I was thinking about the Panama Cannal and the Chunnel. Is it possible to mod in an ability to pay for terrain changes later in the game. Say when you have engineering and astronmy maybe you could pay some outragous sum to have your starting home land connect to the main land? I know you can just use World Builder but that really isn't fair. Then you could add land to give a major city more growth or even to build a new city. I mean think of the airport in Korea. They cut down a mountain and made it into an island. I am not sure of the costs or the techs that would be required. Just an idea, let me know what you think?

I am thinking that maybe giving a great engineer an extra command would be easiest. I am just wondering how you can let the player use the world builder screen to chop a mountain or fill in the coast without letting them get into other areas. Please if you have any hints or ideas let me know. I have thought about this since Civ II. What do you all think?

While I am not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, the GreenMod (if I recall correctly) does have a feature to turn land into ocean/coast and ocean into land. This, at least, would allow one to build something along the lines of the panama canal, though I haven't tried it out myself.

So am I an idiot or is there just no intrest is this idea? I'm new here so I am not shure which is the case. If this has already been done I would love to know where so that I can use it!

well, personally i'm not really interested, but to say after 1 day that nobody is interested is a bit quick to judge.

Thanks, i'm new here and I wasn't sure. I have been on other boards and no reply after a day means the kiss of death. Thanks for the help!

Just use the terraforming mod. It adds ALL of the terraforming from Civ 2: raise and lower terrain, change deserts, tundra, plains, grassland, etc. I also made an add-on that gives a random chance of discovering a new resource when the land is terraformed.
