check out this video (http://www.bushflash.com/wmf/wheretoattack.wmv). It's basically this fella walking around US streets asking Americans who the USA should invade next.

Priceless is not the word.

Who are viable and appropriate targets, according to the yank on the street? Well, here we go:

Saudi Arabia
Iran
ITALY
FRANCE
INDONESIA
SRI LANKA
THE WHOLE OF THE MIDDLE EAST SHOULD BE TURNED INTO A GLASS CRATER

and so on

Jesus Christ! France, by the way, should be invaded because they're not America's allies. I guess these people really believe the Bush mantra "You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists".

Next we have geography. The surveyees are asked to put numbered flags on the map where they think these countries are. For some reason, Australia is a popular location of Sri Lanka, Iran, etc.

Does this not speak volumes of the US way of life, and the US state of mind?

Warned for trolling/bashing.

BUT you can do that in any country, ask enough people and you get silly answers. Simply edit away the "boreing" answers. A good example is "from the mouth of babes" in FHM.

BUT it does seem the US in general is quite introspective, and doesnt really have much thoughts on the rest of the world.. but i think i can take a stab at why..

ITS SO DAMN BIG!

They can experience every ecosystem, experience almost every style of tourism all within their own country. No language, sanitation, food, security worrys. Who cares whats over the fence if you have all the toys in your yard, and your grass is GM green goodness :)

That's true.

I just remember an interview at the daily show where the guy of the big chin (don't remember his name) asked a woman on the street which country is at south of North Korea and the woman said something like "Do you think I have a Ph. D. in geography, or something like that.

It was so funny. :rotfl:

Its not the footage that gets to us. US shows do the same stuff all the time. Its just the fact that someone uses this lighthearted humor to flame Americans.

It should also be mentioned that the ones that are aired are just a fraction of interviews they shot. The rest is cut because the person doesn't give a silly enough answer or ignores them.

Bozo Erectus
Jan 20, 2006, 09:51 PM
The source is also a factor. The only thing on Zulu's mind, judging from his threads, is how evil America is. Taken in that context, the thread isnt that funny at all. Sad, maybe.

I think everyone needs to get over their Nationalistic pride and realize that it means very little to nothing...

We're all the same in terms of differences in the genetic code...were's all smart and we're all iditos, and yes, we live in different countries in different states or territories, but above all we live on earth, and until people start realizing the bigger picture this type of bashing will go on forever.

sysphus is right. We should certainly be able to handle some serious teasing, and frankly some downright sincere disgust, at the typical American's lack of geographic knowledge. It disgusts me how poor my fellow countrymens' knowledge in this area is.

What's really sad is that it isn't limited to places outside of our own borders. True story here: My cousin, who was in 9th grade at the time, made a comment about The Alamo being in Indiana. INDIANA!!!

No surprise at all. US is more self-centered than most of other states so naturaly they don't know much about Geography. From my experience general awareness of the world is greater at least in Europe. As for the people who agree on invading other nations....I've looked at their faces. There are guys like that everywhere. I don't think majority of Americans thinks like that even though on average they need to get out and see the world more. Also there's a superpower complex :p

Just the other day i had to talk to a woman, who was interested in renting a room. She suddenly started to talk about politics and claimed that 9/11 never happened and terrorists are just CIA agents in disguise.

Thats interesting but there could have been lots of mitigating factors like people in town being naturally busy and thus just wanting to get rid of the petition as quickly as possible, that read outloud it may just sound like a substance that isn't well known, people are not expecting to be tricked so probably won't be thinking that they need to actually consider what the name means and people may have still signed it for a joke. :)

Thats because if you look on the map they use Australia is labaled these nations. For example at the end you see the man pointing to "NorthKorea"(Australia) and then going "oh, I never new NK was so much bigger than SK" because the sea right undeneath Australia is labaled South Korea.

And why not believe? Unless you think it might be fake or are in a thinking mood how many people are going to make the connection straight away whilst on the other hand we know that water can get polluted so this could just be a new chemical and monoxide links well with carbon monoxide. Would have been interesting if you had done a second petition using a real chemical that was plausable and possibly a third with H20 clearly written on the form.

A radio station here in Rio once interviwed people who looked stupid in the streets and asked them what they thought of the Law of Gravity. Most answers were along the lines of:

Still, those that bothered to give good answers were probably chopped up on the cutting room floor. Others, like Renata would have done, would just make up weird stuff.
