Hello all,

I have been playing the game for quite some time now. I am having a very difficult time going from Noble to Prince. I can usually win at Noble. But, I struggle with prince. Can you tell me the top 5-10 things that I must do to win on Prince?

specialize cities
build more cottages
build cottages earlier

I don't play Financial, either.

Im a prince player just moving up to monarch. The jump from noble to prince for me did take a couple games. As alco75 said, paying attention to finances is very important. Don't automate workers, make them build lots of cottages. When you specialize cities, make sure you pay close attention to what national wonders to put where. Examples, make sure ironworks goes in the city producing the most hammers, make sure wall street goes to the city producing the most gold, etc. Details like these matter on higher levels. Make sure you chop forests to put hammers into the most critical things early: settlers if you are going for expansion, barracks/units for conquest, or wonders if you have a particular strategy to use them for. Never build a wonder just because you can.
Also, I found that a quiet, building strategy is a bit harder, but fighting successful wars is a good way to get an advantage on the AI.

Main thing i would recommend is stick to what you know, if you arent chopping then figure out how to do it.

Depending on what team you choose try and expand quickly and suffocate the civ next to you with culture and or military and slowly but surely pick away at them rather than totally wipe them out.

I've noticed on prince difficult and above that warmongering too early does more harm than good and unless you are in a position to actually defeat all your opponents or take out 3 or more of them.

My favourite strategy to win on prince and above is simply to expand without warfare and systematically pick on weak civs near me and take their land while keeping in touch with the tech race and either going for cultural or space race victory later on.
