View Full Version : Household Inverted Units
GarretSidzaka Jan 23, 2006, 03:55 PM Hi there! :)
Check out http://www.houseinverted.org The Official Website
I've so far reskinned 2 melee units' shields with my household logo of an Axe sable over azure (please dont correct my heraldic, i know i suck)
The files are .dds so just put them in folders named Knight and Swordsman in custom assets (i found out you have to create the actual unit named folders yerself)
I did these with Gimp 2.0 and they are my first skins ever in my life! :p
Here are the screens:

2sheds Jan 28, 2006, 05:56 PM but where are the unit files in civ iv. assets\art\?
GarretSidzaka Jan 28, 2006, 11:02 PM okay, in assests0.fpk they are locked away and need to be unpacked. DONT MESS WITH THIS (shout for importance). drag the folders i created into "My Documents" "My Games" civilization Custom Assets \ Art (and you may need to create a folder in Art called "Units"
Put the swordsman and knight folders in there. basically, these folders supercede anything in the assets art .fpk file, but does not replace all of it. Like the knight folder in my .zip only has horse and shield, while the rest of the standard civ4 knight skins are okay and used from the non-custom folders.
maybe this will help you (read all posts and read carefully :p )

edit: by the way, if someone who, unlike me, doesnt have a brain impediment, can explain this stuff so it will actually make sense, please feel free to totally correct me!! ;)

lost_civantares Jan 31, 2006, 04:14 PM yeah, finally got a new skin on an archer (hot pink) thnx. now I would like to change my avatar, any help will do for this too.Look in the forum rules, you can't get a custom avatar until 30 days and 30 posts. As for your new archer, hot pink is a tad on the interedting side for an archer you might say.;)
As for the new archer by Garret, I think that that is neat. The possibilities of the SDK are tantallizing though, do you have any ideas (or is that just for the internal programing, and I'm thinking of it wrong?:crazyeye:)
GarretSidzaka Jan 31, 2006, 05:53 PM Well, unless Take Two releaseses the SDK today, they havent held up to their january release date of "some time in january" [pissed]
