Regardless of whether or not it is a Sirian-made map or not, we'll need to determine the map size. Since it is leaning towards a Sirian made map, then once we finish this discussion, we can have Sirian start on a map... :D

Official Game Poll

Instructions: Anyone can and should start a thread in their team forum with this discussion so they can discuss among themselves. Please discuss what kind of map size you want:
Duel
Tiny
Small
Standard
Large
Huge
Custom/Other
Please discuss which map size will work best for the Civ4 MTDG. This discussion will end no sooner than the weekend (2/18-2/19). At that time, have your UN representative come to this thread and cast their vote for their team - just write "Team X votes for Y". Majority wins.

I think it would be useful to run a game speed poll too. My game speed preference will depend on map size, and vice versa.

Will do .

is a majority conisdered more votes than any other option?

Sirian

That would be a plurality. A majority requires... a majority.

Just clarifying that this poll won't end in a decision. ;)

If they are all different then we average the results:lol:

Actually, yes, that's what I'm thinking of. If Delta votes for Standard, I'd probably go with Standard (Small + Large -> average to Standard), with maybe a bit of leeway for Sirian, since Piffle voted that way. We'll just see how it comes out...

Another option is for teams to rank their preferred three map sizes.

Since we already have four votes, and they average to Standard, why don't we commit to Standard map size?

Keep in mind, there will only be five civs in the game. (Right?) Standard is balanced for seven civs, so there will already be "extra room" and it will feel more like a Large map game than a Standard anyway.

Plus Team Piffle is destined to start on a one-tile island in the middle of the ocean with only Whales to keep them company, so that leaves even more room for the rest of you. ;)

Well since Aloha voted Standard...we would support Sirian's proposal...

If anything just to see Tubbys start position. :mischief:

Yes, please do go with Standard, or plan for it for now if you want to start designing it. There will be 5 civs only, correct. And just letting you all know, at the moment, Delta is leaning towards a Standard-sized map (not that that can't change!). Delta, feel free to cast your vote...

Hey where is our ice fortress????

I said deep in the ice. I did not specify land or sea ice. :satan:

You did want a peninsula, though, so I need to make that a five tile island instead, in the shape of a capital T, with four Peaks. Easily defensible, you said. Lots of resources, you said. Well, if only submarines that can go under the sea ice (and all those Resources swimming around out there blowing plumes of water in to the air) can reach you, then that's easily defensible! Right? :mischief:

You're going to have a Whale of a time! http://sirian.warpcore.org/smilies/fish.gif

So yes, the Map Size will be Standard, with a bit of leeway for Sirian.

Have fun Sirian! :)
