A few things to discuss it seems....
1. What's our new team name? Grahamiam thinks it should be even more idiotic. I garee Gman! ;)
2. Map--I've asked Sirian to make a custom map and he said he would. I think we should have him make a doozy rather than random but what do you think?
3. Civilization? I lean towards Cathy for her superior traits.
4. Government? Should we have one?

2. Map - a Sirian special would be great, I would definitely go for something like that rather than random.
3. Civ - for some reason I find playing Cathy confusing :crazyeye: but with the problems I've had I've not actually played that many games so far....

i have no idea what leader/civ to use as I haven't played any MP/PBEM CIV games, and my CIV skills are pretty lacking. If anyone's interested, maybe we can start a gladiator thread or something so we can bash on each other and improve our MP play?

I just posted once I saw the forum.... I didn't realize that Whomp actually posted something. After actually reading Whomp's post, I realize that there are questions there. So here are my answers:

1. What's our new team name? Piffle
2. Map--Sirian custom at his discretion
3. Civilization? Cathy of the Russians or Kublai of the Khans
4. Government? Guv Urn Mint. Sounds like toothpaste... nah, don't want it I like Crest.

Here's a PM from Sirian....I really like the idea of letting him run with this.

Inland Sea would probably offer the "fairest" start from a random map, but since I will be customizing the map, it really doesn't matter.

Of course, the more you leave to my discretion, the more compelling things might become. Imagine if nobody knows what type of map it is, or what to expect. Scouting would be more urgent, and debates about what to do next would be more significant.

I'll make a map to certain specs if that is what is called for, though.

I too would like to let him make a map at his discretion, we know we'll get a map that will give us a good game, but we won't know what it actually is - the best of both worlds as far as I can tell.

It looks like we will have to pick a list of civs and then that will be what we get. as you can see by the list below, I put a high priority on Financial. I've had a lot of luck with Kublai so he's the odd-ball non-banker.

Here is my list of preferred civs/leaders (comment please)
Cathy of the Russians (Creative & Fin.)
Kublai of the Khans (Creative & Aggressive)
Elizabeth of the English (Philo & Fin.)
Qin Shi of the Chinese (Ind. & Fin.)
Mansa Musa of the Malinese (Spiritual & Fin.)


FWIW, let me know if you have a combination of traits that you would like to play. There are some like Creative and organized that don't go together.

Aggressive - free promotion for all melee & gunpowder units
Creative - +2 culture per city
Expansive - +2 health per city
Financial - +1G per tile that already has 2G
Industrious - +50% wonder production
Organized - -50% civic upkeep
Philosophical - 100% GP birth rate
Spiritual - no anarchy

Here (http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/reference/leader_picker.html) is a website that will take some preferences and give you all of the leaders with those options. Also it will let you decide on a beginning tech. Depending on our starting location, I would pick different ones, but Mining is ALWAYS useful

Btw, US women is killing the Swiss in hockey. they even scored while it was 5 (SUI) on 3 (USA). :shakehead 6-0

fyi.... A Pitboss game (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=3700918#post3700918)was started by DaveShack. There are 18 civs so sign up quick. If anyone does sign up, post how many civs are left. I might ask you to sign me up for a civ.

If this thing works out we'll be able to keep it as pitboss and then just someone has to log into the game once every other day to play our turn. It'll be quicker than a 5 day turn-around in a PBEM but will still give you the chance to play our turns.
