Well, there wasn't a thread for this earlier, so I thought it would be good if anyone had any questions that aren't in any other thread to have one just for miscellaneous things.
One quick question, I was just wondering how to get access to my team's forum. Thanks for the help. By the way I'm on Team Innovia.

P.S. Ginger_ale, if you don't want this thread here, feel free to delete it.

EDIT: I just figured it out, no need to answer, and I apologize for mucking up the forums with my easy question.

From what i remember GA and RM dont have the powers of a mod: to delete threads/posts etc a better title would be good though :) such as Help Desk or something.

No need, I'll just let it be.

Well, the other RM does. ;)

But a central question thread is fine. Anyone have any questions? Post away, and they shall be answered. :)

If all goes to plan, when are we expectin to have the game start by?

1st of March? I really am not setting any start date in fear of rushing things. I don't care when it starts as long as it doesn't take too long - I don't want to forget anything...

Any ETA on when we can have an announcement of this game on the main page , PBEM forum and SG forum?

It would be nice if all teams had the highest caliber players CFC has to offer. Recruiting like Epsilon has done with DaveMcW and Kylearan is fantastic but I'd think getting word out in these other forums would make this "the mother of all games"! :D

lol so far we have no-one that plays above monach  so this recruiting may mean the teams would have more of an equal chance as well.

In a perfect world this is what I'd like to avoid in this game. It would be nice to have some high caliber players on each team and the reason I'd like to get the word out to these forums, HOF included.

It should be pointed out to these players that the MTDG doesn't require enormous amounts of time away from their SP games, SGs, HOF attempts and PBEM games they're playing. They can just throw in your .02 every day or so and go play your other games. That alone will have a positive impact for each team along with the learning curve for new players will be enormous.

Whomp, there is an annoucement in all the Civ4 forums! As for a main page annoucement, maybe not until the game starts. And sorry, not to sell ourselves short, but I think your goal of getting the best players to play here is simple unreachable, yet we can try.

Uh..cha.. Nice work getting in there GA.

Maybe with DaveMcW joining we may get a few other heavy hitters stepping to the plate. :D

As Epsilon has done, I encourage teams to get other people they know, that might be interested, active in this game ... it certainly brings a lot of competition and fun to the game!

Do you want a team name prior to getting a civilization ... or can we see what civilization we are playing before a name is finalised?

Ginger_Ale

Either works for me, as long as it doesn't take forever to come up with a team name.

Can you give examples of some treaties one would create in MTDG? Are they just aliances, or are they like trading resources, or both? Can some treaties be kept secret (like the German-Russina non-aggression pact of Aug 39)?

Ginger_Ale

Examples? Well, to protect the privacy of the the teams currently participating, I'll make up some fake ones. They could include:

"We will share every tech we get up until 1000 BC, and we will not declare war on each other until 1000 BC as well."

or "If we ever have an excess of a certain resource, we must first offer it to each other before we sell it to other teams."

or "We cannot settle cities south of the mountain range near city X, nor can you settle towns north of it."

Really, anything goes...it's much more open than the options in Civ4 diplomacy.

Oh, by the way, there is no date August 39th. August has 31 days. ;)

GeorgeOP I think diplomacy will be very interesting in this game even units, boats etc can be traded unlike Civ3.

As a wise person recently told me about these types of games... they're won as much or more off the field than on the field. There's a lot of truth in that statement. ;)

That indeed sounds like fun ... Cleaning Out Sale !!! ... Going Cheap Vintage Ancient Age Units !!! ... As Good as they were in the Good Old Days !!!

or maybe a Hurts Rent-a-Killer ... Joy Joy Can't Wait :D

A Question
I saw something in the pitboss thread about using go-to commands ... this is considered cheating in C3C  has the problem been fixed in cIV or will this be outlawed in the main MTDG ???

Ginger_Ale

I'm not sure fe3333au - maybe someone knows. My guess is that it has been fixed, since they probably would've been aware of the mistake and wouldn't have made the same mistake twice.

I notice that go to moves the unit at the middle of the turn, not the beginning like in Civ III. I think that fixes the problem.

This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway.

What is this game about? Is it just another succession game? or something else? I'd consider joining if I know what I'm getting myself into.

Thanks.

It is basically a pbem multiplayer game ... but each civilization is governed by a team of players.

Makes diplomacy very interesting ... Warning it is very addictive :D

Yeah, it's a group of 5 teams that are playing a standard game of Civ4 against each other in Multiplayer (PBEM style). We're only 20 or so turns in, so you haven't missed much! It's really easy to learn and understand the game once you sign up, trust me. :)

Excellent. Couple more questions though :)

So it's basically the entire team pitching in to decide 1 turn per email sorta thing?

I'm already addicted to all aspects of civ4, what's one more :D

Yeah that's it. The teams are probably organised quite differently, but I'm sure every team gives each member an equal chance to be heard. :)

Yeah, the teams have some screenshots and discussion for each turn, and some have stuff for long term planning, etc...

except for those of us that voted to run our civilization as a fascist totalitarian regime. And let me tell you, we don't have half the number of problems we have in the real game.

(I'm kidding, of course)
