BC - Blow away yet another barb camp. Start mapmaking - we need galleys and the GL.
900 BC - Well it is confirmed - we are isolated on an island.
750 BC - Yet another destroyed barb camp.
650 BC - Nottignham is formed - lousy location for now, but it will have production and is a coastal city.
Summary - Once map making is completed - Nottingham to galley. York to Great Lighthouse. We need to get off this island!

570BC - Pyramid completed in Paris. London switch to temple. :(

550BC - Eliminated Celt barbarian near former Pasargadae.

470BC - Settler in Presepolis completed, switch to temple for the moment. Settler send to former Susa site for another new coastal city.

450BC - Settler completed in London. Sending settler to settle near horse just outside London border.

430BC - Hasting founded at former Susa site.

410BC - Canterbury founded at SE of London.

350BC - Berlin completed Oracle

330BC - Discovered Mapmaking. Now researching Iron Working. York switch to Lighthouse. Its going to take 71 turn.

250BC - Destroyed another barbarian camp.

Dark Sheer
Feb 03, 2002, 03:03 AM
A worker is on the way to connect the road to Hasting to bring in gems. If gems is in then we can have higher productivity due to 1 extra happiness. :D

From the look of the map the island can easily support another 4-5 cities. I suggest we build at least 2 more settlers, 1 to take the spot of former Pasargadae and another to settle near the 3rd horse tile on the island. Several units is now fortified in a few places of the island to reduce barbarian appearance. ;)

Pre turn
- Galley rushed at Nottingham.

170bc - Temple started at Nottingham.
150bc - Iron Working researched. Horseback Riding next (4 turns).
70bc - Qwglm finished settler. Temple next. HR researched. Code of Laws next (8 turns).
50bc - Temple rushed in Persepolis
30bc - Persepolis started settler.
10bc - Settler started in London. Coventry founded in the best location ever seen.
70ad - Settler left London. Settler rushed at Persepolis.
90ad - CL discovered. Mysticism next. Settler left Persepolis. Warrior being built.
110ad - Warwick founded SW of London.
150ad - Gems connected to main road net. Rushed temple at Qwglm.
170ad - Mysticism discovered. Philosophy next (5 turns). Paris completed The Great library.
190ad - Delhi finished the Great Wall. Iron connected to road net. Newcastle founded over horses.
210ad - End of my turn.

We're very slow in science. We need to meet other civs. I lost a galley trying to find a continent next to our own. Hopefully will finish The great Lighthouse. Otherwise we'll spend most of this game trying to keep up to date. Before anyone says something, irrigation works in bonus tiles even under despotism. That's why i irrigated the cow at Persepolis. We should use the city as a rush center. Good luck to the next player.

Here's a take at our continent.

Pre-turn
Hastings is hopelessly corrupt - switch it to temple.
Cancel a mining project oustide of our cultural borders.

260 AD - Next reasearch project is literature. We need libraries to help with our research. France is already dangerous with its probably tech lead.
280 AD - Our new galley begins a search for signs of another civ.

290 AD - The mining pays off. 2 turns saved on the lighthouse.
300 AD - BITE ME! Our Iron source depletes.
330 AD - Next research project is Republic. We need all the help we can get with the economy.

340 AD - Oxford is formed. Whip the courthouse out in Persepolis.
350 AD - Persepolis begins the FP. 150 turns to completion.
380 AD - Make that 99 turns to FP in Perseoplis after is expands to size 3.
390 AD - Send a galley on a suicide run, we need first contact soon.
400 AD - It would have been nice to live 1 turn!
Summary - Great Lighthouse in 4 turns. We can safely travel the second water level. Patch doesn't allow ocean travel However, we can jump out 2 squares and back - looking for signs of land.

i.Psychosis
Feb 03, 2002, 01:27 PM
450: The Mad One takes up residence in the castle of London.

460: Horseman complete in London, sent to garrison in nearby city for MP. Another horseman is ordered by the Mad One in hopes of gathering a small invasion force to get the hell off this rock.

470: The Mad One, and aptly named, boards the lone galley on an apparent suicide mission. Northward! At ocean now. Alive and well.

480: The Great Lighthouse is done! We enter a Golden Age! A galley is begun to take advantage of the new lighthouse. Our scholars finish work on the Republic. They get right to work on Math. And so the Mad One sows the seeds of this new government style amongst the people.

As of yet, our suicidal galley has yet to sink in the ocean. They spot land!

490: We find what appears to be a dinky little island, with a whale.

500: Confirmed. We have found a speck of dirt near a whale.

510-530: The Mad One rants and raves about the small speck of dirt. "I can't believe we made it all this way to find nothing!"

540: The Republic begins! The suicidal galley is sent west in hopes of finding a larger rock for us to settle on.

550: A settler is begun in London to grab that nice piece of land near the chariot on the south tip of England.

560: Alas, word from afar (carrier piegon?) brings news of the galley's demise. Two new ships will be available in ten years. Workers head toward Oxford to connect our only unconnected city.

*************************************************

This seemed like a good place to stop. After all I died on the ship. ;)

We are in a golden age! I did a little rearranging during the anarchy to keep people happy. I looked them over again when we broke free. I'm not to comfortable with micro-management during a Golden Age just yet, so I wanted someone else to take a crack at it. Plus, the Super Bowl is gonna be on soon. :D

560 AD Preturn:
Back down the science rate to avoid depleting our not-so-mighty coffers

570 AD:
We discover Mathematics, and start Construction.
New galleys are sent out exploring. Rumours of a reddish line in the seas to our north need investigating.

580 AD:
More worker movement

590 AD:
London and Persepolis revolt, I send in the entertainers.

600 AD:
The red border belongs to the Babylonians! The first thing our sailors notice is that they have a black metal in their hills that our wise-men have only claimed existed! (Can't believe we got stuck on a rock with no iron!) We have nothing to trade to them except gold at the moment. They have Construction and Polytheism, Contact with Zulu, Japonese, French, Indians and Germans. Sounds like the other civs have been having a party and forgot to invite us ;)

610 AD:
Our second Galley was lost in trecherous waters! So close to a sea square too..

620 AD:
We learn Construction and research Currency.
Oh no! Our other Galley was lost. That'll teach me to try to avoid pissing off the babylonians.. should have stayed in their waters!

Founded Liverpool.

How rude, Hammurabi greets us: Greetings Elizabeth, Ruler of barbarian England! Why I have a mind to... ooooo they make me soo mad... :) We trade territory maps. They wanted 50 gold for their world map. I was curious, but not that curious :) Surprise, Persia is on their own island as well.. Hmm 2 sources of Iron.. interesting. And a city on another continent..

630 AD:
More building

640 AD:
Zzzz

650 AD:
Coventry revolts. Provides entertainers.

(10)660 AD:
Researched Currency, Started Polytheism.

670 AD:
Dover is founded.

680 AD:
Our civilizations Golden Age has ended! Bad news for our treasury..
Our science rate is backed down to 4.

690 AD:
Worker Movement. Zzzz

700 AD:
We discover Polytheism and research Feudalism.
We hear Leipzig completed the Colossus.
Babylonians are starting SunTsu! We are sooo far behind here..

710 AD:
Brighton is founded.

720-750 AD:
Uneventful.

760 AD:
Norwich is built in the center of the island to fill in several gaps.

Build more roads, hook up gold and gems near Norwich. We need the money!
We are almost caught up in the tech race but not there yet.. The Babs have Monotheism and Feudalism already..

A stranger from a strange land appears, and the English are in awe. He promises great things , exploration, miltary expansion and assure the England will be number one. Elections are held and President Garson is elected. So begins the chronical of his term of office.

Inheirted turn - Switched work force in York to no growth max shields will not be able to grow until aquaduct is done. We need troops, our southern cities and nearly bare. Switched Nottingham to Harbor was building a spearman without a barracks

770 AD Great news iron has once again been discovered in our fair land. It is located in the mountains near Qwglm and is all ready connected via roadways. The temple is finished in Oxford ordered a courthouse. Galley finished in Warich ordered barracks we need more vet troops!!

780 AD Watched the workers clear jungle.

790 AD More worker movement. London finished courthouse ordered . Ordered spearman, Feudlism is discovered. Decided on engineering next we need saltpeter for our UU. Science lower to 40% still gives us engineering in 18 turns and adds 15 g to our treasury each turn.

800 AD Disorder in Nottingham, hired an entertainer to make them happy.

810 AD More worker movement, trying to get a gold mine finished near Warwick.

820-830 AD Disorder at Liverpool at only size 3 ??? What's with that? Oh it is not connected to our trade network. Must make that a priority. Bumped Lux's to 10% drops us to 5 g per turn buts help all over England.

840 AD Barracks finished in Warwick ordered pikeman. Worker produced in York, ordered pikeman.

850 -860 AD Pikeman finshed in London, ordered horseman. Received word that Babs are building Sistine.

870-890 AD Qwglm finishes Marketplace, order worker. York finished Pikeman ordered worker. We've got lot's of work to do.

900 AD President Garson term of office completed. English are now Number 1 on the Histogram, but the Babs still have us beat in culture. The galley in the Eastern sea is looking for more land. Move it out two squares and back might get lucky. We'll have engineering in 6 turns, I've managed to get pikemen in some of our cities, still need a few more in the south. We are very weak there. All was quiet on the diplomatic front, might want to check in with the Babs to see what they are up to.

Good Luck to the next ruler! Not much change in the world view didn't feel it necessary to post screen shot. Attaching the file.

900AD - Lord Dark Sheer once again back in power in the house of common.

910AD - Disorder in Oxford. Some disidents against the rule of Lord Dark Sheer I guess. Given some entertainment to stop disorder.

920AD - Upgraded Spearman in London to Pikeman

960AD - Discovered Engineering. Now researching Monarchy. Traded Engineering for Communication with Indians & Germany from Babylonian. Traded Engineering & Worldmap with the Germans for Monarchy, Cmmunications with Zulu, French & Japanese. Traded Engineering for Monotheism with the Japanese. England is now almost on par in science. :D

1010AD - Forbiden Palace completed in Presepolis.

1040AD - Hanging Garden completed by Babylonian in Ur.

1060AD - Traded World Map & 145gold for Theology from France. We need to catch up on the tech!

1100AD - Lord Dark Sheer step down from power to take some good R&R. ;)

Looks like we are on par with everyone else on Tech now. No one has anything else to trade to us other than Chivalry which we can do without at the moment. Our income is pretty good under republic and it seems we are one of the richest Civ. Most of the town is currently either building Library or Marketplace.

Next, we can either concentrate on tech for a while and continue to develope the infrastructures or we can build up our military and plan for some action against Babylonian. However, as we only have galley, invasion might be very hard to sustain. We should try to upgrade our military as soon as the gold is higher. And one last thing, we are one more tur n to discover invention! ;)

Dark Sheer
Feb 04, 2002, 09:46 AM
According to the mind reader Military Advisor of ours, we seems to be only behind of Japanese in term of number of units and on par with Zulu and Babylonian and ahead of the rest.

There doesn't looks like there is any more space left for colonizing. We should try to get a good look at German's map (Bismack is the only one refuse to trade map with us but is polite  )

Here is a screenshot of the minimap in game.

Pre-turn
We need more workers! I switch Perseplolis to Cathedral so the it can keep growing. It is a key production city, and I want it larger. I buy the Germany world map for $76. I don't know what he was hiding?
1110 AD - The palace expands. Disband out of date military (archers, warriors and chariots). Producing more workers.
1120 AD - Establish embassy with Japan. Sistine chappel in 22 turns. Forget that one :(
1130 AD - Establish embassy with Delhi.
1150 AD - Establish embassy with Germany. Forget Sun Tzu. We are really getting screwed with the wonders this game.
1160 AD - Selling world map to everyone. Gain enough money to establish and embassy with the Zulu.
1170 AD - GACK. Babylon is competing with us for the Workshop.
1180 AD - Establish embassy with France.
1200 AD - Establish the final Embassy with Babylon.

1210 AD - Start research on Banking, with Economics next. Our best hope is Smith's. Sun Tzu is completed.
1220 AD - I up science to 50% with a -2 turn loss. Like I said, I want Smith's.
1250 AD - Trade education to Japan for Chivalry, World Map and $36. We need to keep the tech game going! I must be doing something right - The palace expands again :)

1255 AD - Japan tries to extort us - I tell him to pound sand, and he declares war. WHO CARES. He can't get to us! Babylon beats us to Leo's.
1265 AD - :flamedevi: OK, I am nasty and at NO COST - Zulu declare war on Japan :flamedevi:
1270 AD - The palace expands a third time. Germany complete the Sistine chappel.

The palace is a place holder for Smith's Switch when possible.
Summary - I think I help us a lot. Embassies with everyone. Much more of the world known. Working force getting reasonable.

We do need more culture producing buildings.

1285AD - All is quiet. Trade Banking with Babylonian for Music Theory plus Alliance against Japan.

1290AD - Quiet.

1295AD - German asked for Music Theory. We rejected the threat and he backed off. Traded map instead.

1300AD - Started JS Bach in Coventry.

1305AD - Quiet.

1315AD - Japan & France now at peace. (France seems to be at war with lots of people?)

1320AD - The people expanded the palace in celebration of Lord Dark Sheer's rule.

1325AD - Discovered Economy and work started on Smith's Trading Co as planned. Palace again expanded. :cooool: Now researching gunpowder.

1330AD - Quiet. Palace once again expanded.

1335AD - Quiet.

1340AD - New Iron discovered new Dover. Now we have 1 spare source (road not connected as we don't need it yet). ;)

1345AD - Discovered gunpowder. Babylonian already has gunpowder before us! The good news is we got two source of saltpetre (but need road). Next researching Astronomy so we can explore some trade routes.

1350-1365AD - All Quiet.

1370AD - Quiet. But Palace expanded again.

1375AD - Discovered Astronomy. Now researching navigation. Japanese start building Copernicus!

Either London or Qwglm should try for Copernicus next turn as both is about to complete their production next turn.

This is becoming too much a two player game.

I want somebody new to play.

Yup, I gotta agree on that ;)

While I always see people saying they would like to join a SG, no one wants to take on this one

1380AD
Joe accedes the English throne and orders the construction of Copernicus' Observatory in London and a Bank in Qwglm.
Surveying the map he considers betraying the Babylonians and slaughtering them for the sake of the Empire. However Japan are the only real threat due to their expansive nature...
Wow second in Power and second to last in Culture, still once Navigation is discovered trade should make us rich!

Mines completed in Qwglm, workers sent to irrigate near Warwick as its growth is stagnant.

University ordered instead of Aqueduct in Newcastle as growth isn't expected for some time...

1385
German commence an Observatory!
Mining gems near Norwich.

1390
Japan and Babylon sign peace treaty
Babylons commence Observatory!
May switch from Smith's if neccessary...

1395 Forest ordered cleared near Persepolis to make way for irrigation through to Newcastle. This should allow use of the mined gold and gems in Norwich also.

1400
1405
Germans commence JS Bach's!

1410 Navigation discovered, target set for Theory of Gravity. Democracy seems little benefit in this small Civ, and Newton's will boost science.
Peace with Japan - we get world map and all their Gold...6.
Japan - 10/turn for Dyes
incense for gems + 40 gold
Babylon - 5 + 6/turn for Gems
India have nothing to offer, the others have no harbours!
We're now reaping 44 gold per turn.

1415
1420
Japan demands Music Theory obviously refused and they declare War...Knew I should have traded on a per turn basis...

1425
Japan destroy the Zulu!
Bank completed in Warwick, University ordered.

1430
India demands Dyes...refused, but no war declared

1435
Persepolis completes Adam Smith's Trading Company!
Banks completed in Oxford and Hastings.
We're now getting 81 gold/turn.
To get trading with the others it might be worth taking Grenoble with a few knights.
Wall street now available

1440 At last recognition! I get the West Wing in the Palace...

1450
Boosted science by 10%

1455
Indians commence Observatory, but we'll be complete in 9 turns
Wall street commenced in Qwglm (nothing else to build)

1460
Nottingham in disorder

1465
Babylonians commence Magellan's

1470
Oh dear, Japanese off the coast of Dover: We will fight them on the beaches!

120 gold from french for dyes.
3/turn for gems from french
60 + 3/turn for dyes from germans
6/turn +map for gems from germans
map, 19 + 5/turn for dyes from babylonians

Right I'm wimping out now before the Jap's get us.
Apologies, I've saved at the beginning of the turn rather than the end...:king:

1470 - 1500 AD
Hurried a couple of knights in DOver and another city

Japan land a Sumari near Dover he destroys road
We finishe off the worthless invadors using our hurried knight, he gains experiance and becomes vetran..
there is not barraks in most cities
we talk to all the other civs to join the war aginst the agressors in Japan.. we teach them banking so they can finance their war.

NOW Japan is a common enemy to the rest of the world

Another landing in the NORTH!!!! near nottingham.. Lucky we got knights in London.. they fend off the attack

We Sell chemistry to the civilized world..
we get wines and 15/turn from Babylon..150 + 28/t fromGermany...15 + 5/t from India... 40 + 10/t + world map from France.. We hope they are really fighting Japan since we dont seem to have a real army.. we are building baracks and knights everywhere.

during the above 30 years the observatory was completed and a couple of universitys rushed.

1505 we complete JS bach boy oh boy ppl rejoice .. together with wine our cities hail for the king

1510 everyone is building Magellan

1515 another Landing near hastings we defended victoriously.. we now know how to make cannons ..

1520 Discovered Magnatesim target is Military tradition then we will have power to go on offensive. maybe a Golden age too.
another surprise landing near Hastings again.. this time two samuri..

1525 We finish one of the samuri hurt the other but lose a knight in the process.

I desicide that I have done enough damage
:(
I resign and leave it for someone with more experiance...
we are making 52 gold /turn and discovery every 4 turns in time of war .. wow thats a good game you have here :goodjob:

I am sorry for the crappy english I am usually better at this..I should proof read. Hope you understand .

1525AD - Lord Dark Sheer once again back in the seat of power in England. A quick look around the empire tells him that the English forces is a little on the weak side. A few spearman has been quickly upgraded to Musketman.

1530AD - The lone samurai is quickly dispatched off by our knight. Several knights are completed and Newcastle starts to build Magellan (or as a place holder ;) )

1535AD - Babylonian landed some units on our island.

1540AD - Babylonian declare war on us!

1545AD - Babylonian forces dispatched off. English continue to build her military. Military tradition discovered, now researching theory of gravity.

1550AD - 1st Man-O-war completed in Coventry! Japan and Germany signed peace treaty.

1555AD - Upgraded most knights into Calvary.

1560AD - Quiet

1565AD - Discovered Theory of Gravity and going for Steam Power next. Another Man-O-War completed and starting to build some Galleon for some possible invasion. ;) Japan sue for peace and pay us 40gp. We traded Dye and Gem for Furs and Incense with the Japanese.

1570AD - Palace again expanded and people all over England celebrating the end of war with Japan (Its noted that the Japanese kingdom do not have any iron).

1575AD - Sank a Babylonian Caravel.

1580AD - Quiet

1585AD - Sank another Babylonian Caravel.

1590AD - English Man-O-War go on a high sea chase for the last Babylonian Caravel.

1595AD - Sank the third Babylonian Caravel. And what do you know? Our admiral just reported the sighting of another Caravel off English coast.

1600AD - Lots of trading to increase our treasury which is running very low.

1605AD - Destroyed Babylonian's iron source with bombardment.

1615AD - Quiet as our galleon sail towards Babylonian shore.

1620AD - Quiet.

1625AD - Our forces landed next to Ur. Finally bring the war to Babylonian land!

1630AD - The English army is victorious!! A Babylonian Frigate is sunk! Ur is captured and with it comes Hanging Garden! English did not loose a single unit and another galleon with 3 calvary and 1 musketman is heading towards Ur as reinforcement. Lord Dark Sheer step down from the seat of power and lost himself in the newly acquired Babylonian garden. ;)

Here is the savegame.

No seriously it's the most obvious territory to take - see my first post.

Without the land, we can't generate a competitive economy vs. the Japanese.

Well, in 1655 the game locked up on me. I have been having some problems with Civ3 in the last week. I will do a reinstall later today or tomorrow. But for now I must pass the game.

Here are my notes from looking at Dark Sheer's save of 1630AD:

Before ending turn:
Finances are not in the best of shape. We need to get our treasury up from the current 50 to above 1,000 so we aren't wasting the interest potential of Wall Street.
Trade gems to France for 7 gpt
Drop science rate 10%, increases income by 70 gpt and only increases next tech by one turn.
Take all cities off wealth production. Highest shield producers are started on factories.
Qwglm production changed to granary, it will be a great shield producer but needs some help in the growth area. Same with Norwich. Both cities will be switched to factories when granaries done. Workers will change some of the mines around these cities to irrigation so they can grow and get some of the high shield hills/mountians working for us.
Also changed some of the other cities production orders.
After all cities are off wealth production we are at net income of 60 gpt.
Wake Galleon in Ur and send it back towards the mainland, we need to get troops over to Babland as soon as possible. Also woke the caravel in Canterbury and moved it into position to load troops next turn.

Good luck to the next leader. I hope it is my computer that caused the lock-up and not something in the savegame.

Damn! I lost my history..

Summary of 1635 - 1655:
I follow previous leaders advice and set production accordingly.

Ur flips back to Babylon but I take it again. Lose as couple of muskets in the process. Only Cavalry holding the fort now.

More troops land in Ur.

1660:
More troops land.

1665:
Newtons University completed in London.

1670:
The Babs throw a couple of knights at our Cavalry stack. They prove to be touogher than expected.
We sink a Bab Frigate.

The Babs now have Riflemen also..

The Babs ask for an audience. They want peace, offer Democracy, 11 gold per turn and 4 workers. We turn them down.

Japan wants to cancel Fur and Incense deal. They were getting Gems and Dyes. We renegotiate the exact same deal!

1675:
Attack on Babylon is repulsed with no loss of units.
We sink a Bab Frigate.

1680:
Repel attacks, troop movement back home.
A Bab Frigate sinks our Man-O-War!

1685:
Discover Sanitation, Research Electricity, bee-lining for Theory-Of-Evolution.

1690:
We lose another MoW! Our Admiral is hanged at the Yardham of our remaining warship.

We take Akkad!

1695:
Troops approach Ashur.
An idiot Galleon Captain moves right next to a Bab Frigate! The 4 Cavalry divisions hang the Captain, as the Babs open fire!

Our captain is rescued as the Bab frigate sinks to the bottom of the ocean! Other Bab ships pass right by!?

1700:
Troops approach Ashur, fail to take it. A conscript Rifleman kills one Cavalry.

1705:
A large force of Knights attacks and destroys a couple of Cavalry in the stack by Ashur.
A Bab Galleon sinks our last Man-O-War!?!
We take Ashur!

1710:
War Weariness hits our cities. It also hits our valiant leader.

The war didn't go as well as could be expected.. Maybe Meldor did better?
In any case, we now have 3 Bab cities. They have a fleet of galleons and warships outside Ur wating for our Galleys. We have 1 Ironclad to surprise them with however, and another on the way.. Put it to good use!

The Babs will make peace now if you want, or continue the war.. Up to the next leader. All Bab cities are in danger of flipping still.

Aim towards Scientific Method and ToE.. free tech! Keep an eye on Japan, they are big now. Babylon has one city on the Japanese mainland somehow..

King Brian retires to a villa in Norwich. Good luck to the next leader!

Feb 09, 2002, 10:51 AM
Wow, the war that started with me seems to be going well! If we intend to hold on to the Babylonian cities we should go for Babylon and push their capital away from the newly captured cities to reduce chances of flipping. Those coastal cities are just too close to Babylon.

Of course, if we can't hold on to the newly captured cities then raze them! We can always send new settlers from the English mainland to build new ones later. ;)

Preturn -
I change Oxford to factory, I want to up our production. Upgrade 1 spearman to rifleman. I play the factory gambit in London. It burns down our cash, but we will get Universal suffarge a lot sooner. I drop science temporary to speed up rebuilding our cash, plus we have a LOT of military to upgrade.

We trade France Theory of Gravity for Democracy, World Map, 122g and 1gpt.
We trade Germany Medicine for Free Artistry, 70g and 15 gpt.

1715 - Decide the #1 railnet goad is to have all cities connected, rather then improve certain cities.
1720 - Kill 2 bab calvary at no cost. Babylon sings an MPP with France. Research begins on Scientific method. I want the free techs from ToE. Play dirty pool, and sign a MPP with Germany giving up Steam Power. We can't win with the current empire size.
1725 - The big highlight is capturing 2 bab workers.
1730 - A bad turn, as Babylon kills several Calvary. Upgrade several units to rifleman.
1735 - War between France and Germany :)
1745 - GACK! Babylon takes back Ur.
1750 - Upgrade more units, however at $100 / $120 a unit, this will take awhile.
1752 - Force to up the luxury rate again. One good piece of news with the war. Our Ironclad in Cantenburry sinks yet another ship. Ur is ours again, thanks to newly arrived cannons. In one of my hardest decision in a while, I give Japan tech that he demands. War with Japan = death, or Germany MPP and Japan gets larger. He is still annoyed. Give free map, still annoyed. Give $150, and he is polite. Begin research on Atomic Theory. Hoover dam in the hands of Japan = disaster.
1758 - Not the best deal, but I give Germany Iron for Spices. However, anything the builds up a civ near Japan ...
1766 - We get a great leader - Edward! No question what to do, form an army. Japan declares war on Germany. The MPP backfires! :(

Summary - This is a real challenge. There is a real danger of losing to Japan.
Keep upgrading our troops, just keep cash above $1000 for the Wall Street interest.
When Persepolis finishes ToE, start a palace to queue up for Hoovers. We MUST stop Japan from getting Hoover.
I am starting to have sucess vs. Babylon - we need cannon to soften them up
Next up - Whomever claims the spot.

I got the game and I will try my best for the next 20 turns. ;)

Dark Sheer
Feb 10, 2002, 02:24 AM
1774AD - Lost a calvary on the mountian to a Bab calvary but that Bab calvary is soon dispatched with.

1776AD - Continue bombardment on Babylon

1778AD - Bombardment continued. Killed another Bab calvary near Ashur. Another 2 appear near Ashur.

1780AD - Captured Babylon! Our Army is totally useless at the moment due to the damages and had to rest. The good news is we now have Leonardo. :D We also captured 4 workers in the process.

1782AD - The 2 Bab calvary near Ashur turn to attack Babylon but only manage to do one damage to our rifleman. This 2 calvary is soon dispatched by our newly arrived Rifleman and Calvary in Babylon. MPP with Germany expired and Bismack do not wish to continue. Germany do not have a port to trade with us?

1784AD - Attack on Ashur by Bab once again failed and our calvary picked off their injured calvary. ;) Hero's Epic completed.

1786AD - Killed a Bab calvary foolish enough to come near Babylon. 3 fresh Calvary arrived at Ur and send to the frontline.

1788AD - Killed another Bab calvary near Babylon as it tries to attack our newly arrived fresh calvary and our calvary is now elite. Picked off a bab frigate with our ironclad in Ur.

1790AD - Universal Suffrage completed in London. Now producing Rifleman. Peace with France and they paid us 20gp. Sold them dye for 5gp/turn.

1792AD - ToE completed and discovered communism and Espionage. We are now researching Sanitation so our cities can grow beyond size 12 to grab all the productions we can. Babylonian seems desparate as they send conscript riflemans towards Babylon while bypassing the stack outside their new capital, Nineveh? We picked off a regular rifleman outside Babylon and a regular calvary near Ashur. Also manage to kill 2 rifleman in Nineveh.

1794AD - Picked off a few units near Babylon and killed another rifleman in Nineveh.

1796AD - Upgraded all defensive units to Rifleman. Continue to pick off stray units near Babylon.

1798AD - Continued to picked off stray units. Our army arrived at Nineveh's gate.

1800AD - Continued to picked off stray units. Babylonian is losing badly in the war of attrition.

1802AD - Finally captured Nineveh! Gained 3 bombardment units (2 canon and 1 catapult).

1804AD - Discovered sanitation and going for replaceable parts. Lost 1 Ironclad to a Japanese Frigate. Keeping 3 Calvary in English Island to prepare for a Japanese attack.

1806AD - Forces marching towards Eridu.

1808AD - Bombardment and counter-bombardment started at Eridu. Germany declare war on us for not giving Communism.

1810AD - Battle for Eridu started. Killed off 2 rifleman but Bab seems to have a few more.

1812AD - Killed another 2 rifleman and we captured Eridu! Most of our units need rest at the moment.

Babylonian left 3 cities and they have lost their 2 saltpetre so no more calvary. Looks like our only choice is to quickly finish off Babylonian on the island than sue for peace. After that we should take on Japan (hopefully, as they are strong!) 2 injured rifleman just arrived at Nineveh. We should send our uninjured units in Nineveh together with the cannons towards the next target. And lastly our income is only 11gp per turn but we have close to 2000gp when we need to upgrade our rifleman to infantry in about 8 turns (if we have rubber that is :p)

Here is the savegame. Good luck to the next leader!

Inherited turn. Japan bombards our main island with many frigates, destroys roads to our iron supply at dover

1) 1814 1 Japanese frigate sunk, babs sunk one of our ironclads. Workers sent to once again connect our iron. Japanese Galley being escorted along our coast by a frigate. Japanese sink one of our ironclads in their counterattack.

2) 1816 Japanese frigate sunk. Newly build cavalry units dispatched along coast to watch for Japanese landing, take defensive ground landing spots away. Ellipi held by rifleman with 1 health left. Ellipi receives reinforcements during bab turn

3) 1818 Japanese cavalry near Liverpool quickly dispatched. Ellipi defense still barely adquate to our assault. Great Leader produced outside Babylon, sent to Akkad

4) 1820 Japanese frigate sinks our ironclad without taking one hit. bab frigate sunk, our ironclad down to 1 hp left

5) 1822 Wines and Gems traded to France for 12 gpt. Rushed barracks at Eridu

6) 1824 The last longbowman in Ellipi finally surcumbs. Samarra falls. Pushing forward, the armies of the mighty English empire are ordered to attack Uruk, and it also falls under our control. In one bold stroke, we have taken complete control of this island. Peace treaty offered, they give us their treasury (16 gold), their world map, and an alliance against Japan. (This might be a mistake, their only city is surrounded by Japan, and has no chance of survival, but if they are eliminated from the game, we don't have to worry about their cities flipping back to them.)

7) 1826 Replacable parts learned, Electronics ordered up. The end of the babylon war causes many WLTKDs

With the Babylonian problem taken care of, ShadowLord slips back into the darkness, awaiting the arrival of a leader worthy of leading the mighty English in their crusade against the Japanese.

Our Navy has yet to move, the next leader can decide where to best place them. Germany refuses to talk to us yet, and our agreement with Bab still has 19 turns, preventing us from making peace with Japan until then, or the Babs are destroyed

At this point, this was an EXCELLENT move. :goodjob: :goodjob: Our position is still bad, so I am hoping Japan will take that city ;) At least Babylon won't be a problem for us.

Zed the First, a commoner, arises to power in a bloodless coup after being discovered in a Fish and Chips store in London complaining about the lack of Chinese food on the entire planet.

He surveys the situation and gets to work:

Turn 1. Leader (Boudicea) loaded on Galleon for Canterbury. Entertainment cut to 20%, science up to 50% saves 3 turns for electronics. We have a damn dam to build after all. Still netting a profit. Shifted troops on former Babylonian territory to quell resistance in Uruk.

Meanwhile, the Japs turn the last Babylonians into yesterday's news.....pissed Babylonians figure better Angle than Yellow, and start to mellow out.

2. London starts Battlefield Medicine. Reset some/all entertainers for shield and income boost. Clean some toxic waste up. V-J Day finally - peace with Japan, cost us 60 g but it's worth the lower entertainment costs. Germans are still dicks. Trade dyes for furs, wines for 32 g/t with Japs. Push sci to 60%, net loss of 15 g/t but gets us closer to science.

3. Boudicea hangs around Qglm complaining about the drunkard who named the place, waiting for someone to start blocking up the river. Zed sends a group of Cavalry to "convince" the Germans to negotiate. Hurried Uruk Temple now that resistance has ended, produce settler next to help fill in some gaps in Babylon.

4. Landscapers touch up the palace grounds. Zed decides to let them live long enough to finish, even though they still haven't got any Chinese food for him. Dover starts hospital. Germans see the cavalry, get a clue: Straight up peace treaty. Trade dyes for 7 g/t, dropped entertainment to 10% now that there's peace in my day. Treasury netting +78, hired some hookers for Canterbury and York to take their minds off working. Established a spy in Kyoto - Japs have a bigass army right now, so Zed orders riflemen and ironclads, and occasional cavalry, under auspices of Operation Fortress Britannia. Zed hires CIA to spy in Germany, and the morons get caught. Germany declares war over it, the dicks.

5. Scandal known as Berlingate ticks off the people, lots of WLTK celebrations end but no unrest. Hurried temples in Nineveh and Ellipi to close cultural gaps. Some cavarly sent back towards Germany to help with persuasion efforts. Ironclad begins shelling of Germany's only connected incense (2 squares sharing a common road path to Berlin).

6. Operation Fortress Britannia continues - military buildup proceeds full force where nothing else can be improved on. Ironclad HMS Lucky Strike knocks out the road connecting German incense. Germans are incensed by this but can't do much about it. Japanese still outnumber us in both Cav and Riflers :(.

7. HMS Lucky Strike turns a German Galleon into an offshore reef-diving attraction. Germans send settler to try and lock in incense again, and some saltpeter a couple squares farther inland. Zed sees a plan start to form in his head. Hits on Joan of Arc, since Tokugawa's an ugly dude, and gets 7 g/t and her phone number in exchange for dyes, but wishes she looked more like Jane Wiedlin in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Feeling kinky, Zed teaches her how to use hidden cameras and other espionage techniques in exchange for ivory, 16 g/t, 40 lump, and her world map thrown in as a special gift. Zed figures helping France is a good idea, since together France and Germany could give Japan fits later on down the line. Zed hears that Berlin institutes the draft.

8. Joan gets uppity, demands medicine. King Zed tells her the sores will go away on their own and so should she since the football game's on. She whines a bit but obliges. Ivory shaped like rounded cylinders penetrates the kingdom, and many WLTK celebrations occur - some more literal than others ;). It's good to be the King.
In other news bored workers cleared jungle for no good reason other than they had nothing else to do. Palace architects add a second story to the East Wing. More hurried temples in former Babylonian territory. We figure out what a vacuum tube is, mastering electronics, and start corporation.

9. Boudicea institutes slave labor at Qglm - no one can complain to the King b/c they can't tell him the name of the place where the slave labor's occurring. Boudicea gets the Hoover Dam finished fast...and dies in a slave revolt and becomes permanently embedded in the dam next to Jimmy Hoffa. About half the riflemen get cool new tin hats and start calling themselves infantrymen. Zed decides to back off on the spending spree for a bit and let the treasury rebuild.

10. A settler goes to Canterbury with an infantryman to resettle up on the North Island.

11. Zed decides moving the Palace to Uruk is a good idea. It's going to take a long time, though, so he's left it as a placemarker if his successors decide not to follow through. British cav land near Konigsberg. Town of Leeds founded. It's a little tight, but can take advantage of the coast for growth and of the now-mined mountains and saltpeter for money and shields.

12. Tokugawa wants a diamond ring. Shotgun at his back, Zed agrees, hoping for an annulment after 20 turns. After all, he's got a few more rings waiting back at the Love Shack/Royal Palace. Londoners figure out how to stick band-aids on wounded soldiers in the field. Scientists start learning to refine. Palace architects smoke crack, finish second story of West Wing in record time. Japs start to pull away in the histogram. We have tech lead, and they're a democracy so an extended war would be hell on their production, but they have more land and production facilities. Zed considers rushing tech to tanks and starting a lengthy war, maybe even dragging the French and Germans in on our side (or at least the French). Zed sees a period of Cold War on the horizon - Japs and their German allies vs. Britannia and their French friends.

13. Completed Army, some cav to fill it up. Pillaged improvements around Konigsberg. Germans still being dicks. Massive pollution outbreak after Mexican Fiesta night at Denny's across the nation.

14. Cut Germany off from horses with HMS Lucky Strike. Founded North Zedburgh way the hell at the top of the country. Looks like there might have been Babylonians there once, but they ain't there any more ;).

15. Lose 1 cav to Germans. They're still dicks. Heidelberg, also called land of incense, is razed by Brit cav with no losses. Cav jump back onto galleon, raise middle fingers to the German rifleman/2 cav army that came after them. Attempt to cut off spices near Konigsberg fails with 1 cav lost. Founded Reading as port city very close to French lands, short distance from Germany/northern Japan. Galleon tries to do an end-around and moves the cav north from Heidelburg to Berlin.

16. Lost 2 cav to Germans near Berlin, 3rd retreates to galleon. They're still dicks, so Zed orders more cav and an army to Germany to continue cutting improvements, and to cut spices from the German trade net. Divorce settlement with Joan comes through, Zed gets 6 g/t for the diamonds from France. Refining finished, 2 sources of oil found, near York and Brighton.

17. Building police stations to cover war weariness just in case, since (say it with me) the Germans are STILL being dicks. France gives 13 g/t for coal. Cavalry army lands at Konigsberg.

18. Germans get a clue, ask for peace. We get peace, 90 gold (their treasury), and a FREE WORLD MAP. We trade them dyes for 5 g/t. Suckers...the CIA wound up costing them 90 gold and all the stuff my military wrecked :). Japs have 3 oil available, 1 connected (but not refining tech yet as far as I can tell). Forces in Germany retreat by transport to Reading or back towards Nottingham. Renegotiate wines to 35 g/t from Japs, left dyes for furs intact as is.

Zed the First steps down after public scandal involving Joan and an Ivory Cigar Tube.

What was left behind.....A settler is waiting in Canterbury. I recommend sending him to the silks near Isandlwahna - there's a landing force in position. A forced harbor and walls there would give us a beachhead to Japan as well as 1 silk for us and 1 extra. I had begun using peacetime to pump a little cultural improvement since the Japs are adding culture faster than we are. We've gained on them in power thanks to Operation Fortress Britannia - about as many cav as they have, plus we have most of our riflers upped to infantry, while they still have a lead in total numbers. I figured a strong home military would keep the Japs in line, and could be converted to offense pretty easily.

I tend to pack cities a lot tighter than you've established right now, but I didn't want to get too overzealous with it since someone after me might have to waste time dismantling the "extras".

Overall, I'd say productive turns. No real opportunity to put a hit on Japan. But if the next up decides to go for the silks, would they be so kind as to name the new town Pearl Harbor? ;)

I think space race is our only real non-historical shot at victory, although there's an outside shot that by rolling over Germany and France we could get a domination victory, using German and French territory to start hitting Japan. I don't see this working until Mech Infantry, if not Modern Armor, though.

Enjoy!

1872 - Assemble infantry army in Oxford. Load settler and accompanying force bound for the silks on the Japanese continent.

1874 - Attempted to evacuate cavalry army from German and Japanese territory, diplomatic crisis ensues and forces our army further inland into Japanese territory.

1876 - Learned Steel, researching Combustion. Managed to evacuate our troops from Japanese territory after another diplomatic crisis.

1878 - Our source of ivory is lost. Civil unrest in Babylon, Ellipi, and Eridu.

1880 - Creating ironclads and shipping troops to the Japanese continent.

1882 - Pollution strikes at Oxford! (Things are rather uneventful.)

1884 - Pollution at Coventry. Our military size is starting to tax our resources. In response I'm changing some of the town productions to wealth since there's nothing left to build but more military units.

1886 - Our settler finally sets foot on the Japanese continent. Lord Qwglm scoffs at his predecessor's recommendation of calling the town "Pearl Harbor" and instead calls it New Qwglm!

I think that's about it for me. I've mobilized a great deal of forces into our new town, all that needs to be done is build a wall, a harbor, and begin attacking. I leave that to my successor. I would also recommend moving some of our workers to the Babylonian island since it is sorely needed and work is more scarce on the British isle.

One more thing, be aware that Coventry is set to building Wealth.

Preturn - Nothing to change!

1886 AD - Start research on Mass Production. The Pentagon is finished.
1888 AD - ARGGGGGGGGGG!!! I cancel several goto ships.
1890 AD - Double ARGGGGGGGGGG!!!, I missed some goto ships.
1892 AD - 4 more workers land in Babylon. We still need more.
1894 AD - We dropped science to 20%. Mass production takes one more turn, but we make 500 and turn. We need to get out of the cash deficit. We have a lot of units to upgrade, but no money :(
1898 AD - The palace expands.
1902 AD - Thanks to the cash surplus, all of the troops in former Babylon are upgraded.
1910 AD - Flight research begins.
1918 AD - The GERMANS declare war on us. Idiots - the don't kill a single unit in New Qwglm. Wait to they see the counter-attack. :flamedevi: I give Japan gems for a ROP. It will make it much easier to attack Germany.
1920 AD - We destroy ALL of the attacking German calvary. Our Calvary army takes Hannover. :die!:
1922 AD - We kill a German Calvary army! Begin research on Radio. :die!:
1924 AD - We take Stuttgart - Our calvary defeats a spearman
1926 AD - The big transport stack arrives - we finally have enough infantry on the other continent. Hannover renamed to LeeVille in honor of General Lee and his army that took it. We give France $400 and silks for Ivory. This is to avoid War Weariness.

Summary - New Qwglm has a ton of troops. We have a good tech lead.
Diplomatic Victory is OUT! However, WE must build the UN.
Space race is very possible.
Domination - Maybe, not a lot of turns left.
The is a army waiting to be formed in New Qwglm.
Tank army in progress in New Qwglm. You need 2 more tanks
Our biggest problem is a lack of a rail net from New Qyglm to Germany. I have more workers heading that way. Keep them guarded!
[dance] We have 6 armies. Some need to be loaded it troops, but ... [dance]

Next up - Whomever claims the spot.

Preturn:
War with the Germans, and they are coming up on Panzers!?

Do NOT move armies with the group move in patch 1.17f. It breaks them!

1928:
Brian surveys the empire. It has grown much since his ancestor fought the now defeated Babylonians.

Japan now controls most of its continent, but Germany and France both have good sized empires. War with Germany. Rumours have it the Germans are developing a more powerful tank than what the English have. They must be stopped.

Heidleberg is taken by our Cavalry! No losses although there are a few damaged units.

1929:
We lose one cavalry in a counter attack.
Heidelburg is demonstrating! We send in entertainers.

1930:
Lord Brian orders an airport be built in Leeville so that units can arlift over to the war front.

Armies of Infantry and Tanks head towards Berlin!

1931:
3 German cavalry kill 3 of our cavalry in Heidelburg! Infantry will put a stop to that.

We kill a conscript Infantry in Berlin with a cavalry!

1932:
Just moving troops into position.

1933:
More of the same. Heidelburg is protected from counterattack better now.

1934:
Pay for airports on the Japanese mainland and Babylonian Province :D Troops sitting around doing nothing will now be able to move into place. Science rate dropped temporarily to get treasury back up to 1000+.

We take Berlin in a bloody battle and take control of Sistine Chapel and the Oracle!

1935:
We lose our supplies of Fur. Japan now wants Dyes and Sanitation in exchange for Furs. I turn him down but offer our world map as a gesture of goodwill. Tokugowa is now polite.

1936:
More troop movement. Airdrops into Leeville.

1937:
We discover Radio, enabling us to enter the Mondern Age! We study Fission to get the UN.

Rioting starts due to War Weariness due to the loss of Furs and War Weariness. Ur, Ashur, Akkad.

1938:
Leipzig falls! We now control the Colossus!

1939:(ignore this turn)
More war.. No cities taken.

1940:(ignore this turn)
More manouvering. Next target, take out their Saltpeter supplies.
Now may be a good time to get France and Japan to set up an embargo against Germany.. No more rubber for them.

Fission in 9 turns or so. then we can start the UN. No place holder set up for it, I forgot.

Oops, forget 1939 and1940, I forgot to save it. I'll just leave it at 1938..

Inherited: Heidelburg swithced to temple and rused. Stuttgart temple rushed. New Qwglm switched to library and rushed. LeeVille switched to library and rushed.

1940

1942 Munich captured. Hamburg captured. Cologne captured.

1944 Nuremburg captured. Rouen and its supply of furs captured.

1946 Besancon captured.

1948 Rheims captured. Frankfurt captured.

1950 Konigsberg captured, Germans are destroyed.

The last turn is mostly unplayed, just enough to take Germany out completely. Domination victory is quite possible, there are 100 turns left, Japan/France have a little under 50 cities total, that is only taking 1 city every two turns for conquest. Japan is still 275 points ahead of us though.

1950 AD -(half completed) - Switch Newcastle to palace, to secure the UN.
1951 AD - Troop movement toward France.
1952 AD - Adding transports toward the French island.
1953 AD - Ecology research begun, as I want Modern Armor.
1954 AD - Newcastle switchs to UN. Due in 12 turns.

1955 AD - Settlers on the way to fill in the gaps.
1956 AD - We lose an oil source, we have 2 left.
1957 AD - FillerCity is formed. Want to guess is reason? Rush a temple in Berlin, I want every squre in our control.
1958 AD - Oops, sorry France, I didn't mean for all of those troops to cross your borders :flamedevi: Rush a temple in Konigsberg. We could use a source of spices.
1959 AD - Our Calvary defeat a bowmen, and take Orleans. Grenoble falls. Birmingham forms to fill in more border gaps. Lyons falls, and I get to watch ships sink  Destroy a large stack of French crap units by Rheims.

1960 AD - Tours falls. Marseilles falls. Richmond and Exeter are formed, lets fill in the borders. Rush a couple more temples.

Summary -
Don't have a UN vote, we LOSE!
Goals - Kill France.

Next up - Whomever claims the spot.

Zed the Second takes over and decides Theodore Roosevelt was right - Speak softly and carry a big stick.

In other words, f*ck diplomacy :).

1961 - Preturn, lose 1 cav near Poitiers. Turn: Took charge of military campaign against French. Took Dijon with no casualties, advanced on Paris, Avignon, Chartres. Hurried Temple at Orleans, Changed Rhiems to settler to help with gaps.

1962 - Continue tank/infantry/bomber production, airlift to Leeville as airports permit. Chartres taken at cost of 1 tank. French counterattacks at Tours and Avignon repulsed (heh - longbowman again mostly), 4 artillery captured. Avignon captured for 1 tank, Temple at Lyon rushed. PARIS taken - starvation induced as 9 of 10 pop are resistors. We control the Great Library, which no longer looks all that great.

1963 - Advance on Cherbourg and Amiens. Begin shifting bombers and artillery to potential Japanese theater.

1964 - Cycle of bombers and battleships built. Amiens collapses under English pressure with no losses and with the debut of Lord Nelson, a great Leader. Tank Army created at Oxford. Chartres and Filler City temples rushed. Workers begin building rail and road at borders of Japanese territory to facilitate initial strike. Cherbourg falls with no losses. Ecology still 2 turns away, science dropped to 30% until eco done.

1965 - Land fresh troops on Poitiers Island. Begin moving ground troops to border towns of Japanese territory. Lord Nelson hops the ferry back to London to hurry production of something.

1966 - Ratfink bastard Tokugawa declares "surprise" war on us. He forced our hand but looking at the histogram it's not surprising. It's probably his only chance at that point. Anyway, we lose 2 workers and 2 tanks in initial assault, they lose 6 cavalry. We complete the UN - and decide we'll be the ONLY security council, and we don't need any general assembly to vote ;). Science bumped up to 50%, entertainment dropped to zero. Reduced entertainment doesn't hurt us, because....French eliminated at Poitiers. We lose an Army of cav to SuperInfantryMan in Islandawandlha but we still take the city, denying silks to Japan. City renamed Iwo Jima because that other name's too damn hard to write down. Japan loses two weirdly mixed armies to our tank and infantry armies. Japanese assault spearhead is at Fuller City - 2 armies, about 14-15 cavalry, and a few scrubs. Assault is blunted with heavy artillery and bomber barrage - both armies destroyed and all cavalry reduced to 1-2 HP each. Ground forces destroy almost all the remaining attack force. Zed notices the Japs only have 2 saltpeter sources and the light bulb goes on :mwaha:.

1967 - Japs pull out from Filler City and shift towards Bapedi/Heidelburg/Iwo Jima. Japs lose cav army to our tank army in preturn. Quick check shows Japs went from 44 cavalry to 10 since 1966. Hlobane taken along with two Jap workers. Airport started at Hamburg as a backup to Leeville in case a stronger Jap force approaches from the South, although rail network should keep things from getting ugly. War prosecuted with EXTREME prejudice. End of turn, Japs down to 6 cav and 1 army from 5 armies and 44 cav a turn ago.

Domination victory or Conquest vic in my sights, although Leader is still around for rush of Apollo Program if someone wants peace and a space race win. :P Zed orders his generals to aim for the Saltpeter supplies. Former French areas nearly filled in.

1968 - Intombe taken, renamed Pearl Harbor. One saltpeter cut off, BB's on the way to bomb the other near Izumo. Japs tried retreating from Heidelburg fiasco (same results as before - all units heavily damaged by artillery/bombing before even attacking), lose 3-4 more cav and 1 infantry. Resistance at Hlobane ends, renamed Midway, temple rushed there. Pop numbers in Jap cities plunge - they're still a democracy but they're conscripting like mad. Cambridge founded near Paris to fill in the only remaining large gap.

1969 - Minor thrust by Japs at Pearl repelled easily. Resistance in Pearl ends, Japs showing cracks like the top of a plumber's pants.

Creepy - just like real life, the Japs took a gamble against a larger but only partly prepared foe, and just like real life they lost it. Sometimes this game's just a tad too real ;).

69 continued - Mpundo throws up SuperInvincible HentaiDemonVagina Shield - 4 artillery and 3 bombers all fail completely, followed later on by another 4 bombers also failing. But battleship shells cut Japs off from last Saltpeter source :mwaha:. Bapende taken, renamed Solomon. Swazi taken and razed - Solomon, Pearl, Midway can be forward air bases, Swazi not needed. By the end of '69, Japs down to 78 infantry from 96, still 6 cav. Zed considers using the leader to rush the Manhattan Project and nuking the Japs into oblivion, since no one's left to complain ;). Decides not too since Japs have multiple uranium sources and I'd hate to give them the opportunity for revenge, even though technologically I don't think they'd have time to reach fission.

1970 - Ulundi taken, renamed to Guadalcanal. Mpondo's shield fails, Mpondo taken and razed, moving on to Chittagong and Lagash.

Pre-1971 - SOB Jap ironclad appears from nowhere and sinks transport that had gotten away from its escort, we lose 5 artillery. Other Jap ironclads cause minor coastal improvement loss.
1971 - Readjusted Homeland Security, shifting bombers and DD/BB picket line to cover more of coast. War machine drives towards Chittagong, Lagash, Zimbabwe, Tugela, and Ngome. Ngome is a priority as it leads to Izumo, and last saltpeter source for Japs (a worker is currently trying to rebuild the road).

1972 - Jap Mighty Morphin' Ironclads sink 2 DD's and a BB. Must have planted bombs in 'em before the war or something :P. Improvements repaired, new tank army started. Founded Okinawa near Mpondo's former site. Tugela falls.

1973 - Japs go Red - communism becomes the watchword of the day. Ngome falls, Zimbabwe falls. Tank army lands at Hyderabad Island.

1974 - Yokohama captured, Lagash razed. Izumo loses all infantry defense, has one longbowman left (although it will probably conscript next turn).

Zed turns the reins over to someone to finish it off after a successful, if warlike, rule :).

You have massed artillery ready for deployment at Guadalcanal, and a bit more scattered in the most recently captured cities. Most of it is being moved with the infantry as the tanks continue the blitz. I've been making a couple waves of infantry to free up tanks from garrison duty. Couple temples could be rushed, resistance in I think zimbabwe just ended. We have 1 turn to synthetic fibers and modern armor, I suggest computers next for Mech Infantry, although it's pretty much a done deal. I suggest capturing Chittagong and Bremen, then linking the main battle groups along the Bremen-Yokohama-Izumo line for a push South to Tokyo. Then swing the gate and drive West to finish them.

I cracked their back. Who wants to slit their throat?

Pre-turn
I rush a temple to continue to close the border gaps. I drop science - It delays Modern armour 1 turn, but we the faster we close the border, the sooner the game ends. I watch a bunch of Japan calvary self destruct.

1975 AD - Rush 3 more temples.
Izumo captured. Chittangong captured with an ironclad in port. Hyperabad is captured, and I watch 3 ships sink! A no brainer, next research = computers.
1976 AD - No significant battles. 2 more temples are rushed.
 I watch the most pitiful attack I have ever seen. A longbowman kills a tank
1977 AD - UN elections  Can you say stalemate? Nagasaki is captured - we get some catapults???? - I have no idea why, be we get extra wide culture borders.
Nagoya falls, and we pick up some more workers. Karachi falls - more free workers. Bremens falls - even more workers. The tank army I found sleeping in a port  lands on the continent.
WTH? Pearl Harbor flips????
1978 AD - We recapture Pearl Harbor.
Bengal captured - We destory another ship in port. I think I have killed almost as many ships in port, as at sea. Lahore is so close, we take that with the tanks we didn't need for Bengal. Gloucester formed as we continue to fill in any gaps.
In a fit of silliness, Japan lands a single Longbowman on the ex-Babylon island. Jaipur falls.
Rush a couple more temples.

Summary - This one get have much longer. Not a lot of Japan cities left. Many cities waiting for border expansion (temples built).

Well, that was some great job guys!

To consider how humble we were at the beginning, sharing a small island with the Persians. And how we eliminated the Babylonian in the mid game. At the very beginning we thought that the only way to win was UN or Space Race. And now with a final domination Victory.

All I can say is every player involved did very well :cooool:
