In accordance with this post by Octavian X, http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=155388 and our personal discusstion of it, I with power vested in me by no one(yet), as Unofficial Officer of the Name Post this here preliminary poll that will narrow down the potential flag of this nation.

It will be a multiple choice poll, and i will attempt to get all the Flag pictures up in the thread, but if i can't i formally request the help of George OP or any other good citiziens.

You may vote for three choices, and only three choices in this here Preliminary poll. The top vote getters will move on to a final Flag poll in 3 days time.

The Flags explainations

1) Well the star is a symbol of unity, the diagonal stripes are a symbol of our reach towards peace and prosperity, and the pillar in the middle stands for strength.

2)- The square in the middle is a Pyramid (from bird's eye view), it represents our nation's Egyptian origin.
- The red lines of the Pyrimid symbolizes power.
- The four sides of the Pyrimid symbolize Science (green), Culture (purple), Happiness (yellow) and Health (white), the elements of a civilization's growth, from which the power is formed.
- The blue background symbolize democracy, the prime nature of our game, on which the power is based.

3)What it represents...well, mother Egypt is watching her neighbours so they walk like Egyptians...or else .

5)Blue represents the ocean and yellow the sun. The dumbstruck look on Mother >enter name here<'s face represents the awe in which she beholds the nations developments

6)Blue = Tradtional, Purple = change white = the peace between them, the 3 symbols = Weblings for CIV plus the cross is religion, the hand is defense and the thumb is the sign of our freedom

7)So what I did was I took the ankh, which is sacred, and used it in my flag to represent cities (Like in the United States where stars represent states) which are sacred to us, since what is our civilization without cities? And then I took the crook and flail, which were placed on the pharoahs at burial, in order to represent that we have laid our beloved pharoahs to rest, and have taken up the call of democracy! It could be a positive or negative that the flag ankhs vary as the game goes on. Anyway, here are my examples, one city, and five cities. Plus, it kind of matches our in game flag in appearance.

8)black-the world's darkness
blue- our civilizations glory against the barbarian outsiders

9)The white symbolizes peace. The red symbolizes war. They come together at the center, where there is a gold star. This star symbolizes trust: trust in ourselves, our fellow citizens, our military, our government, and our God.

Purple is wealth/culture
Blue is our knowledge(techs)
Red is Power/ Strength/Authority
Yellow is for Happiness/Power/Wealth(depends on source)
Black line symbolize athority and power throughout history
and the cross thing in the middle is the "Cross of Enternity" having the five colors of our flag in it represents enternal what ever they mean!

And, it would actually appear as if I had spoken too soon. Chieftess has confirmed that she thinks these polls should appear in the polls subforum.

As Censor, I hereby find this poll meets all requirements as being official and valid as a binding Initiative of the Citizen's Assembly. It shall take effect once the poll is closed, and after nine citizens haven taken part in the poll.

I had earlier posted a differnt Name Thread, but made the vote private to decreace party pressure, which didn;t go over well and got the poll closed, after which i posted that asking if i should finish the job or if Octovian would take over. (which was my evil plan all along)

I would like to:
a) Ask if anyone else notices the strikeing similarity between Sigmas flag and Japans?
B) Give my official reasonings for flag 4.
-The large printed word "INGSOC" is their to honor our goverment which so strongly guides us.
-The "V" is for Victory which our nation will have over all othes.
-THe two hands shakeing represent overcoming of diversity both in the actual game and in real life.
-The Blue represents peace superiority and the Ocean. THe peace that we must have to win, the supperiority of our peple over all others, and the Ocean that seperates us from our enemies.

My preference among the top candidates is Nomad Bryce's. It has a basic color and symbology which is compatible with Egypt. Dagdhda's flag without the words would also be good.

If there is no vote that breaks the triple 7 tie to either two 8's and a seven or 1 8 and two sevens, then there will be a runnoff poll between the three 7's to see which of them gets to join the two leaders in the Finals! I mention no names because i don't want any late-comers voting specifically to break the tie!

Sigma's flag looking like Japans Traditional Flag that is only used now for their navy is the reason I love it so much! I love that red and white japanese flag =]

We used something very similar in the Civ 3 demogame when we played Japan. Rik Meleet designed that one.

The triple 7's have been broken and have lead way to double eights which if not broken will cause the finals to be four flags, not three!

"The Party" is strongly reminicent of Orwell's 1984 - see wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four#The_world_of_Nineteen_Eighty-Four). The imagery in flag 4 is pulled directly from concepts from the book.
