edit:
did a fast reskinning of the swordsman and the axeman, furthermore of the Officer and added a Hero, the one in front of the swordsmen.
got a second armystyle, originally developed a swordsman for the Greek World mod (shipped with vanilla civ).

Is there a way to make the game look like that without having to download any mods?

No. You have to download something to change gmae files, otherwise it will just be stock vanilla. lol

Impressive work. Cant wait for this to be released.

hey keal, wanted to ask u if i could do it for your mod too ;) so i like it, if someone implements it, in every mod, because bigger formations means more exciting battles, so no deal, just steal ;)

The new ones are very cool, but how did you get one swordsman to be different from all the others in the first pic?

There is an option to use a second mesh - a second unit graphic added to the first - in the UnitInfo XML file. I use this for my Uppajut civ in my Firts Peoples mod.

Looks great!.. Correct me if i'm wrong.. is this about changing the formation numbers, line and units attacking at the same time instead of 1 at a time?

well, yes ;) i did it for vanilla civ (as everyone likes to call it), you can get the mod here: Regiments Mod

The Warlords mod is actually about something else, cant tell too much, because i am not sure into which direction it will develop, have to see whats possible ;)

The vision of my warlords mod is developing and becomes clearer. But can someone tell me if it is possible to add a new "event", like fortification? so i mean a new button, for example next to fortify? and if so, is it necessary to use python?!
another question, can someone explain the model-hexediting thing to me :) ? just want to change helmets and shoulderplates from one model to another
