I'm just curious as to what measures you guys take to enforce the integrity of the hall of fame. I know it's still a beta but there are some suspicious games on there. There is one game where I am certain the player cheated. It is currently the #1 fastest finish on Deity difficulty. A conquest victory, on Deity, on a standard map, in 3560 BC? At first glance this doesn't pass the common sense test, as it is much faster than the fastest Deity finish on a DUEL map. To satisfy my curiousity, I opened the saves, and sure enough, the method of cheating was quite obvious. The 5 civs were all started on the same 6 tile island. This seems like an obvious case of worldbuilder. All that is necessary to attain a conquest win is to found your capital and declare war on the AI's before your borders expand to consume the whole island so the AI's units aren't kicked onto the mainland where they can found cities. The AI's won't attack you even though their forces of archers could easily dominate your single warrior. This is clearly not in the spirit of the HOF and as such should be removed, even from a beta. I think everyone agrees that games like this should not make it into the HOF, and I would be glad to offer my spare time to review the integrity of HOF submissions if it would be helpful.

The game you mentioned was the result of a CIV4 bug. That is why we are doing a "Beta" HoF. ;)
It was noticed by another player eariler. Link: Update 2 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=153234).

I'm afraid you'll have to remain curious. I won't publically discuss how the vetting process works, ever.

I will say that the vetting process has been growing by leaps and bounds over the course of the Beta, and I expect the permanent Hall of Fame will be the "purest" competitive environment CFC has ever seen. ;)

I know it's still a beta but there are some suspicious games on there.
We're living with the current bugs be they good or bad. With the beta, we can simply wait for Firaxis to patch many of them, and hopefully in the process spare ourselves 15 pages of future rules.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. I just don't like the idea of a game like that claiming high honors in the HOF. I trust you guys will do a great job with the final version.

Well as they mentionned, its a game bug.
Not much the staff here can do about it, and so the current hope is teh game will be patched to avoid these situations, which is another reason this HoF is BETA.
