View Full Version : Party RPG
Matrix Jan 25, 2006, 04:13 PM One of my favorite games of all times is Wizardry VII: Dark Savanth. I never finished it, because it was too tough. :(
Recently I watched The Fellowship Of The Ring again (on which most, if not all of these 'party' role playing games are inspired) and I'm really into the mood of it. But not Wizardry VII again. Nor Eye Of The Beholder: Dark Moon. I played that too often as well. (Not as much fun as W7 though.)
---
Actually, my only question is: are there other games like W7 that are as much fun?
Swiss Bezerker Jan 31, 2006, 08:11 PM man, no one posted in your thread. http://bryanhead1.home.comcast.net/needpics.gif hope that worked

Matrix Feb 02, 2006, 04:09 PM You know, I am moderator on this forum. :satan:
But I'll take this as a bump. :D
Swiss Bezerker Feb 03, 2006, 04:44 PM I have not even heard of the game, much less played. But my accidental smiley makes a point, if you post a pic people would know more of what you are talking about/be more interested
Heretic_Cata Feb 04, 2006, 03:18 AM I STRONGLY recomend playing Wizardry 8 - it is one of the most addictive games i have ever played (even more addictive than civ 3 :p - because you can reach the end of a civ3 game in 12-24 horus but in wiz8 i just won't end, and you can't stop yourself).
It's one of those "ultimate gaming drugs" :)
Heretic_Cata Feb 04, 2006, 03:24 AM I have not even heard of the game
OUTRAGEOUS how could you not hear of the rpg's that created the genre (wizardry series, eye of the beholder series, ultima series, bard's tale series , FF series and plenty more). I'm not saying you should play all those games ('cause i didn't finish them) but at least HEAR about them :) - respect history :salute:
Matrix Feb 04, 2006, 08:45 AM Heretic_Cata, I do have Wizardry 8 and am playing it. ;) But although it's a little easier and in that respect more fun (because W7 was simply too hard) it doesn't have the mysterious atmosphere that W7 had. :undecide:
Heretic_Cata Feb 04, 2006, 12:45 PM :hmm: never played Wiz 7 - i was about 5 years then (if i'm not mistaking)
Fallout is preety cool ... might & magic 6-8 are also awsome (if you like older graphics) ... i'll add some later ...
Hey i think i actualy wrote some more in a rpg games thread here at "other games forum" ... i was a lot more awake then :D
Hundegesicht Feb 15, 2006, 11:35 PM My reply is a bit late, maybe. But avernum (http://www.avernum.com/avernum/) is probably the most addicting party based RPG I've ever played. A warning, though, like the Energizer bunny, it just keeps going and going...
.:KNAS:. Feb 16, 2006, 07:16 AM Whoah this thread was so not what i had expected. The title Party RPG made me think along the lines of "Your name is Brett, the college football player. Your skills are Tackling, Chugging and you have the High School Graduation Ring (Charm +1). Your current quest is to hook up with the captain of the cheerleaders (+30XP, + 15 Reputation)" You know, something along those lines.
Matrix Feb 18, 2006, 09:12 AM I actually started playing Wizardry VII after all, and am finally quite successful! :) It's a very tough game, and I often need walkthrough to get through.
I'm busy making a map for Wizardry VII:

woodelf Feb 22, 2006, 06:16 AM I think I ended up buying the hint book for Wiz 6 and 7. I prefer 6 over 7, but only because 7 was too much sci-fi for me. My all time favorite is the first, most likely since it was the first and I bought my first computer just so I could play the Apple version in 81!.. :p
I've had 8 since it came out and it never hooked me. I've come close to finishing, but it didn't make me finish it like the others did.
