I like to play on a huge map with 12-18 civs. I've won on monarch (time + cultural), prince (domination) and noble (domination), each time these victories have come late on. Admitedly I turn space race off due to my thirst for blood. None of these victories have yielded any more than 10000 pts. I realise that winning early provides a massive score from reading other threads, but is that possible with so much space to cover and so many enemies to butcher? Will I ever be able get a huge score under these conditions? Also do you find that AI civs aren't aggressive enough? Any help would be most appreciated as even though i'm still in with a chance on my current emperor game reading about some of the scores other players are getting has left me feeling rather inadequate.

ps I have never razed a city because I'm too tight, when should I? Happy civing everyone:) :) :) :)

Try playing an easy difficulty like settler. Even with the scoring penalty I guarantee you'll break 10k if you do a horseman conquest.

You didn't mention what speed you are using. Try Marathon speed if you haven't as is will give you more time. Beyond that the biggest components of score are population and territory. Reading some of the threads here, in the GOTM and the Strategy & Tip forums to learn is also a good way to improve.

Admitedly I turn space race off due to my thirst for blood. Not to be negative, but Space race off would disqualify a game for acceptance into the Hall of Fame. Best get used to playing with all the required settings if that is your ambition. ;)
