Rik Meleet May 17, 2006, 10:41 AM to FE Chamnix May 20, 2006, 06:47 AM The MTDG is on turn 135 and still has a long way to go. At our current pace, this game will reach turn 135 August 20, 2007.... classical_hero May 20, 2006, 08:04 AM Don't forget that there are three more players. Chamnix May 23, 2006, 09:52 AM Update - turn 135 in this game has now been delayed until September 10, 2007 (at the current pace). There are more players in this game, but this game doesn't require consultation with teammates, and the MTDG save rarely stops dead for several days at a time (right now is an exception - these are unusual times). gbno1fan May 23, 2006, 09:57 AM I suppose I can support closing this game. It has been fun, but I don't think it is going to work with so many players from so many different locations worldwide. The logistics of getting everyone to be able to play quickly (especially since we all have time-consuming RL obligations), have been difficult. fe3333au May 23, 2006, 10:05 AM Are we closing this game? General_W May 23, 2006, 10:15 AM Maybe we should split this group in half… have a Yankee Doodle PBEM game for the Americans, a Down Under game for the Aussies, and if we haven't driven Rik off with our slow play, he could join either one. Just an idea. This game has gone waaay too slow. I for one can promise to take every turn within 24 hours of getting it… and hopefully sooner in most cases. gbno1fan May 23, 2006, 10:33 AM I have found that I am able to play a turn within 24 hours 95% of the time. Usually I end up playing it in the middle of the night, so if we do set up a Yankee game, we should put me in the order so that the game gets to me at night. Say between 10 PM and 3 AM Central Time. peter grimes May 23, 2006, 11:02 AM For what it's worth, I will have C3C on my new work computer, which, if all goes according to plan, will be set up before the end of June. I will want to do a PBEM once all of that is established. I'd not wait for me, though, as there's no telling if something will delay the schedule. General_W May 23, 2006, 01:53 PM I wouldn't mind waiting for you Peter! You were the first person to voice a desire to get into this game! Maybe we can figgure out how to get a PBEM game that will actually keep moving by the time you're ready to play :D ;) Speaking of which... Fe... Don't you have the save right now? Are you just holding it till we decide if we're going to keep this pbem on life-support? peter grimes May 23, 2006, 06:39 PM Dont' hold your breath - I'm planning on taking July off, and living at my Grandfather's summer house on a lake in New Hampshire. We have a computer there, but, for some reason, I really don't like using the internet there :hmm: azzaman333 May 24, 2006, 12:36 AM Due to the new internet filter at school, i havent been able to log in to gmail to play the saves while at school for a month or so. fe3333au May 24, 2006, 07:39 AM Speaking of which... Fe... Don't you have the save right now? Are you just holding it till we decide if we're going to keep this pbem on life-support? Do I ??? Damn  I may have inadvertently deleted it ... I appologize for holding up the game :( I appologize again ... so request save to be sent again :wallbash: However it seems that the slow turn around is of concern (which is not just me it seems) ... so I'll start the vote. While I am happy to continue, and will :salute: ... I vote discontinue. gbno1fan May 24, 2006, 07:44 AM Though I would have liked to continue this game - I vote to end it, and start 2 separate ones. azzaman333 May 25, 2006, 02:37 AM . :( I want it to keep going... Chamnix May 25, 2006, 06:19 AM I can go either way. If the game will finish, then I can live with the slow pace. The problem is that with long delays, there is an increased chance that it just won't restart. If the game is going to die, I'd rather it die now before we spend any more time on it. My official vote - abstain. Speaking of slow-moving PBEMs, have you resent the Team PBEM 1 save (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=4071861&postcount=446), azzaman? classical_hero May 30, 2006, 09:15 AM It looks like we need to restart. Count me out since I delayed this too often. Rik Meleet May 30, 2006, 10:17 AM It looks like we need to restart. Count me out since I delayed this too often.Just abandon your city and pass the game on. You'll be out and we can play on. fe3333au May 31, 2006, 03:40 AM That may be a good idea ... for me anyway as i am guilty of hold ups as well. Rik could you resend the save to me please ... I will disband and send it on That way those who are having difficulty can also disband and leave the game for those who can play at a swifter rate. classical_hero May 31, 2006, 09:14 AM If we are going to continue then I will play on but a restart then i will not be playing this. classical_hero Jun 12, 2006, 06:19 AM What is the status of this game? gbno1fan Jun 12, 2006, 07:36 AM I believe the game has died. Is anyone interested in setting up a new one? Maybe we can have a North American one and an Aussie one (since geographic differences seems to have been the over-riding reason for this game's failure). gbno1fan Jul 13, 2006, 09:27 AM I've spent some time the last couple days looking through the spoilers of this game to see if I could learn anything from the strategies employed by everyone (especially Chamnix and Rik). I put together a spreadsheet that summarizes everyone's builds. Just thought I'd share it with everyone for reference. 132436 classical_hero Jul 14, 2006, 09:55 AM My third city was founded on turn 16. azzaman333 Jul 21, 2006, 08:23 AM I've spent some time the last couple days looking through the spoilers of this game to see if I could learn anything from the strategies employed by everyone (especially Chamnix and Rik). I put together a spreadsheet that summarizes everyone's builds. Just thought I'd share it with everyone for reference. 132436 I'd find it interesting if you could possibly make this available. since it doesnt seem to be downloadable for me. gbno1fan Jul 21, 2006, 08:29 AM Adobe Acrobat Reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html) You need Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to view the file format. You can get it for free by following the link above. azzaman333 Jul 21, 2006, 08:32 AM I have Adobe Acrobat Reader, i just cant access it. I've tried to download/open the link with both IE and FireFox, Firefox gets a blank screen and IE (typically) crashes. gbno1fan Jul 21, 2006, 08:41 AM Hmm. That's odd. In any case, I just emailed you the raw excel file. azzaman333 Jul 21, 2006, 08:47 AM That worked. Thanks :) |
