I think I'm getting the hang of playing on Monarch level, but I've never had a successful Monarch game where I've started alone on my continent. Now, I find myself in exactly that postition, and I'm wondering what victory type I should be aiming at. I know that island starts are often good for cultural victories, but I feel like if I want to go that route, I should start working on it now. Should I? Or can I wait until I meet the AIs to make my decision?

I'm playing as Elizabeth, Standard size, Continents map, on normal speed. 4 Cities so far (and there's one barb city I'll probably capture). I have built no wonders, but I managed to found Confucianism in what will probably be my best production city.
