Lets get this rolling!
The year is 4000BC and Tupacius Caesar has risen to rule the Romans! Well Tupacius never liked only having to share so he plans to rule everyone before too long.
He was born into a luverly start location with 2 cows
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/2753/start8en.jpg
The first thing Tupacius did was find out he would have to fight to attain world domination. A quick peek at the spaceship list (what the hell is a 'space...ship???') revealed the following
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/3405/spacerace8gc.jpg
Tupacius was happy to learn that his people were the only ones clever enough to know about an alphabet and so decided he would only teach it to people if they gave him something in return... or asked really nicely.
However Tupacius didn't like the look of that pond, fearing it was the ocean and so not wanting to be landlocked in the future he moved to the other side of the river. Naturally it turned out to be a fresh water lake but Tupacius felt it was better to be safe then sorry.
As they say Rome wasn't built in a day, in this case it took 50 years!
http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/5558/foundrome0pv.jpg
Tupacius set Rome to train warriors and set research to pottery at max.
The first warrior trained, Rick James, was sent out to scout the world while the second two stayed for MP duty, after the 3rd was trained Rome was ordered to construct a barracks and when this happened...
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1788/pottery0vu.jpg
That barracks was, with minor modifications turned into a granary.
Rome was now ready to become a 4-turn settler factory.
Of course Rick James soon discovered some very interesting people who called themselves the Germans
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/9536/germany1ro.jpg
Tupacius just thought he was a bald prat and refused to trade him the secret Roman Alphabet. However Rick James soon met some other people, the homely Catherine of Russia
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/5358/russia9ei.jpg
and the lovely Cleopatra of Egypt.
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/8602/egypt0we.jpg
With so many ignorant people about Caesar decided to teach them all about the wonderous Roman Alphabet, provided they gave him something in return.
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/241/alphaegypt8az.jpg
http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/4595/alphagermany9bu.jpg
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/2124/alpharussia3ec.jpg
Caesar decided that with all the great techniques learnt he should start thinking abotu WRITING his alphabet. He was halfway through spending a minimum of time on it and hoped that his new friends wouldnt think of it before him. Tupacius decided he should set one of his new cities to start work on a fabulous palace saying
'who knows, if I change my mind then we might be able to swap it for something...'
'like what?'
'oh i dunno a big library or something, geez am i supposed to think of everything?'
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 06:41 AM Rome has been working hard pumping settlers as a 4-turner as you can see

tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 07:35 AM Well after posting that addition I went back to the game and it said that the save file was corrupted, tried back tracking with the autosaves and they are corrupted as well. May have to start a new game :( thats a real shame as that was a cracker of a start, 4 turn settler factory, the only civ with alpha, and 3 nearby luxes... wat a waste :(
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 07:54 AM Ok rolled up a new start which I'll play soon. Exact same settings and chose the same civs as showed up in the last game.
Here's what I can see at the start
http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/6223/newstart5mi.jpg
Lets see a little veni vidi vici!
Takeo Feb 11, 2006, 08:53 AM That's a shame, it was a good start.
conquer_dude Feb 11, 2006, 12:04 PM Holy crap thaqt sucks. It was a good start and you were doing awesome. :wow:
tR1cKy Feb 11, 2006, 02:03 PM "too much" a good start - why don't you try a "bad" one? ;)
Lord_Iggy Feb 11, 2006, 02:06 PM Nice starts Tupac!
Smart Feb 11, 2006, 02:14 PM Continue it, you can win even on bad start :)
madviking Feb 11, 2006, 02:22 PM Also, its Deity, not Diety. ;) Not like you're going on a diet
Mr David Feb 11, 2006, 03:12 PM Well the first start was good, but with all that jungle, it would have been hard to get productivity out of there anyways.
conquer_dude Feb 11, 2006, 03:31 PM I did see that he had a small town in the jungle. Those are mostly just good for wealth and tax collectors and scientists.
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 04:32 PM The towns in the jungle were used to grab luxs (spices and dyes) in the original start, really dissapointed to lose the first start, wouldnt have been an easy game because of the amount of land, prior to updating I was on tech parity, at theology and gunpowder and all civs were still in expansion phase.
Will post an update with the new start soon
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 04:37 PM @tR1cKy; I've read you're 'now this is a bad start!' and was very impressed with that but I have maybe a dozen victories on deity and thats it and all of them came from good starts. I would try a bad start but I lack the experience with the ultra-early wars you need to make a start like that work (for example in 'now this is a bad start!' I probably would have messed up the archer rush against egypt you performed)
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 05:51 PM Well I start by moving the worker ono the cow to get a look at what the pond to the south is and unlike last time its the ocean. So I move the settler further up the river to avoid being landlocked. Looking at the map its not the greatest start ever. 4-turner may be possible but difficult due to lack of shield, also at best, all I can get is a half ring and on Vanilla those rings are very important. Even though it takes 10 turns I have to build a worker first as a warrior would mean that when the village pops on expansion barbs would appear, dont want to take the risk of losing the warrior, getting rome sacked, and losing my only worker so I build a worker first... when the village pops I get a settler....!!!!!!! not too shabby  Still going for the 3-warrior/granary option at the start. Dissapointed that yet again I've been slapped with a bucketload of jungle. But hey with a free settler in 3500bc... BOOYA!!!!!
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/7758/settler8ze.jpg
The only trouble is I've done no exploration to know where to put him. See a welcoming spot to the north and so head there.
http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/9885/veii8wg.jpg
After the 2nd warrior comes online, I opt for a settler before a 3rd warrior or a granary. I just know there's a nasty suprise waiting for me and I want all the cities i can when it comes...
I knew it...
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8800/iros8af.jpg
The Iroquois. I have a nasty feeling I'm going to be heavily squeezed. A turn later Egypt shows up.
All thats happened means that so far my min run on writing has paid off as I'm still the only civ I know with alpha however I dont have pottery nad even all my cash can't pry it from the Iroquois, and Egypt doesnt have it and its probably not valuable enough to be able to swing a 2-fer with from Egypt.
Found Antium while I'm thinking.
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3162/antium8kx.jpg
Dyes come online a turn after
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3940/dyes1bk.jpg
I need Pottery NOW!!....
Barracks prebuild finishes in 2....
finishes in 1...
I buy Pottery from the Iroquois for the princely sum of 111 gold
Then turn around and sell it to Egypt for Cermonial Burial + 11 gold. Not too shabby I spose 100 gold spent all up to get 2 techs. I can live with that.
Figure that as they have all other first tier techs Alpha can't be far away so decide to sell it now. Get some of my money back off of the Iro, will try and make sure I get the wheel so I can trade it to Egypt... well that was the plan but apparently a straight swap would 'be insulting'. I can't get any techs i want off of Iroquois but off Egypt I can get Masonry and BW, which would be 'insulting' to the Iroquois which tells me they must no another civ who already has alphabet. I sell it to Egypt for Masonry and BW and then get 107 gold from the Iroquois for it. So this turn I gained 7 gold, 3 techs and better relations with my neighbours, lost 1 tech.
Then about 4 turns later America shows up... well that could have saved my a fair bit of gold had you rocked up earlier! Thanks guys, you're swell  oh yeah they already have Alpha as well.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5648/america7gn.jpg
Then the Germans rock up!
And I can't trade anything.
And then Russia rides into town....
Ahhh Russia has the wheel but not Iron Working, everyone else has IW and the Wheel. See what I can do here....
180gold buys IW from Germany. (ahhh the joys of a min run on writing first up ;) really pleased with that decision in retrospect)
Sell it to Russia for Mysticism +1 gold.
Sell Mysticism and IW to Egypt for the Wheel + 9 gold, and I now have parity with everyone but America and Iroquois who ar both up HBR on everyone.
Have a looksy around... and no Iron, ouch....
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 05:55 PM And the Roman Empire Circa 2150 bc
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/6028/21507nv.jpg
Sima Qian Feb 11, 2006, 06:17 PM Ugh, a tight squeeze. Is Germany to the south of you, or is that just where their unit randomly showed up?
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 06:28 PM Thats where they came from, as did the egyptians and the russians. I think I might be able to get perhaps 4 more cities in. The granary seems to be a bit of a waste after all though if I mine the irrigated cow once the expansion finishes then I can turn it into a worker factory.
conquer_dude Feb 11, 2006, 06:54 PM Get more than 4 more cities. :wow:
Mr David Feb 11, 2006, 07:31 PM Hmm... Rome, Deity, close neighbors...
Perfect situation for smashy smashy! :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:
But no iron and legions make Homer go crazy
Wait a minute... you stopped talking as Tupacius! Are you going to write a game log now?
conquer_dude Feb 11, 2006, 07:40 PM Tupac is dead and everyone knows that. :p
stocktracker Feb 11, 2006, 07:54 PM This game looks like a challenge, but I guess it does make it enjoyable to read.
tupaclives Feb 11, 2006, 08:05 PM @ Mr David: No Tupacius just wanted to have his servents get the start out of the way before he really got stuck into the tactical side of it all. But it won't be as much of an actual story like 'The Australian Empire'.
@ Conquer_dude: I meant 4 additional cities, so a total of 7 before I start a bit of :hammer: :hammer:
and don't be silly...
Tupac lives on!!
tupaclives Feb 12, 2006, 01:37 AM Tupacius had just finished learning to write and was considering teaching it to his friends.
His advisors asked why would you want to teach them to write? We could get a headstart on the big library idea!
but Tupacius didn't care about a library, as he said 'what good is a big library when we don't have enough cities or troops?'
Tupacius decided to learn to count so that he could throw big rocks at people and would teach all his friends about writing.
Hiawatha gave him 94 gold and taught him about Horseback riding and Bismarck, the bald pratt, who was the only one with anything to offer for writing gave Tupacius 159 gold to learn how to write.
Tupacius also paid to get a house in the capital of every other people he knew.
Cumae was founded in 1990bc.
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/6329/cumae4wn.jpg
Tupacius looked around and try as he might he couldnt see any iron. He wanted iron like a fat kid wants cake. He called his military advisor to ask about alternatives.
MA: Well we don't actually have any other offensive troops that we can build besides archers
Tupacius: Ahh! Archers, attack 3, defence 2! Brilliant go for it!
MA: ahh no thats Civ II you're thinking of...
Tupacius: Oh of course silly me, well the defensive freeshot will be useful I suppose.
MA: Um no sorry thats only in conquests.
Tupacius: So what is so great about archers then?
MA: Well um... they are attack 2..?
Tupacius: Oh yay...
Neapolis was found in 1790bc so that cheered up Tupacius a little
http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/4843/neapolis5jz.jpg
And this was followed by Pompeii one hundred and ten years later.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5061/city4no.jpg
But when Tupacius decided to check on his friends he was not happy. Hiawatha and Bismarck had traded writing around to Cleopatra pretending it was their own and she had thought of using it to make maps and even worse some of the others had arleady learned how to count
this made Tupacius sad. But to cheer himself up he threw a few people to the lions and decided to buy Cleopatra's map.
Romes TM and 23gold bought Egypt's TM
Also Russia was down HBR and Writing but up maths so Tupacius sold HBR to Russia for Maths and 1 gold.
Also Hiawatha sold his TM to Tupacius for Tupacius' TM and 3 gold.
Now that Tupacius knew how to count he decided that if he had money he would be better than everyone else so he decided to make a currency for his people to use with pictures of him on it.
And decided to see if anyone else had thought of making maps. The bald pratt didn't want to sell his TM for a reasonable price so Tupacius had to give him his own TM and 23gold just for the bald pratt's map.
TM and 18 gold got Honest Abe's TM though after the trade Tupacius didn't think he was very honest anymore.
The MA also had the good news that as a result of training a few archers Rome was now 'average' militarily compared to everyone except Egypt and America.
'Honest' Abe came along and demanded that Rome give America a gift. Tupacius was not impressed
Tupacius: Ooooo if I had iron right now you would be so dead!
Abe: Yer well you don't so tough biscuits
Tupacius: Just you wait, my archers are going to go take someone elses iron and then I'll train some legionaries and before you know it you're gunna be gone!
Abe: Look are you going to give me tribute or do I have to declare war on you?
Tupacius: mumble, mumble, mumble Yes ok take your 9 gold and my territory map... SEE IF I CARE!
After the business with Abe Tupacius realised that he really did need some iron. So he found the nearest source.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8215/nuremburg0fd.jpg
German, far away from the core, not to far away from my core. Perfect. Hispalis was built with the exact purpose of shortening the distance to the iron and all the archers rome could spare were sent there in preparation for the assault.
Then the bald pratt made a BIG mistake
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/6113/demandger7tt.jpg
Tupacius told him to shove his bald shiny head right up his fat shiny...
well anyway Bismarck didn't like the comment.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5083/warger5jl.jpg
Tupacius' war started well, killing off the German Archers who dared to be in his territory. The counter attack against his stack of archer doom was a failure and Tupacius was looking forward to a quick brutal and succesful war.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8049/razenurem3ce.jpg
True to his plan Tupacius quickly took and razed Nuremburg giving him access to the precious iron... just as soon as his setller got there. Now his archer stack would have to defend Rome against the inevitable counter-attack...
Luckily the bald pratt only sent a handful of vet horses and they were easily dealt with by the super-archers.
What will happen next time? Will Germany send a proper counter-attack force? will I attack actual Germany? Will I get that iron at last? And will Abe see a rekoning for making demands of me?
Sima Qian Feb 12, 2006, 01:42 AM Nicely done so far. Any chance of getting allies to kill Germany for you, or is this going to be just you vs. deity AI?
tupaclives Feb 12, 2006, 01:56 AM I dialed everyone up but i couldnt afford to sign any of them into an MA. However I doubt Germany will sign anyone on their side as they started the war. My plan is to :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: all the troops Germany sends and maybe 1 more city and then sue for peace. I have my iron (well I will soon) and I might start a bit of an oscilating war strategy I used to great effect on a recent Deity Pangea game where I just take a city or two from each neighbour and jus keep warring from one opponent to another, signing everyone in on the act when I go against someone new. That game ended in a domination win in 690AD for me just before the start of the IA. Of course I had a perfect start and the AI wars went perfectly for me as well so I doubt I'll have that happen again here.
conquer_dude Feb 12, 2006, 10:04 AM Go Tupac! :D This story rox man time for more :hammer: ing.:)
Edit: Wouls you midn showing us the map of what you know and where the German area, please?;)
tupaclives Feb 13, 2006, 02:52 AM Finally Tupacius' grand experiment with making a money for his people to use instead of the old method of bartering was finally complete.
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/2569/currency9jr.jpg
This was called currency and Tupacius' friends were very keen to learn about it.
'Hones' Abe agreed to teach Tupacius about the law and also about thinking about thinking, what he called philosophy. To sweeten the deal Abe threw in 95 gold and a map of the entire known world.
Cleo then offered Map Making, Philosophy, WM and 1 gold for Currency and Code of Laws.
Tupacius was pleased with his experiment overall and became even happy when he founded yet another city, Lugdunum, so that he could grab the iron that used to belong to Germany.
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/7839/lugdunum4oz.jpg
Now that Tupacius had what he wanted from the German War he dialed up the bald Pratt.
Tupacius: Ok baldy tell you what I've got what I want out of this war so how about we call it quits and go have a nice steak, you look like you could use some red meat.
Bismarck: Grrrr what'd you want for peace?
Tupacius: How about you teach me construction? Oh and you can shout for the steaks.
Bismarck: I'm not shouting for the steaks!
Tupacius: Ok how much are a pair of steaks gunna cost me??
Bismarck: Oh I dunno... 150 gold?
Tupacius: Fine I'll pay for the steaks.
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1096/peaceger5jh.jpg
Now that Tupacius was at peace, and had the iron within his borders it didn't take long to get the iron hooked up.
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/4189/iron1pn.jpg
Cleopatra  however wasn't content to let Tupacius live happily by himself. She saw the lovely dye's he had access to and wanted some for her hair.
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/9366/demandegypt5xc.jpg
Tupacius, as much as he liked Cleopatra could not possibly let her just HAVE the dyes so he said no. However Cleopatra, tempestuous woman that she was, didn't like being turned down.
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/5945/waregpyt0nz.jpg
Now Tupacius had a bit of a problem. he had trained 30 archers and half a dozen legionaries but his forces were spread thinly and the vital town of Lugdunum was lightly defended. He sent the bulk of his forces there, leaving some to police the cities, but the main lot of them went to Lugdunum and half a dozen sat on top of the iron mountain to make sure that Egyptian swords couldnt pillage the iron. The battle for Lugdunum was very tight and Tupacius was left with just a single redlined archer in Lugdunum and a yellowlined archer on the iron mountain. But close to a dozen swords had been killed. A big force of 3 legionaries and a dozen archers had been sent to attack the Egyptian border town of Asyut. Asyut was a perfect town to attack. It was on the border, lightly defended, and most valuably it had access to one of the precious sources of ivory.
The powerful counterattack force succeeded in taking the city, razing it.
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/9320/asyut7ah.jpg
Egypt had dropped off an attack force near Rome to try and strike behind Roman lines, but Tupacius' had cleverly stationed several legions to counter such tactics and their victory launched Rome into a Golden Age!
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/2310/goldenage0yu.jpg
And having lost their main attack force and one of their cities, thankfully, Cleopatra was willing to talk peace.
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/791/peacegypt6xy.jpg
Now that everyone was friends again Tupacius offered to sell Cleopatra some of the lovely dyes for her hair for a mere 9gpt. With 2 spare lots of dyes, Tupacius sold the other spare dyes to Cathy of Russia in exchange for some of her expensive furs. Tupacius' dyes werent enough for Cathy so he had to throw in 3 gpt of Cleo's money to sweeten the deal.
He then founded the town of Lutetia to gain access to that Ivory he fought so hard to get.
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/6773/lutetia4rf.jpg
Mirc Feb 13, 2006, 03:58 AM Great story! Rome is the best civ in the world! Conquer them all! Go tupacius!
Lord_Iggy Feb 13, 2006, 09:19 AM Niiiiiice.
Mirc Feb 13, 2006, 01:51 PM And, BTW, IMHO Cleopatra is ugly! It's not like Joan ...
Takeo Feb 13, 2006, 02:06 PM Nice Job!
Could you show a overall shot of your empire?
conquer_dude Feb 13, 2006, 06:08 PM And, BTW, IMHO Cleopatra is ugly! It's not like Joan ...
IMO opinion Joan is ugly. I like Theodra.:p Just kiddin they're all ugly
Nice update Tupac. Looking for more.
stocktracker Feb 13, 2006, 10:10 PM With two successful early wars, three luxuries, and iron shows that this start wasn't as bad as everyone thought it was.
tupaclives Feb 14, 2006, 11:54 PM Tupacius had beaten the bald pratt and stolen his iron.
He had survived Cleopatra's scorn (and we all no that hell hath no fury like a womans scorn) and taken her ivory she used for jewelry while he was at it.
The only person who had got the best of him so far was 'honest' abe. And Tupacius had plans to get back at him.
After the lovers tiff with Cleopatra, Tupacius had redirected his armies to the American border, and when he felt he had sufficient forces.
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/4810/warus1jk.jpg
Tupacius hit Seattle, the nearest city with the full force of his new legions and gave a bit of :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: to the defenders.
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/6393/seattle7mo.jpg
With some space opened up after burning Seattle, Tupacius was able to build his own city, Byzantium, nearby.
http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/7047/byzantium5bp.jpg
Now Tupacius gave serious thought to ending things there but he felt Abe hadn't quite learned his lesson yet... well that and Tupacius fancied having those ponies near Buffalo. He'd always wanted a pony and now he could have one.
http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/9069/buffalo2co.jpg
Just to make sure the people of Buffalo didn't get any nasty thoughts about betraying him he whipped them into a slave group, garrisoned the city with several legions and burned the nearest American city just for good measure.
http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/4528/boston2qz.jpg
With all that open space Tupacius took the opportunity to build some new cities.
Brundisium in 150BC
http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/5483/brundusium6yo.jpg
And Syracuse forty years later.
http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/3237/syracuse6qb.jpg
Tupacius now felt he had taught Abe a lesson about being rude when asking for gifts and so dialed him up for peace.
Tupacius: Hey Abe, how are we??
Abe: mumble mumble mumble
Tupacius: I'll take that as a 'very well thank you Tupacius'. Look Abe sorry about burning those cities but... you know... I mean, who gives a smeg its only you? All this fighting is very silly don't you think, how about we make peace and make up?
Abe: Knowing you I'll probably end up losing my shirt.
Tupacius: (looking shocked) Abe... I'm sorry but my bread's not buttered that side, very flattering though.
Abe: What?
Tupacius: So how about Feudalism, Monotheism, and some workerism?
Abe: What's workerism?
Tupacius: I meant those two worker groups you've got sitting in your capital.
Abe: Oh right... I see, very funny.
Tupacius: Yes I thought so.
Abe: Agh! Yes alright we can probably do that deal... you can't spare 647 gold for the bus trip back to America can you?
Tupacius: Oh I can probably manage that, but only because it you. Oh well tata Abe, hope we meet again.
Abe: mmm yes... goodbye, actually I hope you die in a freak yachting accident!
Tupacius: Oh, now Abe I'm sure you don't mean that!
Abe:
http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/8732/peaceus0pa.jpg
tupaclives Feb 15, 2006, 12:36 AM Tupacius now took the opportunity to do some important trading matters. He was also a tad dissapointed to discover his Golden Age was over... :(
First he dialed up good ol' Cathy and offered to sell her Polytheism in exchange for Literature, of course the big library had already been built by Cleopatra but a few little one's wouldnt go amiss in Rome.
Then while glancing down near the Egyptian border Tupacius noticed something very odd.
http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/4867/egyptfront4vj.jpg
Your boys on holidays in southern Rome 'ay Cleo? Well since we'r being so friendly too each other how about you teach my Chivalry? I'll be so nice as to pay you a whopping 50 GPT for it. Sounds like a neat deal ay!
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/9114/chivalry6ux.jpg
Ok now thats done, could you mind telling your boys to... well, PUSH OFF!
Oh...
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/4595/waregypt22xm.jpg
Gee Cleo, you're breaking my heart here
Hiawatha my good old friend, you said you wanted some dyes didnt you?
Well how about I give you 10gpt as well? Whatd u mean whats the catch? Oh well... could you do me a favour?
http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/9955/irovegypt5xl.jpg
Hey Baldy... I mean Bismarck... heh  sorry about that. Yes your hat doesnt cover it sorry. How would you like some dyes? You look like you could use some cash as well. Its your lucky day! Oh btw, you never really liked Cleopatra did you?

http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/8181/worldmap9mb.jpg
Looking at the front again Tupacius was a little concerned by the fact that the bulk of his army was still in America... he hoped the garrisons he'd left on the border, specifically to defend against this, would be strong enough to hold out.
He, like you, will just have to wait until the next installment of
'By Jupiter!' Rome on Deity
Lord_Iggy Feb 15, 2006, 09:29 AM Yay!!!!!!!
Takeo Feb 15, 2006, 02:16 PM Woohoo! Go, Tupacius, Go!! Legions are awesome, aren't they?
madviking Feb 15, 2006, 02:17 PM MORE! MORE! MORE!!!

conquer_dude Feb 15, 2006, 04:24 PM Gargh Tupacious got a Tupac song stuck in my head.
Nice update and destroy that Cleo
Lord_Iggy Feb 16, 2006, 06:52 PM Another update?
tupaclives Feb 16, 2006, 08:19 PM Its coming ;)
Broke my arm so I've been going back and forth from hospital to specialists last two days :(
Ansar Feb 16, 2006, 08:27 PM Dont worry about updates. How long till the arm gets better? :)

Broke my arm so I've been going back and forth from hospital to specialists last two days :(
Eeek! Hope you get well soon.
tupaclives Feb 16, 2006, 09:13 PM Tupacius had a hell of clean up job on his hands. His forces in the south numbered just 5 legions, 4 catapults and 11 archers while the invading Egyptian forces had 6 warriors, 3 knights, 2 pikes and 17  swords.
Tupacius knew that his fortified legions in walled towns were defending at 6.75 and the highest attacking force would be at 4 but that wouldn't stop RNG from screwing him over.
So Tupacius had to take matters into his own hands. After cleaning up the stacks a little with catapults and thinning them out with archers, he decided to play a little cat and mouse with Cleo.
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/5382/heloooo1yl.jpg
Tupacius knew that by leaving a city undefended Cleo would go straight for it, leaving her troops in the open to get :hammer:
Just as expected the stupid egyptians walked right into the open, Tupacius' men attacked and...
http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/1364/trajan9jy.jpg
In the fires of battle Trajan was born! (his parents always were into kinky stuff) He immediately was made a general of an army and all the available legions (1 :crazyeye:) were placed under his command. The attack on the injured sword nearly proved disastrous but the legion 'army' survived, although was redlined. Trajan published his memoirs and Tupacius erected a statue of a book in his honour.
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/3687/heroicepic3pg.jpg
Egyptians kept traipsing across Tupacius' lands and so he kept shifting the defenders around so that the Egyptians kept marching toward which ever city was empty and didnt even notice that they were being pounded by catapults and generally cut down by Romans.
They didn't even notice they'd had their clocks cleaned
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/3723/hadrian5sw.jpg
Hadrian went back to Pompeii and after a lot of yelling and ordering people about was able to get Sun Tzu's finished straight away, instead of in a few thousand years.
http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/8374/suntzu9hl.jpg
Finally the troops from America had arrived and gathering together under the protection of General Hadrian's army (which was finally an actual army instead of 1 legionary) they marched on the Egyptian city of Buto.
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/6982/sod0nq.jpg
http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7338/buto5mz.jpg
Now Tupacius had to do some working out. Buto was a level 3 culture city, size 8 and relatively close to Thebes. Flip risk?
Huge.
But Tupacius did some calculations.
Say 2 turns of quelling to get rid of resistance, so at least 2 turns of starvation thanks to tax collectors taking everyone's money. So say down to size 6.
Whip the settler (25-29 shields so 2 population) drops to size 4. Builds the settler, drops to size 2.
Tupacius thought he had enough men to keep the city under control if he did that, and he would only need to take at most 4 turns of risk by having his men in the city. He decided to take that risk.
Tupacius' empire was in good shape. Egypt was on the backfoot, although Iroquois and Germany had still yet to contribute anything to the war besides bills for Rome. Tupacius decided to have some lunch, and then he would consider his position further.

My arm is ok but I'm very upset as I'm out for 5-6 months which means I'll miss the rowing season (was hoping to go to nationals this year), the cricket (means i miss all the rep games and I'd just been picked in the First XI for school), Rugby League (had just been pickeded in the firsts), the futsal season (we were in 2nd and im the league's top goal scorer so far) and soccer (captain of the First XI) so quite dissapointed about that. On the bright side it means more time for Civ I suppose.
conquer_dude Feb 16, 2006, 09:27 PM Nice update. Can't wait until the next one. ;)
Sorry bout your arm that must suck.
tupaclives Feb 16, 2006, 11:08 PM Tupacius assessed his position. He was stronger than Cleopatra (even if he did have 1 useable arm) but he would need to do some cleaning up on the border before he took to the offensive.
So he gave his troops a gee up speech then sent them off to tidy things up. Once the border was nice and clean he assessed the tech situation.
Down engineering on Iroquois,
Down Monarchy, Theology (and who knows what beyond) on all civs.
A quick trip to the embassy in Salamanca for Tupacius and while he was there, he subtly slipped into the science place n nicked the knowledge of Engineering, and Theology.
After whipping Buto it had fallen, not to size 2 as expected, but to size 1. Tupacius was pleased and decided to use the settler to found a new town, once some more Egyptian ones were burned.
Asyut looked like a good choice
http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/7257/asyut0hm.jpg
The force stationed at Buto then headed to Elephantine. And won without taking a single casualty! However the city was just an army-killing flip waiting to happen so it had to burn.
http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/7033/elephantine8it.jpg
Then he built the town of Caesaraugusta.
http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/7862/caesaraugusta2xk.jpg
In 260AD, after 370 years of war () Tupacius called up Hiawatha and the bald pratt and cancelled the alliances
Tupacius: Look fellas, I know we are in this together but so far you've done absolutely bugger all. I'm trying to be nice but I'm not going to pay you wagonloads of $$$ for you to sit there and watch me pound cleopatra.
Bald Pratt: I'd pay to see that... shes so fine...
Tupacius: Shut up Baldy, errr, Bismarck. Look this deal is over, fugghedaboutit.
Hiawatha: Awwww... I want some dyes
then Tupacius dialed up Cleo
Tupacius: Cleo, baby, this little tiff has gone on long enough dont you think?
Cleo: Certainly, so we'll jsut call it quits then?
Tupacius: Not quite, you see you declared on me so i want a little 'sorry' present.
Cleo: Like what? I told you before I'm not going to...
Tupacius: No, not that. Look hows about you teach me about this whole 'education' business and um, the thing where I'm in charge by divine right?
Cleo: Monarchy?
Tupacius: Yeh, thats the one.
Cleo: Gee, i don't really think thats fair.
Tupacius: OK i'll throw in Engineering and 40 gold, now you can't say fairer than that sweetie.
Cleo: Oh fine, all right I'll accept that.
Tupacius: Great, now have you learned your lesson?
Cleo: What lesson?
Tupacius: Dont #@!% with Tupac!
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/6674/peacegypt7dm.jpg
Now that Tupacius was no longer GIVING dyes to the iroquois he was able to charge for them. Calling back Hiawatha he got a very pleasant deal for his dyes.
Incense AND cash, gee isnt Hiawatha a great guy!
Now Tupacius felt that, great ruler though he was, that some of his people might be almost as smart. So he decided to give up a little bit of his power.
http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/8900/anarchy5zu.jpg
errr that wasn't quite what he meant.
http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/2636/republic2my.jpg
Ahhh thats more like it. Income jumped from +72gpt at 10.0.0 in Despo, to +102gpt at 10.0.0 in Republic, without any riots. He also founded two great new towns, Palmyra and Jerusalem. Both in the lands of Egypt.
Tupacius would now have to disband some of his armies probably, but that could wait. Someone was getting a little stronger than Tupacius liked...
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/8990/theempire5ue.jpg
Tupacius was shocked to learn that he was still in dead last, behind such 'powerhouses' as Russia and America (who now had 2 cities)
tupaclives Feb 16, 2006, 11:11 PM The Lands of Tupacius
http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/1347/empire0ol.jpg
Sima Qian Feb 16, 2006, 11:19 PM Woah, dead last in what category? Score? I would've thought that by 260 AD enough turns had passed for the other civs' downfall to get calculated into score.
Nice play, but I sense a nasty showdown with the Iroquois eventually... good luck.
tupaclives Feb 17, 2006, 01:22 AM score and culture, about 3rd in power. the reason is largely because the other civs have been republic's since about 300bc while its now 370ad and ive only just made the change to Republic.
k-a-bob Feb 17, 2006, 08:35 AM Better catch the Iroquois before they run away - they got a lot of land from the Americans...
tupaclives Feb 17, 2006, 04:40 PM Tupacius was wary of the growing power of the Iroquois, he kwew*he would have to deal with them eventually. However he needed a short breath to build up his new acquisitions and to refocus his armies, he didn't want them caught out of position in THIS war. To help prepare for the war he decided to head back to Salamanca and nicked the secrets of Invention.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/2149/invention8wz.jpg
Years went by with out much happening then, just 2 turns before the dye-incense deal with the iroquois expired...
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/8211/russiaviro5yr.jpg
This was the moment then, once the dyes-incense deal was finished he would have to get in on the act.
Once the deal had finished, Tupacius dialed up the lovely cleopatra wiht an offer she couldnt refuse.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/1922/allyegypt3qb.jpg
Baldy wasnt keen to go to war with Hiawatha, but when Tupacius offered to help deal with Abe, he warmed to the idea.
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9205/allygerm7av.jpg
Tupacius' army was in position and was able to strike immediately. The large Iroquois city of Oil Springs was the target. 6 knights moved ahead of the main force and...
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/558/oilsprings2in.jpg
the city was burned to the ground, this gave Rome a supply of native furs and dropped the cultural pressure on nearby cities.
Tupacius needed a luxury to replace the incense he was no longer gettting from the Iroquois. So he called up baldy and discovered he had no iron. Iron was enough to get spices from him as well as a map of the world, including hte lands of the Zulu and Aztecs.
A settler who had been travelling with the army coincidently founded a new city on the site of Oil Springs, Caesarea.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5753/caesarea1qm.jpg
And while counterattacking at Caesarea...
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4671/maximus0en.jpg
Russel Crowe! errr, Maximus. Maximus would be saved for a little while to build the Forbidden Palace, so for now he headed to Rome.
The rest of the knights from the main stack moved along the new Roman roads and attacked Grand River and turned it into a Grand Pile of Ashes.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/8904/grandriver9ut.jpg
Meanwhile the legions, under the cover of general Trajan attacked Houston and burned it down, to make way for the new Forbidden Palace City.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5330/houston2gm.jpg
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/2743/tupaciusarea3pq.jpg
tupaclives Feb 17, 2006, 05:26 PM Maximus' job was to build the Forbidden Palace (aka. a summer house for Tupacius) and so he headed to Tupaciusarea and...
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/9311/forbiddenpalace7au.jpg
The knights, near Atlanta, where attacked by Iroquois Longbowmen while resting before their attack and one of them, who would hence forthe be known as Lucky B**** survived the assault and protected all the others.
http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/4166/germanicus3gu.jpg
Germanicus headed straight for Tupaciusarea to rush a wonder. However their were no suitable wonders available so it was left to Tupacius to arrange things.
Egypt had a monopoly on Banking, and both Egypt and Germany had music theory. So Tupacius made his way to Thebes and stole banking.
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/8717/banking1xj.jpg
Then turned around and sold it to Bismarck for Music Theory, a world map and 3 gold.
Now Germanicus was able to rush Bach's a nice wonder which would spell an end to all happiness problems at least until Sanitation.
http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/9743/bachs7en.jpg
He also founded Tarantum
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/8753/tarentum7ye.jpg
And those knights near Atlanta? Well yeh it had to go as well.
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/4871/atlanta9az.jpg
Tupacius also sent troops into neutral territory at the front, and then founded the defensive border town of Nicomedia.
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/2308/nocomedia0pa.jpg
Freshly trained knights from Rome made the long journey north to Chicago and captured the city.
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/2455/chicagoe3sc.jpg
Tupacius originally planned to burn the city, but as it had the Great Lighthouse, and he didn't have Astronomy, it made sense to keep it. Because he was taking it from the Iroquois, and there were no nearby American cities, it would probably be safe from flips.
Tupacius then continued the job of filling in the blank spaces
Seleucia was the next city, in 580AD but there would be many more to come.
The knights from Rome, and the elite field knights attacked Washington and during the battles

conquer_dude Feb 17, 2006, 06:45 PM Go TUPAC!!! :D
tupaclives Feb 17, 2006, 07:59 PM Tupacius was ready to finish the war with the Iroquois, but he did not yet have everything he wanted. His plan was to severe the American colonies from the teet of Iroquois control. New York, San Fransico and Oka were all that remained in former American lands though.
Tupacius continued to resettle the now empty lands of America.
The knights in Miami took a break from tanning to raze New York. The city that never sleeps became the city that shall never wake.
http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/9268/newyork8gv.jpg
Tupacius heard that Cleo had started work on a trading company that would be the envy of the world.
So Tupacius paid another visit to Thebes. :mischief:
http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/9533/economics9eg.jpg
http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/5316/astronomy4mr.jpg
He then sold Economics and Printing Press to Germany in a straight swap for Navigation.
San Fransico fell shortly afterwards, while Tupacius was no longer worried about flips he didn't quite like the position of the city or the name... so he set fire to it.
http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/9761/sanfransico8gn.jpg
The only Iroquois city on the peninsula, Oka, fell in the same year and the acquisition of America was compelte.
http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/3101/oka4wg.jpg
To cap it off the power of the Iroquois was broken, they were well and truly gassed. Tupacius hadnt laid eyes on an Iroquois knight, pike, or longbow for decades. However Tupacius was prepared to stay in the war as long as he had to in order to get another Great leader to rush his own trading company with.
It didnt take long
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3290/adamsmith7gh.jpg
http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/7784/smiths8uq.jpg
Ok so its Smiths Trading Company not Tupacius' Trading Company but close enough
Now that Tupacius had everything he wanted from the war he dialed up Cleopatra
Tupacius: Look love, you've been great, we've had some good times in this thing haven't we? But you know, I just dont see this as a logn term thing. I'm sorry.
Cleopatra: What the hell are you talking about Tupacius????
Tupacius: Oh, err the war with the Iroquois...
Cleopatra: Oh right, so thats it then, after I've given you the best years of the MA you're just going to ditch me?
Tupacius: Yeh... but don't look at it like that! Think of it like me not really giving a damn about you!
Cleopatra: Gee that does make me feel better actually...
Now that Cleopatra understood Tupacius dialed up Hiawatha
Tupacius: Look bud, I'm sorry abotu this whole mess but you know we can still be friends, lets just end this whole messy business and call it quits.
Hiawatha: DOne
Tupacius: Keen ay, well in that case lets keep fighting!
Hiawatha: ummmmm... ok whatd you want Tupacius?
Tupacius: How much you got?

Tupacius is pleased to announce he is top in the power graph, 5th in score although still virtually non-existant in culture.
He is now 1st in land area, mfg. goods, GNP, productivity and annual income. Basicly all the demographics that matter besides Population (which he is in 5th)
conquer_dude Feb 17, 2006, 08:05 PM Nice update. You should ask for a city too from the Iroqios
tupaclives Feb 17, 2006, 08:13 PM I did, I asked for New Orleans, a nothing American city millions of miles away (it was the least valued city they had) and with nothing else it was only 'close to a deal' I can't remember the last time I played a game where civs would give citys for peace (of course other than the Australian Empire, Gandhi the Conqueror (an AW game) and Chinese Dynasty (no foreign cities) I can't remember the last time I played a game below Deity either.)
The 53gpt allows me to raise science by 20% and shaved 5 turns of mettalurgy. As more libraries come online the value of that 53gpt will increase as the benefits of beign able to lift science by 20% will be magnified
Takeo Feb 17, 2006, 08:42 PM Looks like you are in a very good position.:goodjob: Keep up the warmongering.
tupaclives Feb 19, 2006, 01:50 AM Tupacius now began to plot the downfall of the rest of his enemies. He decided that from now on he would plan his attacks not just to strengthen Rome, but also to make sure that whoever was the top dog would get taken down a notch.
Consulting his favourite advisors, F11 and F8, he decided that Egypt, who had the highest score by nearly 600 would have to be the next target. Egypt was weak militarily compared to Tupaicus' Rome so a full strike would be in order. However the first thing he wanted to do was to fix up a slight congestion problem around one of his cities.
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/456/hispalis18nl.jpg
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/8583/hispalis22lk.jpg
The move, although minor at the time, would have great long term effects for all the nearby cities.
Then once his knights were in position, and the defensive legions were ready, he dialed up Hiawatha.
Tupacius: Look Hiawatha, I'm sorry about ruining your Empire... and taking all your cash... and getting you under a dogpile you have no chance of getting out of. But look I'm willing to help you out here, you want to team up against Cleopatra?
Hiawatha: Yes, Yes, Yes!
Tupacius: Riteo!
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/9448/irovegypt1qc.jpg
Tupacius: Baldy, err Bismarck. We make a great team you and me, surely we can take on Cleo again. Just for old times sake?
Bismarck: Stop calling me Baldy, and don't call me Shirley either!
Tupacius: What? So is that a yes?
Bismarck: Well it'll cost ya.
Tupacius: How much?
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/1064/gervegypt5xf.jpg
Tupacius: Dirty Germans
Once Tupacius was sure his allies had his back he called up the pair of them and sold them some saltpeter to help fund his research, combined the pair paid 213 gold straight up and 49gpt as well as updating Tupacius' world map.
Tupacius then decided to put an end to Egyptian presence on his border.
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/6041/piramesses9fg.jpg
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/1471/hiercanopolis9uv.jpg
The two Egyptian cities, one at each end of the Empire were big cities but Rome couldn't compete with them culturally so they had to go. As Tupacius declared to his troops
Tupacius: Cleo's a fool, what good does culture do when the city is burning??
To demonstrate he then set fire to a temple only to have it repeatedly go out the soldiers were amazed... until, of course, Tupacius decided to wait for the rain to stop before trying again.
Loyal settlers from Rome then arrived to found two new cities
Arretium
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/6773/arretium5ip.jpg
and Gordion
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/8771/gordion9kj.jpg
Cleo kept dropping troops off in Roman territory from the sea. The Roman Coast Guard Legions had so far had no problems dealing with them but Tupacius wanted to put a stop to it all. So he gathered together his bulkus knights and ordered them to attack Thebes, to cut off Egypt's power in one fell swoop.
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/7650/thebes0bn.jpg
Tupacius wanted to keep the city, it had Cop's after all but he couldn't risk it flipping with his entire offensive force in it... so he gave the order and the lads burnt it down.
A settler was in the area quicksmart to found a Fort to heal the troops and grab that incense.
http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/5971/agrippina7xm.jpg
Meanwhile the homeguard Legions dealt with a few Egyptian trespassers and
http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/8404/octavian8ug.jpg
Octavian raced to Agrippina and formed an army. The vet knights who had been upgraded to Cavalry, would join it next turn.

I have 6 cavalry ready to be loaded into an army and the others will then assist in the charge, where we will take Giza and then systematically pick off the rest of the Egyptian cities on the continent. I'm willing to let them live on their island for now. They have iron and saltpeter on it so I'm willing to bet it doesnt have rubber and oil as well. This war won't last much longer.
conquer_dude Feb 19, 2006, 09:04 AM Nice update. Cant wait to see Cleo living on that pathetic island. :goodjob:
Edit: You might wanna take one city on that island, just so you can see what they are up to.
tupaclives Feb 22, 2006, 04:42 AM Tupacius was ready to go for one last big push on Cleo. His new army sitting in Agrippina had 3 cavs in it and it would lead the attack.
Giza dropped real easy
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/8017/01memphis3xx.jpg
Hiawatha wanted to stay at peace with Rome without making his peace payments. Unfortunately as Tupacius had virtually no troops on the Iroquois border he had to accept. Dam! there goes 56gpt. So to make himself feel better Tupacius sold iron to that idiot Hiawatha for a healthy 33gpt.
Tupacius was confident about things, he founded a new town where Memphis used to be (Cyrene) but the big news came back home.
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/5421/02azteclanding2bq.jpg
Now what were the Aztecs doing there? They were making several payments to Rome, and were at war with noone. There wasnt any chance they were just popping in for a cheerful visist?
Uh no.

Oh you little bastards!
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/9107/05artaxta6xm.jpg
Tupacius was FURIOUS! But he didn't let that cloud his judgement. His philosophy was 'don't get mad, get even!' so to start with he took those cities back,

Tupacius wasn't satisfied but at the moment he couldn't do much about it. His other motto was 'revenge is a dish best served cold'. Tupacius could wait. He would wait. And then ugly old Monty would wish he had never been born.
However what he could do now was get som friends to kick Monty around.
He dialed up Shaka
Tupacius: Look mate I have an incy bitsy favour to ask.
Shaka: What?
Tupacius: Could you smack Monty around for me?
Shaka: You mean with you?
Tupacius: err no I mean for me. I'll give you a lux.
Shaka: Thats not enough.
Tupacius: How about 2 luxs and you give me 20gpt.
Shaka: Get stuffed!
Tupacius: 8gpt?
Shaka: Well riteo then!

One day you will my friend, one day you will.
The cav army wacked Cleo at Thebes... er again!
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/9788/10thebes4kd.jpg
Advisor: Why did you keep Thebes this time but burned it the first time, it had Cops in it before!.
Tupacius: Ahh but this time its size 2 with no culture, hence, no flip risk.
Advisor: Ahh of course, but its in an awful position.
Tupacius: Right, but we don't have any settlers right now. And we don't want Baldy thinking of staking any claim to 'our land'.
Tupacius nearly had a heartattack when 3 aztec Knights landed next to the completely undefended Rome. Luckily the 'home guard' of legions was supported by a newly trained cavalry and the intruders were dealt with.
Russia then declared war on the Aztecs, how nice! Then Cathy managed to persuade old Abe (gee is he STILL alive??) to join the fun. Good kids them, must remember to hold off on wiping them off the face of the planet. Hope I don't forget...
Seeing as how Tupacius had just come up with the idea of 'gravity' he decided to build a university for one of his mates, Newton, in Antium. Now Antium had been working on a palace since BC times but with the some persuassive talking by Tupacius the builders were convinced to abandon the old plans and turn the nearly finished site into the universtiy. Nice guys.
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/152/11newtons8kg.jpg
Tupacius's force then arrived at Heliopolis on the German border. And Tupacius took it giving him a source of gems to trade with.
http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/6981/12heliopolis1qi.jpg
tupaclives Feb 22, 2006, 05:02 AM While glancing over Zululand in his god-like, omni-present, state Tupacius noticed that the Zulu were in the Industrial age. 'Well we'll just have to catch up' though Tupacius.
So Tupacius paid a visit to Zimbabwae.

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/6154/14magnetism4dq.jpg
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/9223/15democracy2df.jpg
Now feeling safe, confident and powerful in the Industrial Ages with good mate Shaka, Tupacius decided to press on with the Egyptian war. Even though his people were getting less and less happy about it. Still, they can't be unhappy about this.
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/8066/16memphis8sb.jpg
Uhh, apart from the whole burning Great Wonders and genocide business.
To give his ladz a staging point in the south Tupacius built the town of Verona. Then from there the fellas went out to attack Alexandria. It may have had some sort of Great Library possibly, but it and the whole city got destroyed by fire. It got burned to the ground.
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/6238/17alexandria1js.jpg
And from there on they :hammer: at El-Armana.
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/1954/18elamarna8kr.jpg
And finally at Avaris.
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/7537/19avaris4yf.jpg
This meant Cleo had been cleared off the continent, so Tupacius dialed up the old bird.
Tupacius couldn't be bothered making conversation after such a long war so he simply stated what he wanted, Cleo said no cities so Tupacius said I'll have the rest, and that was that.

Sima Qian Feb 22, 2006, 08:07 AM Nicely done! Hopefully those Iroquois will head on home instead of wandering around in your backyard though.
conquer_dude Feb 22, 2006, 03:53 PM Well, stealing those techs sure ogt you to the next age! :)
tupaclives Feb 22, 2006, 04:08 PM Once you get a strong economy you cna pretty much give up on the idea of trading techs to Deity AI, steals don't contribute anything to them so it doesnt affect the tech pace, you almost always cheaper than if you bought it off the AI and you can then recoup your money trading it around. Steals are an absolute godsend IMO.
stocktracker Feb 22, 2006, 05:43 PM Why did you raze some of Egypt's cities, were they poorly located?
conquer_dude Feb 22, 2006, 06:36 PM Because he was probably afraid they might flip.
tupaclives Feb 22, 2006, 09:53 PM A bit of both, plus the slaves gained by burning larger cities are very handy, as you can merge 1 native worker for every 2 slaves gathered which increases your pop (and thus your commerce and production) and saves on upkeep.
tupaclives Feb 25, 2006, 07:14 PM Tupacius had barely had time to declare the Egyptian war over when new trouble came knocking at the door.
Seemingly not content with merely losing his first supply of iron, Badly Balding Bismarck had the gall to make demands of Tuapcius
Bismarck: Tupacius you are inferior, submit to Germany! Give us gems our women need jewelry!
Tupacius: Surely Rome can supply you with gems Baldy, provided you adequately compensate us. And I don't think you will find us inferior Baldy, we just haven't upgraded pikes and muskets to Rifles yet.
Bismarck: I warned you before Tupacius! I warned you not to call me Baldy! I warned you not to call me Shirley!
Tupacius: Ay?
Bismarck: You will wish you never insulted me Tupacius!
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/8/1germandemands2gl.jpg
Tupacius: Don't count on it bud :gripe:
Tupacius was not happy. Bismarck had been a strong ally and had grown more powerful on the back of Rome's conquests. Well now Tupacius would not go easy. Tupacius would make Bismarck suffer. Tupacius declared
'Bismarck can stick his 60% production costs upside his head! No more mister nice guy! I'll prove to the whole world, that you do NOT mess with Tupac!'
The first thing that Tupacius did was make sure someone had his back so he dialed up Hiawatha and asked for an alliance. Hiawatha would accept without payment but Tupacius needed him strong to provide credible opposition to Germany and so Tupacius gifted the Iroquois into the Industrial Age.
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/5418/2iroalliance6px.jpg
Tupacius' next move was to dishearten the German people. The best way to do this was to inflict several lightning victories on the German people.
Elephantine fell without true opposition.
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/2028/3elephantine8cu.jpg
The ancient Iroquois fortress of St. Regis was freed from Germany's grasp.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1497/4stregis5rr.jpg
And the old Russian town of Tblisi was 'liberated' by the Roman army.
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/8048/5tblisi3ac.jpg
Tupacius sent numerous settlers to the south to establish new towns in the old lands of Egypt.
He also decided that the best way to cut German power was to destroy their only effective offensive weapon. Their one army.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/7218/6germanarmy0od.jpg
Heavy cannonfire yellowlined the army and Tupacius sent for the Elite Cavalry.
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4461/7deadgermanarmy1ea.jpg
Although the victory didn't generate a new leader the charge of the Elite Cavalry at Byblos, the last of Germany's Egyptian holdings, did.
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/163/8leader16gf.jpg
The leader was ordered to wait until the city was captured so that he could form an army. He didn't have to wait long.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/7338/9byblos7jw.jpg
Tupacius then called up Ugly Old Monty. He didn't think he had learned his lesson but he was willing to give him some reprieve for good behaviour... well that and they were about to be wiped out by the Zulu and Tupacius wanted something from the war besides War Weariness.
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/6050/10aztecpeace5bb.jpg
The next move was to start to strike at Germany's outer core. A brave (read fat-fingered) attack on Konnigsberg resulted in a great victory for Tupacius' lads. However as it had more chance of flipping then of Tara Reid getting drunk at a party it had to burn.
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/5331/11konigsberg5pd.jpg
Tupacius was about to take a lunch break but first he called up Shaka and sold him the secrets of Steam power for a very lucrative:
192gp, 189gpt and a world map.
'Not bad', thought Tupacius. 'Lets see how Germany fares once I've got some lunch in me!'
conquer_dude Feb 25, 2006, 07:19 PM Happy :hammer:ing. :D
Takeo Feb 25, 2006, 07:49 PM Go Tupacius! Hammer on old Baldy!
Show us a worldmap?
stocktracker Feb 26, 2006, 07:50 AM Once Germany is gone, you basically own that continent.
conquer_dude Feb 26, 2006, 09:53 AM You OWN Tupacious. :D
Could you show a map, and maybe a map of former Baldy's area? :)
tupaclives Feb 27, 2006, 04:14 AM Tupacius continued with ruthless agression. His forces fresh from Byblos were sent to take down the twin cities of Hamburg and Cologne... with Tupacius determined to wipe Germany off the face of the Earth two small cities never stood a chance.
http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/5726/12hamburg9at.jpg
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/9455/14cologne7kv.jpg
Like St. Regis, Mauch Chunk was an ancient Iroquois fortress possesed by Germany. Tupacius' men rode into the ancient city and were welcomed with open arms by the Iroquois people there. Who were subsequently taken as slaves and the city burned to the ground. Tupacius still remembered the first Iroquois war...
http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/5338/13mauchchunk0as.jpg
Tupacius' troops pushed on from Cologne after a short 2 turn break to heal, arriving at the gates of Munich. They kidnapped the Israeli athletes and... oh wait... wrong story...
They attacked the city and for once they held the city, for though it was located in the heartland of Germany, barely 4 tiles from Berlin, Tupacius knew he could hold it and it had one very attractive thing on offer.
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/7099/15munich4vq.jpg
With Magellan now under Tupacius' control, Tupacius now had control of all the wonders of the world save the Pyramids, Collosus, Oracle, Hanging Gardens and Leonardo's Workshop. To further add to his collection his men finished building a statue to commemerate the granting of Universal Suffrage, the right to vote to all men and women regardless of race, colour or religion. Provided they were Roman that is.
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/8660/16universalsuffrage1vt.jpg
The troops continued their advance from former Mauch Chunk, supported by reinforcements from the heartland moving up through Tblisi. The cavalry arrived at Heidleburg and attacked. Tupacius was hurt to see 7 cavalry die in succession but finally the city fell into Roman hands. It's rightful hands.
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/7465/17heidleburg1wr.jpg
The men in Munich were worried by the resistance being provided by the people of Munich and so the entire army left and attacked Berlin, to relieve some of that cultural pressure. The ancient German capital was attacked, captured and razed. Goodbye Oracle, goodbye Hanging Gardens. Oh well, Tupacius rationed that now he merely lacked only 2 of the world's wonders.
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/2692/18berlin6bp.jpg
However because the entire Eastern Army had departed Munich a solitary German Cavalry was able to liberate the city.
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/7184/19munich0rv.jpg
A furious Tupacius, furious at his lack of foresight that is, ordered its immediate recapture.
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/9364/20munich1id.jpg
German Cavalry coming out of Akwesane attacked the Western Army, resting in the newly built camp of Tupac Town. The elite cavalry defending the town succesfully saw off a veteran German cavalry and the battle produced a Great Leader who would henceforth be known as the Barber of Tupac Town, or Bismarck's Barber as the men preffered to call him.
http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/7391/21leader1ga.jpg
That leader immediately raced to Rome along the skeletal rail system and built a huge new military installation, called the Pentagon, which would allow Roman generals to boss around more troops at once.
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4376/23pentagon0ka.jpg
As an afterthought some of the cavalry from Tupac Town attacked Akwesane, as their way of getting back at the German's for attacking them, and lo and behold. Tupacius' men were yet again victorious.
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/854/22akwesane9vq.jpg
tupaclives Feb 27, 2006, 04:35 AM Tupacius finished his dinner and then hit the ground running. Quick trades were negotiated with the Zulu for some of Rome's luxury goods (of which she had many) in order to keep the Zulu's gpt as close to 0 as possible as that would prevent the Zulu from researching.
Then the cavalry were gathered together for a last push. Tupacius wanted all of Germany in the next 5 turns (or 25 years give or take). The cavalry out of Akwesane and Tupac Town smashed into Cattaraugus with enormous force, the 32 cavalry easily defeating the few reg rifles and taking the city.
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/2908/24cattaragus6rs.jpg
With access to the roads the remaining cavalry were able to reach and attack the former Russian city of Sevestopol. Tupacius then knew that Bismarck was a fool, the city was defended by muskets. MUSKETS!! Baldy was the biggest chump of them all, either that or he was really, really broke. Tupacius couldn't care either way. All he cared about was that the city was his.
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/7653/25sevestopol3xo.jpg
Then the Iroquois did a very, very silly thing.
http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/3404/26irovzulu4la.jpg
Sorry Hiawatha, Tupacius ain't gunna bail you out of this one!
The Roman troops in the East continued their march up the coast to Hannover. Yet another city defended by muskets, and yet another easy victory.
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/9400/27hannover1ma.jpg
Leipzig, the new German capital, was the next target for the Eastern Army as Tupacius easily rolled over the German defences. Cities were being held rather than burned as Tupacius had no fears about flips from German cities.
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4710/28leipzig3jh.jpg
The Zulu landed on Tupac's continent and had the audacity to take 2 of Germany's former Russian cities! Tupacius sent the combined Eastern and Western Armies to Moscow, making sure they got their before the Zulu they easily captured the city.
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/7118/29moscow9bz.jpg
Which spelled the end of Baldy's reign.

tupaclives Mar 01, 2006, 02:11 AM Tupacius surveyed the world as it was. This was each civilisation, as he saw it.
Rome: The glorious, loveable, all powerful empire ruling the worlds major continent.
Zululand: A powerful nation controlling a large portion of the world that was not Rome. Strong economically and militarily a clash between herself and Rome would be a fierce battle that would not be won by either side. The reason? Infantry were about to appear.
Iroquois: The third most powerful nation in the world. A nothing player in the tech race with a backward economy looking increasingly likely to die at any moment.
Egypt: Exiled on a small island they were hopelessly backward without any chance of ever improving.
Russia: A single city empire on the frozen, arse-end of the world's major continent with Rome as a neighbour.
America: These guys are still alive!?!?
Tupacius' plan?
Pick off the weak, weaken the strong and wind up and hopefully make Rome the only nation in the world before everyone else simply gave in.
First target: Egypt.
Second Target: Russia
Third Target: Iroquois
Fourth Target: Zululand
Fifth Target: Well hopefully someone will have picked off America prior to that.
Phase 1: Declare war on Egpyt.
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/1797/1egyptwar1kg.jpg
Check
Phase 2: Declare war on the Russians
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2024/3russiawar5mj.jpg
Check
Phase 3: Gain control of the continent. This would require some thought from Tupacius, first thing was to pick off the weak cities on the continent belonging to Egypt
http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/7159/2thebes5vr.jpg
and Russia
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2496/4kiev3jx.jpg
Tupacius was very suprised to find that Russia was still alive. A settler on a boat no doubt... but wait... what this?
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4769/snewhome5qa.jpg
Ahh so the longing running war between American and Russia had yielded some actual combat. Intruiging.
As Tupacius had no ships of any kind the final battle with Egypt would have to wait. Instead he pushed on with Phase 3: Gain Control of the continent with this clever tactical manouveure.
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/3356/6iroquoiswar1zd.jpg
Gee where did this huge Roman army come from :mischief:
Oh would you look at that, Niagra falls happened to be in the way.
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/476/7niagrafalls0fa.jpg
Luckily for Tonwanda it avoided the same fate. What? No it didn't succesfully defend itself. It's just still standing.
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/4739/8tonwanda8ek.jpg
The same could be said for Centralia, very lucky. It didn't even have anything worth preserving.
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/1706/10centralia5wa.jpg
And of course how could anyone even consider burning Salamanca when it has those lovely pointy things...
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/5289/11salamanca4xy.jpg
Allegheny should be so lucky...
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/6905/12algheny6uw.jpg
And with that Tupacius gained total control of the continent, but he still had three wars on his hands.
Mirc Mar 01, 2006, 02:14 AM :hammer:This game and this story are great.:hammer:

Sima Qian Mar 01, 2006, 02:25 AM Definitely looks like you'll have a lot of city razing to do on the islands to avoid domination victory. Good luck!
tupaclives Mar 01, 2006, 02:30 AM Tupacius started his continuing operations with some good news. Rome's production had finally been freed up.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/787/9wallstreet5bt.jpg
The extra 50gpt wouldn't go amiss either.
A pair of galleons had been finished in Ravenna and Pompeii and the Roman army could now head across the water to Egypt's isle to put an end to this whole unpleasantness.
The army started at Busiris...
http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/2001/13busiris7uh.jpg
...and continued to Lisht...
http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/5839/14lisht9er.jpg

...Curved back to Pithom...
http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/3925/16pithom7ib.jpg
...And finally wrapped up at Abydos.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9908/17abydos8ch.jpg
But wait... Egypt wasn't dead. Bugger, yet another bloody settler on a boat. Egypt might be around for a while.
Tupacius had a cunning plan to exploit the Iroquois war however. He dialed up Shaka and offered him a whopping 300gpt to learn about this fascinating idea of Communism. Shaka couldn't believe his luck.
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/9100/18acunningdeal0dn.jpg
However part of the deal had been that Rome would only continue to pay the Zulu for as long as they remained in an Alliance against the Iroquois...
Tyendenaga was the last remaining Iroquois city.
http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/6246/19tyendanga1rw.jpg

Cleopatra's settlers had plonked down two new cities on an island formerly owned by the Iroquois.

http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/286/25toe5br.jpg
Amazingly the second he had finished building a statue to commemorate the launch of his book, his mind was inexplicably filled with new ideas. He suddenly understood all about Atomic Theory.

And about how Electronics could work.
http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/3127/27electronics0se.jpg
He called up Shaka and found that his friend in the South had this idea for businesses called 'The Corporation' and his engineers had developed parts which could be replaced, or as Shaka liked to call them, Replaceable Parts.
Tupacius had no intention of sharing any of his own theories so it was back to donning the balaclava and the suction cups to go and steal this information for himself.

Overseas invasion of an enemy with infantrymen is going to be interesting. :mischief:
tupaclives Mar 01, 2006, 11:20 PM @Takeo: Just like in Zyxy01 Russian Polar Expedition, I would ideally like a conquest victory. Points for style and all that jazz (alae jacta est) but would be content to take a domination win. If i can't wipe everyone out before I hit that limit then my next game will be with conquest as the only available victory.
@Simple Monkey: yes it slipped straight passed me and I never got a screenshot... I never got to exact my revenge! As for the Zulu and their cursed Infantry. My plan is to land troops on their rubber and horse resources (horses rather than saltpeter as they can build rifles so theres no point stopping them having muskets, and id rather face longbows than knights so horses it is), take them out in turn 2 of the war (turn 1 the landing) then hit them in the Aztec lands with a huge force of cavs, infantry and artillery (lots of artillery!). Then continue to land troops on their territory and raze EVERYTHING.
Then turn around and wipe out the remaining civs on their tiny islands. Of course thats all assuming I don't hit the domination limit from culture expansion and the like... I am on a mac so can't run MapStat or anything similiar and as its Vanilla it doesnt have that helpful victory status screen.
tupaclives Mar 02, 2006, 04:23 AM Tupacius now began the task of building his army. The world was his target and he needed to be able to take on the world and win.
Tupacius longed to be able to charge headlong into Zululand at the head of an army of thousands and wipe them from the face of the Earth but he knew that Cavalry, even 113 of them, would be no match for Infantry. So he had to sit back, prepare himself, build his infrastructure and his armies. He wanted artillery, Infantry, and generals.
He also wanted information.

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/4302/2muchodenairi2bl.jpg
Tupacius now had money, and money makes the world go round. He also had information, and information is power. Who was it who said that? Tupacius had no idea.
Tupacius however knew he needed more power to be succesful against an overseas AI with infantry. The hydro-electric kind that is.
http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/8653/5hooverdam7lp.jpg
One of the things Tupacius wanted was Generals. If Tupacius wants then Tupacius shall receive.

Tupacius was preparing for his invasion when he recieved word from Rome. The builders had finally got round to building his house. Tupacius was overcome with joy and invited all the people of Rome to see the house that Tupacius ('s money) built.

Somewhere along the way America wiped out Russia. Tupacius must have blinked because he never even noticed.
Everything was going swimingly and Tupacius' men were at the borders of Zululand, hundreds of troops on tens of galleons ready to land in Zululand at a moments notice. Tupacius hit enter, his deals with Zululand expired. More troops were trained and the all of a sudden, with final, total victory imminent.... Or at least within sight...

Tupacius could have cried.
End-of-game review coming shortly
tupaclives Mar 02, 2006, 05:12 AM Below are the demographics, score chart, power and power and culture graphs.

As you can see I am top in everything that matters. If you ever get top in GNP, Productivity and Mfg. Goods after about 1000bc. then you will not lose militarily (culture, diplo and space are still possibilities). Period.

As in The Australian Empire once I started all out wars rather than little bite sized ones, my score jsut kept growing. Once I stopped warring, I stopped scoring. Pretty simple really.
http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/1189/15power5iz.jpg
Power is likewise, my power continued to grow slightly due to the huge number of troops being produced.
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/6954/16culture5rb.jpg
During the 'off season' (as it were) when I had time to build things besides troops my cultural score rose quickly thanks to all the cities giving me 4 or 5 cpt.
Tupacius is proclaimed...
http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/6276/17ranking9to.jpg
'Tupacius the Magnificent'! Well really that goes without saying ;)
Also I can't remember the last time I won a game and was not proclaimed 'yadda yadda the magnificent' so reall it doesnt impress me anymore.
Here is a picture showing just how dam close I was to commencing my invasion.
http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/2407/18sod0kb.jpg
The Zulu never had a chance...
And my glorious empire (not quite in full, but all the major areas)
The Central East.
http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/6644/19centraleast2sy.jpg
This includes Rome, and the my first Core as well as Cleo's Exile Isle, now renamed SG Isle and every city on it recognises one of the players who were involved in my first SG 'Chinese Dynasty' (link available in my sig). This whole area with the exception of SG Isle was pretty much on military units production. I was planning to mobilize when I began the war.
The South.
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/1385/20south7mm.jpg
This area was dedicated to the production of workers and settlers to bump up the population of important cities. This whole area was hopeless corrupt.
The Central West.
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/6007/21centralwest5xa.jpg
These are the lands of the Iroquois and Germany, some of this area was productive (although half production with a courthouse and police station so very corrupt) and the rest was desolately corrupt.
The North:
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/9778/22north2ry.jpg
This is the north of my empire, it features my second core around Tupaciusarea. This is also on military production with a few temples or other small improvements being completed to handle the loss of 2 luxs at the start of the war.
And here you can see how this victory ranks against my other wins.

For those who are observant you will notice that in No.3 is the Australian Empire victory. And in 1st is the victory from Chinese Dynasty. 5th was my first ever Deity game, played as the French. A week later I had another shot on the same map settings and recorded a domination victory which is still my highest SP score. That was a while back now (October I believe).
Also for those interested in playing out the invasion for themselves here is a save on the turn I achieved domination. The only significant deal with the zulu is up for expiry (the Atomic Theory deal) and you can get them to declare war by getting the agent in Zimbabwae to fail a sting operation (its cheap and gets you some war happiness). If anyone has a go at the invasion then PM me to let me know how you went, or post some pictures of how it went in this thread.
The save.
SimpleMonkey Mar 02, 2006, 05:48 AM Awesome job, Tupacius! You're right, Shaka didn't have a chance. I was thinking you'd have to move fast on Flight to be able to take him out. (I'm believe that the beeline to Flight even before Motors can spell all the difference in last IA warfare. Of course, C3C features lovely lethal bombardment.)
Anyway, great job. The oscilating early wars and getting iron ASAP seemed to have done the trick.
Takeo Mar 02, 2006, 07:07 AM Excellent job! and good story! :hatsoff:
stocktracker Mar 02, 2006, 07:30 AM I thought that maybe you would go after conquest, but getting that Zulu island would take a long time.
Mirc Mar 02, 2006, 08:23 AM Great job!:goodjob::thumbsup:
BuckyRea Mar 02, 2006, 09:19 AM Well done, but not getting to use that big ol' invasion force must've been a HUGE let down.
k-a-bob Mar 02, 2006, 11:32 AM I was about to post "WATCH OUT FOR THE DOMINATION LIMIT!"
as it looked by the map that you were dangerously close to hitting it.
I guess I was right ... and too slow. :king: :crazyeye:
Sima Qian Mar 02, 2006, 12:04 PM Well, nice try. It wasn't the win you wanted but you still did an excellent job of beating up the AI's. I hope to see more of it from you in the future!
Mirc Mar 02, 2006, 01:24 PM He could abandon some cities and go for Conquest, if he wanted.
I looked a little at the save. How can you micro manage so much??? I didn't have patience to play it one turn! About 70 workers finished work in the same turn!!!
Great job, again, after I looked at the save I realised it is better than I thought. But you don't own the entire continent. There is still one Zulu city there.:)
madviking Mar 02, 2006, 03:31 PM Great job!
tupaclives Mar 02, 2006, 03:45 PM @Mirc: I probably should have abandoned some cities to keep away from the dom limit but the idea just never occured to me. As for the MM once you get rails and factories I actually have a lot of fun maximising production, making sure every tile is used (if possible) that means minng some plains to use up that excess food, or irrigating some graslands to gain access to mounntain (lose 2 shields in order to gain 4 etc.). It takes a while, turns were taking a fair while to do because of workers but I could never automate the workers or my carefully worked tiles would get shot to buggery by the :weed: workers. I have around 90 native workers and well over 100 slave workers so they could easily spoil everything VERY quickly..
conquer_dude Mar 02, 2006, 07:30 PM
Excelent story.
Any plans to start a sid anytime soon? ;)
tupaclives Mar 03, 2006, 01:37 AM Unforotunately I am on a mac and cant find a copy of Civ Complete for Mac anywhere (although those annoying sales reps at Electronics Boutique keep trying to sell me a PC copy of Civ IV...) so SID isnt an option. If it was I would make a win on a continents game on SID my first priority. As it is I'm considering another story on deity. Perhaps AW, or Phoenix Rising (with diplo or space race the only available option). Phoenix Rising is particularly apealing as it would mean I would need to pull out every ounce of diplomatic muscle I have to get out of the whole. A DAW might be beyond my present skill level however.
Another option that is apealing to me is a standard Deity game with an average to poor start on Pangea. That way there would be a massive tech rate and without a great start to get me a decent deal of land I would be massively behind and stuggling for most of the game.
Actually how about a vote.
Say whether you'd rather:
a DAW game
a Phoenix Rising game (for those who arn't familiar with it, its simply an AW game until 10AD usually with the 'peaceful' victory conditions as the only options)
or a bad start on Pangea Deity.
SimpleMonkey Mar 03, 2006, 05:39 AM I'd like to see a bad start on Pangaea, but that's just me. I'm still having trouble with tech parity and expansion, and that's playing at DG. :(
tupaclives Mar 03, 2006, 06:20 AM I must confess I have never won a deity game on pangea. period. Actually I haven't won any of the 3 options i mooted on deity before. Any of them would be a challenge for me. To be perfectly honest I was tempted by a bad start on pangea too. Will wait for a few more people to offer their opinions before starting a new game.
Mirc Mar 03, 2006, 09:54 AM ^Maybe, but how many people ever managed to beat Deity (in any way)?
A DAW is what I would like to see.
Takeo Mar 03, 2006, 02:24 PM I definately vote for bad start pangaea.:D If I could put in a second vote, then I agree with Mirc on a DAW. I have been wanting to start another deity game with either a bad start or with a weak civ, or both.
tupaclives Mar 03, 2006, 05:20 PM Well I was keen to start a new game sooner rather than later. Opted for an average start on Pangea deity.

If you think that its too good of our start let me know and i'll roll up another.
Lord_Iggy Mar 03, 2006, 06:57 PM Nice finish tupaclives! Sorry I haven't been posting, I've been busy lately.
carmen510 Mar 26, 2006, 07:31 PM Excellent job man!!!
