I am working on my first mod and have replaced the national epic and heroic epic national wonders with the Alamo (heroic) and San Jacinto (National). I don't know enough about other civs (as to what they belive should be their wonders) to create others, but how about a combined mod where everyone creates true national wonders for their civ. I used a civ specific building granted when the civ is founded to enable the replacement wonders and xml to disable the existing ones for that civ.....Just an idea, but might be a good insight for various cultures, and also give each civ unique wonders that do not give an excessive advantage.

I think that is a wonderful idea and I nominate you to research and implement all of the national wonders for each civ in the game and gets created by players.

btw for Germany I would take Nibelungen as heroic epic and Faust as national epic ( not the other way around like it was suggested in this thread )
