Actually good point lost_civantares, let's expand this concept of headhunting ... if anyone would like to either directly contact potential players do so ... or you can enter a list below and I would be most happy to PM an invitation.

-Civrules might be one to try, he's a civ4 mod, and put a lot in to civ4 anyway (prerelease info), and was a beta tester, but has not gone into the demo games yet.

-Maybe we could ask Sullla to join, telling him that all he would be required (if that is what he so desires) is to only comment, having his stratagy would be quite usefull, especially since he is pretty good with multiplayer.

-LKendter, Arathorn, Kylearan are respected SG'rs, who if they arn't too busy would be great to have on the team.

These are all (except for Civrules) sucession gamers, a place where I tend to like to hang out at, so I'm sure we havn't exausted the list of names yet.

Maybe we could recruit a couple of the better GOTM players.

Any names? I am not there to much (probably should be :blush: ).

-Also don't just look in the civ4 forums, look in the civ3 ones too, although they might not have the game they could still be interested playing through us (and so with us).

The names that immediatrly come to mind are bradleyfeanor, Solenoozerec and DaveMcW, and looking at the rankings for Civ 4 GOTM 1, some of the higher names that were also good in the civ 3 gotm include Dynamic, MiniMe, MeteorPunch and klarius.

And Chamnix, who is on MIA in the civ 3 MTDG, is a fantastic MM'er who we should try to get to join when he gets a little more time.

Chamnix has already declined ... for now :mischief: ... but who knows for Whom the Epilson Bell will toll to ;)

The team members were asked to brainstorm a list of potential players for the team ... and you were one of the heads designated to be hunted :D

The MTDG will be an interesting and hopefully entertaining way to explore the intricacies of the newest version of our much loved Sid Meier :worship: Civilization series ... The game is played by 5 teams playing in a pbem environment, each team discusses and strategises all elements of the game and diplomacy tends to be very interesting :mischief:

Our team will encourage participation and will promote the fun factor. Some of us do not have cIV so game questions will also be encouraged and full reporting with screenies, on the turn taken will be mandatory.

Sorry, but my time is already overbooked. As I understand the demo game concept it requires meetings in chat rooms and such to discuss planning the next turn. I don't frequent any chat or meeting rooms, and don't use any instant messaging services.

Right now I play 3 to 4 Civ4 SGs, RB Epics, 5 to 6 A&A type games by e-mail, not to mention other things that eat up time.

No worries ... thanks for responce ...

But just in case ... it does not require meetings in chat rooms ... it takes about 24 hours for each team to have a turn ... therefore 4 days to discuss moves via postings on the thread until our turn again :D

However I understand that RL eats into our Civ time ;)

I should tell you that I played one MTDG before. I came up with a brilliant plan to take over our continent. Everything was going great until our iron disappeared, leaving us with a furious enemy team and an army of unupgraded warriors. At which point I abandoned my team.

Oppps I went into automatic mode with the standard type of answer :blush: ... as plans go your's sounds possibly logical and unflawed ... and the fact you devised a plan indicates that you were active ... the main focus to to enjoy the experience in exploring cIV ... winning/losing (for myself and I'm sure others in the team) is secondary.

If you think that your answer put us off, it hasn't :shakehead ... all big game decisions are discussed ... some even voted upon ... therefore a 'team' decision.

Also if you have changed your mind about playing this game, could you either reply to this message or contact the administrators directly. The reason for this is to keep an accurate as possible team membership on the main board which ensures those with low membership are assigned more members.

Do not forget to suggest names that you think will be good for this team. Also do not forget about players who are not as good so that they can ge taught to play this game better, which is one goal that this team should be desiring to do.

Alright as for my thoughts on recruiting players, has anyone looked into different players for different victory types. Or what skill set out current players posses?

Like for example myself I am good a quick domination/conquest

But as a direct consequence of this my late game is weak, meaning that if we found ourself in a spaceship race I would be pretty much useless. (since in my games I rarely get past the first 2/3 of the tech tree)

So maybe recruitment of cultural players, spaceship players, etc could be looked into?

Something to think about would be to put a bar with Epsilon or something of that sort. I used to do that for TNT, but the moderators felt that it was too simular to a mod's tags. Does anyone know if that is beacuse of the color simularity, or just the idea of a tag in the avatar in general? The major reason that I'm thinking this is because people are known on the forum by their avatar, that's the first thing that a person uses to identify someone, so if we put Epsilon as part of the identifying factor, they would think of Epsilon before anyother team.

We don't want to be known as the spam team. ;)

You could also advertise by PM to certain players you thing might be interested in playing. That worked here and in the civ3 one. I personally sent out many PMs to various players that are now in MIA.

But yeah, if you are in some SGs, PBEMs, whatever that is civ-related and you think they might be interested in this, feel free to send them a PM. It's not spam, because it's not just some mass PM or posting campaign, and you might actually be doing them a favor! :)

SGOTM 01 Realms Beyond, It is alot of fun by the tiem I got to play my set of 20 turns we were in big trouble (The difficulty id Monarch) But it is funny to see how everyone plays the game different :)
