View Full Version : Request: Removing all city automation

Ok, here's a quick example of my problem: I switched to Bureaucracy (+50% hammers and +50% commerce in capital) and my capital decided to rearrange all the tiles being worked. This was rather annoying since it had many specialists delicately balanced with the working tiles. After I fixed it, I noticed it again reverted back to this. I then recalled that I had switched to something other than Bureaucracy a couple turns ago. All automation is off for this city (and all my cities for that matter)

What I am looking for is a way to stop the the game from assigning/changing tiles at all. I can't stand it when a new population point arrives and it gets assigned to a tile automatically. Or you change civics and the city "adjusts" to fit it. I don't care if the city starves itself to nothing, I want the worked tiles to stay the way I leave them no matter what.

It would also be nice if we get a message when a city grows as well, and the new population is created as a citizen until I move it elsewhere. I find it annoying when I'm waiting for a city to grow so I can work a specific tile. When the city does grow I have to find which tile got assigned automatically  , remove it, and then reassign the work to a tile I want. It would be nicer if a citizen was sitting there ready to assign to a tile of my choosing.

I'd rather get more messages about my own cities then have the knowledge that a great person was born in some far away land.

There has to be some micromanaging modders out there. Please help.

Someone requested something similar quite a while ago. Noone replied. But, there's Civ4lerts (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=157088) which can alert you when a city grows. Don't think it's possible, atleast not in an easy way, to auto assign the new pop to citizen. This because the game doesn't tell us who is the new one.

I'll give that mod a try, thanks.

It's a shame that we can't do this then. Oh well...:(
