Some teams want to know the game speed before they decide on the map size.

* Quick
* Normal
* Epic
* Marathon

Lets discuss this and if we need to we can put up a poll.

MY own opinion is Epic followed by normal. I like the feel of epic and longer periods of unit viablity.

Remember with Epic you theoretically have more time for your UU. BUT..if our UU is later then we might go with normal to lessen the early UU effect on us.

Also should I put up a poll or do we want to discuss it a bit first.

discussion first is probably the best option :)

id go with epic or normal, marathon would just be TOO long :)

Question about marathon..is it like playing a whole "normal" game in each era?

yes, marathon games take forever. I would avoid that option for team mp. Although we could pick an early UU like Inca and hope we knock off a couple of teams by the thirtieth, fourtieth turn. ;)

Marathon is 1200 turns compared with like 400 something in standard

I vote epic

I would vote for standard, because you want to keep the game moving at a resonable pace or people are going to get bored, because as it is will we probably average a turn every 3 days

yes i would like to revise my vote to standard, what robi_D said reminded me of the length of time it took us to get to the posistion we are in the civ3 MTDG.

shall we poll?

I like epic. Keeps your UU around a bit longer. We want the game to drag until our UU is outdated. Standard is really quick an I never seem to get enough of a unit built before its outdated smae thing with Stonhedge. Its built then I obsolete it to quickly.

But the UU outdate will effect all teams. Our UU might become outdated quicker, but so will everyone elses. (Unless they play as India, German, or America)

True but I am hoping there is no one around by the time it outdates. ;)

Just remember that it will be around 3 days per turn (maybe a bit less early on), so for example if something takes 10 turns to build in normal speed, and takes 15 turns in epic speed, that is an extra 2 weeks in real time. One problem all teams have experience in the civ3 MTDG at one point or another is a low number of active participants, which can make things difficult. While i personally enjoy playing games at epic speed, given the amount of time it will take to get through a turn makes me think a faster speed would be wiser, otherwise a lot of people will get bored and then you will have the same low participation problems civ3 has had.

I see your point..I admit i dont have a feeling for multiplayer.

I am playing some now and I see the slowness.

completly agree, anything slower than normal time and we would struggle to maintain participation.

poll up...( in a few minutes.)
