List of games for 2006! (http://www.gamespot.com/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=24145969)
This shows which new PC games are scheduleled for release in 2006.
My poor pocket book!
This year seems to be headed for an RTS strong year, where as '05 was FPS focused.
I am looking forward to the Medieval 2: Total War (even though strangely I don't own any of the predecessors!) and the new pirate based games such as "Tortuga: Pirate's Revenge" and "Pirates of the Burning Sea". The new "Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War" looks pretty cool, and there is another ancient-based RTS called Sparta. I also loved Act of War and am anticipating highly the expansion for it "High treason". I am also going to purchase the expansion to Cossacks II when it comes out in the summer.
wonder if any will be better than [civ4]
Feel free to post and comment!
Grohan Jan 24, 2006, 06:56 AM IMO Rise&Fall and MTW2 look most promising strategy games of next year.
BTW the link doen't work ;)
diablodelmar Jan 24, 2006, 07:06 AM
cheers! :D ill fix it! :goodjob:
Grohan Jan 24, 2006, 07:45 AM Wow! What a list!
I'll never have enough time and money to play all those games...
Chukchi Husky Jan 24, 2006, 08:04 AM There are a few games there that interest me.
Rhymes Jan 24, 2006, 08:22 AM Very week year for RPG's...... damn it.
CartesianFart Jan 24, 2006, 08:39 AM I am not gonna buy a new game this year, maybe the exception of the new Warhammer game, got fond memories of playing the Playstation one strategy game.
Shooter,i am satisfied with the Star Wars Battlefront 2.Good to kill:sniper: other multiplayers before work.I rule!!!
deo Jan 24, 2006, 08:40 AM Whoa!!! There are probably many games i like but the game i like most from that list is Faces Of War.
Abaddon Jan 24, 2006, 08:53 AM should be in other games....
VRWCAgent Jan 24, 2006, 09:19 AM I'm not buying any of them. The only games I enjoy are strategy games, but I'll be darned if I am going to buy a new computer just to play a new strategy game. I updated my video card because Civ IV stupidly went 3D, but that's all I'm doing. I mean, come on, it's a strategy game. You don't need the stupid eye candy.
deo Jan 24, 2006, 09:22 AM Hmmm... Silent Hunter IV is missing, well perhaps because there's no image yet.
Abaddon Jan 24, 2006, 09:41 AM I know this doesnt look like much- but if its anything like TA was.. its going to know the competition for 6!

Urederra Jan 24, 2006, 10:17 AM I'd like to see how Spore is. It sounds interesting. Kinda like a mix between the sims and civilization.
Abaddon Jan 24, 2006, 10:18 AM spore sounds amazing- doesnt look like much from the picture in that that thread though.. i want my creatures to look good!
Masquerouge Jan 24, 2006, 11:19 AM Ooooh maaaaan...
HOMM5, Caesar 4, The elder scrolls : oblivion, NWN2, the pirates games...
leonel Jan 24, 2006, 12:16 PM ...My poor pocket book!...
My poor computer! :D
Seriously I need to get an upgrade like a crackhead needs his crack.
diablodelmar Jan 24, 2006, 12:18 PM Very week year for RPG's...... damn it.
Hey, there seemed to be a few decent RPGs out there! All the pirates games should be great!
leonel Jan 24, 2006, 12:23 PM I'd like to see how Spore is. It sounds interesting. Kinda like a mix between the sims and civilization.
Spore is going to be ASTOUNDING.
The first game to chronicle the entire evolution of a species from the primordeal ooze to becoming a space faring civilization.
diablodelmar Jan 24, 2006, 12:23 PM Wow! What a list!
I'll never have enough time and money to play all those games...
A problem I have too! I think I'll select about 5 games and only get those (probably gonna be much more than this in reality!:D ). These are my top picks:
Xp for Cossacks 2
Xp for Act of War
Medieval 2: Total War
Tortuga Pirates Revenge
Rise of Legends
Rise and Fall Civs at War
Maybe an FPS
Remember, they aren't all suddenly going to be released! They will come out one by one.
diablodelmar Jan 24, 2006, 12:27 PM I'm not buying any of them.
Its a better experience if its pretty:rockon:! I think games out to look nice. Its called "progress".
skadistic Jan 24, 2006, 12:28 PM They left out elder scrolls 4 oblivian.
Unless it still wont be comeing out
leonel Jan 24, 2006, 01:21 PM No it's there. You must have missed it.
History_Buff Jan 24, 2006, 01:33 PM Rise of Legends and Tortuga both look cool, and I should probably pick up a space game too.
Abaddon Jan 24, 2006, 01:41 PM its not there, because he is only listing games exclusive for the PC
Panda Jan 24, 2006, 01:52 PM Unlike 2005, it looks like 2006 will feature some cool RPGs. :goodjob:
I'm looking forward to: Neverwinter Nights 2, Dragon Age, Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords, Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday. I might even try the Age of Conan, even though I avoid MMORPGs.
That is, if I have any time for other games than Civ 4. :D
Little Raven Jan 24, 2006, 02:01 PM Medieval II: TotalWar: Day one purchase. This franchise has never let me down. Rise of Legends: Day one purchase. Brian Reynolds has never let me down. COMBAT MISSION: ShockForce: Meh. Odds are I'll never so much as pick up the box. The Guild 2: I still haven't gotten around to playing the first one. I have it, though. GhostWars: Extreme maybe. Every so often I get chomped on by the RTS bug. But RoL will probably fill that void. Game looks purty, though Heroes of Might and Magic V: You know, I've never gotten into this series. I doubt I'll start here. Society: No way in hell. Warhammer: Mark of Chaos: I'll end up buying this if reviews are even half-way positive. I LOVED Dawn of War. I know this isn't done by the same people or anything, but the Warhammer Universe, done right, is just hella cool. Rush for Berlin: Meh. Whatever. Company of Heroes: Meh. Whatever. Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War: I was going to say that there was very little chance I was going to buy this game. Then I noticed the half-naked Egyptian general chick. Odds are now reasonably solid that I will end up purchasing it at some point. Act of War: High Treason: Meh. Whatever. SPORE: God only knows. I'm going to watch this one closely, but I will not rush out to buy it the day it comes out. I've already had my Black and White moment, thank you very much. Caesar IV: I will buy this. WartimeCommand: God, I'm so sick of WW II. Joint Task Force: Blargh. WOFOR: War on Terror: Not a prayer. Desperados2: Maybe. I liked Commandos. HistWar: Les Grognars: You never know, but unlikely. EmpireEarth2:Art of Supremacy: Nope. Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday: Pass. SIMS2 Open for Business: No. The window across the street keeps my inner voyeur quite happy. No need for digital additions. DropTeam: No. Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords: Very, very likely. The first one was pretty good, and I've been looking for a good MOO sequel ever since, well, MOO. There are more games on this list but my brain has overloaded. Looks to be a fun year.
betazed Jan 24, 2006, 02:06 PM I am waiting for Guild Wars Chapter 2.
Yeeek Jan 24, 2006, 02:28 PM MTW:2 is high on my to buy list :D seconded with the new TA. Warhammer of course, so far only warhammer franchise game that was worth buying, its Dawn of War. Really incredible i hope this one is as good if not better.
I have high hope in Tabula Rasa.
diablodelmar Jan 24, 2006, 02:28 PM Little raven that is useful advice! I think I will get the two games you have specified as having never let you down.
btw what does MMORPG stand for:confused: ? I get the "role playing game" bit but not the rest.
Little Raven Jan 24, 2006, 02:29 PM btw what does MMORPG stand for:confused: ? I get the "role playing game" bit but not the rest.Massively-Multiplayer Online.
Think World of Warcraft or Everquest.
diablodelmar Jan 24, 2006, 02:33 PM oh ok! yeah... I'm not the biggest fan
I like RPG though! not as much as RTS though, I can get enough!
deo Jan 24, 2006, 02:36 PM Would be Cool if SW:KOTOR3 would be in that list, damn i love that game very much :(
diablodelmar Jan 24, 2006, 02:38 PM isn't it there? I thought I saw it,
remember, it is a huge list (someone spent a good deal of their free time on it!), you could have missed it?
deo Jan 24, 2006, 02:40 PM isn't it there? I thought I saw it,
remember, it is a huge list (someone spent a good deal of their free time on it!), you could have missed it?
Nope, it's not even confirmed :( Damn it.
Oruc Jan 24, 2006, 02:42 PM Nope, it's not even confirmed :( Damn it.
I doubt they will make it the second game kinda crap
MrCynical Jan 24, 2006, 02:42 PM Oblivion is there, but they've filed it under multi-platform games instead of RPG.
deo Jan 24, 2006, 02:44 PM I doubt they will make it the second game kinda crap
I think it will be made, i hope so, i hate it when i can't watch a movie till the end  .
Abaddon Jan 24, 2006, 02:45 PM Unlike 2005, it looks like 2006 will feature some cool RPGs. :goodjob:
Very week year for RPG's...... damn it.
Hmm.. seems to have a bit of dissagreement on the RPG's
Will there ever be a non-online Final Fantasy game again?
History_Buff Jan 24, 2006, 09:14 PM Has anyone actually heard anything conclusive about Tortuga : Pirates Revenge? It looks like it'll turn out to be a decent game, but the forums at the developer are dead, and theres no real news I could find, despite the fact that it's to be released Q1.
azzaman333 Jan 24, 2006, 09:41 PM Damn! I'd bet very few of those would even run on my laptop.
homeyg Jan 24, 2006, 09:45 PM I'm definitely getting Supreme Commander and Flight Simulator X!
Oerdin Jan 24, 2006, 09:54 PM D&D online might be fun though likely expensive with a monthly fee while Hearts of Iron 2's expansion might be worth it but it doesn't look any different from HOI2 regular or even HOI1 for that matter.
conquer_dude Jan 24, 2006, 09:59 PM All those economic and city building games look interesting to me.
FriendlyFire Jan 24, 2006, 10:08 PM Warhammer: Mark of Chaos: I'll end up buying this
Company of Heroes: Meh. Whatever
 If Iam not mistaken, RELIC who programmed Homeworld, also did WH40k Dawn of war is making company of Heroes.
North King Jan 24, 2006, 10:11 PM Medieval 2: Total War...
*salivates*
Seriously, I think that outshoots SPORE even for me... I just hope it's easier to keep track of than RTW... I much prefer MTW 1 to RTW...
homeyg Jan 24, 2006, 10:13 PM Oh yeah, and I'm getting Medieval 2!
Warman17 Jan 24, 2006, 10:51 PM The worst part about al lthese games is that my 2 year old computer is now basically obsolete when it comes to PC games. It can barely run R:TW and cIV, and the Star Wars: Empire at War Demo said my computer doesn't have the required 3d graphics(even though I can still run it at lowest graphics better than the above 2 games)
Global Nexus Jan 24, 2006, 10:53 PM I'm really looking forward to GC2 and Spore. I'm almost salivating over them...
Little Raven Jan 24, 2006, 10:54 PM  If Iam not mistaken, RELIC who programmed Homeworld, also did WH40k Dawn of war is making company of Heroes. You aren't mistaken. But the Warhammer and 40K universes are cool, wereas I'm sick to death of WW II. So even though Relic is doing it, I'm just not interested.
Plexus Jan 25, 2006, 02:01 AM Two games that I can't wait for are Pirates of the Burning Sea (been looking forward to it since 2003) and Spore.
Bugfatty300 Jan 25, 2006, 02:09 AM Too bad I currently have no money to buy any of them.
Anybody feel like sending me 50 bucks?
Edit: Oh Com'on. I know some of you are rich.
Ultima Dragoon Jan 25, 2006, 02:33 AM Thank God my Mum's computer can hardly run :civ4:, otherwise, I would have it clogged up with TES4:Oblivion, Spore and The Warhammer:Mark of Chaos game looks good.
Elrohir Jan 25, 2006, 02:40 AM Well, I'm still playing Civ4 and Guild Wars, and if that wasn't enough lately I've gotten back into playing Warcraft 3, so I'll probably be pretty busy for awhile. Rise of Legends and Spore look pretty sweet though, maybe if I have some extra time and cash.....
diablodelmar Jan 25, 2006, 03:06 AM Has anyone actually heard anything conclusive about Tortuga : Pirates Revenge? It looks like it'll turn out to be a decent game, but the forums at the developer are dead, and theres no real news I could find, despite the fact that it's to be released Q1.
I have been trying to figure this out too. I now doubt if it will be released Q1.
Knight-Dragon Jan 25, 2006, 03:20 AM Moved to Other Games.
deo Jan 25, 2006, 04:56 AM Hmmm... What's the most underated game in this list? For me it's Faces of War, oh man Soldiers: Heroes of World War II was a cracker!
diablodelmar Jan 25, 2006, 12:38 PM Man, I wish they didn't move this thread to the "other games" forum because noone goes here.
Smokey_Monkey Jan 25, 2006, 02:41 PM Is it just me or does spore look terrible?
Chukchi Husky Jan 25, 2006, 02:46 PM That screenshot of SPORE is from the beginning of the game.
Smokey_Monkey Jan 25, 2006, 02:47 PM Why does that make a difference? Do the graphics improve through the game?!
Chukchi Husky Jan 25, 2006, 02:52 PM The game begins with one celled organisms, then your lifeforms become more complex with each new generation, becoming marine animals then land animals then creating societies.
History_Buff Jan 25, 2006, 04:20 PM Sigh, I wish everyone would get off their "lets push graphics cards as far as we can" horse. It doesn't make the game any better, just makes them extremely difficult to play on any sort of barely obsolete system. And personally I'd much rather have my laptop then a desktop system.
Dell19 Jan 25, 2006, 04:37 PM I think the point is to make the graphics more impressive. I know there have been a few times in RTW where I have been impressed by watching a siege in a sand storm with the general's cavalry almost out of sight. So for me it does make the game better and generally you can turn down the options if you want to play it on a less capable system.
diablodelmar Jan 26, 2006, 04:15 AM Sigh, I wish everyone would get off their "lets push graphics cards as far as we can" horse. It doesn't make the game any better, just makes them extremely difficult to play on any sort of barely obsolete system. And personally I'd much rather have my laptop then a desktop system.
its called progress,
they make them like that for the future of gaming, not to satisfy those who don't have the right pc specs sadly....
Smokey_Monkey Jan 26, 2006, 01:08 PM Sigh, I wish everyone would get off their "lets push graphics cards as far as we can" horse. It doesn't make the game any better, just makes them extremely difficult to play on any sort of barely obsolete system. And personally I'd much rather have my laptop then a desktop system.
Jeez, what I meant was I thought it looked like a couple of blobs floating around a green floor not "OMG Gr4ffics 4r3 $h!3 m3 n0 gonn4 buy 1t!!!".
Now Chukchi Husky has explained it, it sounds great and I might buy it!:goodjob:
