Mr David Feb 15, 2006, 07:06 PM You're too good for Monarch! Aren't you playing in an AWDG? :crazyeye: Anyways, good luck.
madviking Feb 15, 2006, 07:10 PM Yeah, that where the AWM comes in. :D
(AWDG is just a "you're in this game no matter what" kind of game. ;))
TimBentley Feb 15, 2006, 07:27 PM I'll join.
gozpel Feb 15, 2006, 07:45 PM I need to practice AW, so sign me up, I don't care about levels. I want to understand the priorities in AW as my gameplay is a bit wacky sometimes. :)
madviking Feb 15, 2006, 07:50 PM welcome Goz and Tim :)
Ansar Feb 15, 2006, 08:08 PM Sign me up. :)
gozpel Feb 15, 2006, 08:40 PM Is this a standard map, with 7 rivals?
I was going to suggest rolling new starts as well, just to get a river at least. But the posted start have a food bonus, so it seems good enough.
And maybe I could ask if I could start this game or is that too greedy? I'm just a sucker for the first 20 turns. :hammer2:
gozpel Feb 15, 2006, 09:45 PM Btw, can we buy/exchange techs on the same turn as we meet someone? The rules are different here and there. Of course no gpt-deals included, but to trade BW for WC should be ok? And then declare.
And madviking, if we happen to win this one, would you consider another game on Emperor? :) Hopefully with the same team.
Yes, I know. I ramble a lot when I drink my beers. :rolleyes: But I prefer that than to watch Oprah or Home and Away...
azzaman333 Feb 15, 2006, 10:59 PM I'll play :)
gozpel Feb 16, 2006, 12:29 AM Let go of that new GOTM and place a roster! :lol:
We have a team!
Ansar Feb 16, 2006, 06:11 AM I was going to suggest rolling new starts as well, just to get a river at least. But the posted start have a food bonus, so it seems good enough.
Yes, but what map size, if we knew, we could try rolling some starts to compare. :)
madviking Feb 16, 2006, 07:33 AM WElcome everyone! :)
I'm generating some starts now.
madviking Feb 16, 2006, 10:15 AM Meh... none of them were all that good.
0- Found Trondy on spot, start warrior, max on masonry, worker to wheat, find more wheat! :)
1- worker irrigates
5- warrior -> warrior, worker roads
8- worker to sugar, see gems to the west
9- meet Incas, up Masonry and Pottery, down WC and Alpha, declare war, worker mines sugar
10- Trondy expands, warrior -> warrior
14- warrior -> archer
15- worker roads sugar
18- masonry -> writing
The incas are coming from the SW. Watch out for the Chausqui Scouts, they can move double in hills/mounts.

Smart Feb 16, 2006, 10:22 AM AWDG is just a "you're in this game no matter what" kind of game. ;)
:hmm:
It's pity, that I've joined to CFC when all good players went to C4 section... Monarch-emperor are very popular now, I think I will abandon that AWDG SG :(
madviking Feb 16, 2006, 10:28 AM Yeah, only 10 people visit this place daily. Time for a back to Civ3 Movement! :lol:
The real reason I'm here is because my Civ4 bloke. And now I got this left... :whoosh:
And I think Civ3 is still funner than Civ4. ;)

gozpel Feb 19, 2006, 02:36 PM You sure we want to research Writing before BW? Are we going to sue them?
I got it.
gozpel Feb 19, 2006, 03:50 PM Pre-turn - Switch research to BW, we need spears before anything else. Move out 2 warriors to intercept the 2 incan warriors, add the archer to the stack.
ibt - Incan warrior kills one of our warriors, the second dies.
2950BC - Kill the remaining warrior with archer.
2750BC - Trondheim settler -> barracks.
2710BC - Bergen founded -> barracks. Worker will chop forest to speed it up.
2590BC - We learn BW -> Wheel in 11 turns. We need to know where the resources are, so we should look for iron after horses.
2 Inca warriors approach.
2550BC - Trondheim barracks -> spear.
Archer 1/3 manage to kill warrior.
Our warrior kills the other and promotes 2/4.
Barracks in Bergen will finish next turn, due to the chop. A couple of units from both towns would be great, then a worker before we build another settler.
Defense point is where the hurt archer stands.

madviking Feb 19, 2006, 04:02 PM Me- in the hole
Tim- AWOL
Goz- just played
Ansar- UP
Azzaman- on deck
Ansar Feb 19, 2006, 04:38 PM So...settle on hill SE of the damaged archer? :)
EDIT: Got it. :D
madviking Feb 19, 2006, 04:40 PM I think S, beacause of the hill bonus, a town on flatland has a 0% defense bonus, but a town on hills has a 50% bonus, that plus walls.
Ansar Feb 19, 2006, 05:02 PM Preturn-Press Enter, see that the units are weak, they must heal.
ibt- Barracks finish. :)
2510-Bergen starts a worker. fortify archer and warrior, need to get their health back to normal.
2470- Drop science to 80%, so +1 gpt, and wheel in 9 turns.
2930- Move archer and warrior south. Find grasslands with some hills.
2350- Worker finished in Bergen, start unit construction. Trondheim finished spearman, build settler.
2310- Archer and warrior find Incan border, it seems the Incas have freshwater , but are in tundra.

madviking Feb 20, 2006, 07:53 AM It looks like a good place.
azzaman333 Feb 21, 2006, 12:09 AM 2270 BC - Settler and spear move out from incan lands, archer and vet warrior are hoping for them to make vulnerable moving onto flatlands.
2230 BC - Warrior and archer lose to grassland spear without causing any damage.
2190 BC - Workers move just outside of borders to road hill next turn.
IBT - Tiwanaku built. :eek: That means the inca only just built their first city!!!
2150 - Boring turn.
2110 BC - Wheel learnt, and Tiwanku has some pretty ponies. :grr: Not for long... hehehe... Research started on Iron Working, get it in 18 turns.
IBT - Pachacuti wants peace and the wheel, i tell him to go play the the fishys and shaks.
2070 BC - Settler built, start spear.
2030 BC - Bergen builds spear, starts archer. Workers prepare to chop walls.
1990 BC - Start the chops
1950 BC - Copenhagen built. Starts walls.
1910 BC - Walls built in Copenhagen, start a rax. Move workers so they can chop more forests.

Ansar Feb 28, 2006, 06:58 PM I was thinking, isnt it time to start making horsemen? The traveling is getting quite long for our slow archers, and for only...10 shields more?
I did some math and 3 archers is the equivalent to 2 horsemen.
What do you guys think? Also, should I have kept Cuzco?
madviking Feb 28, 2006, 07:03 PM Awesome! :thumbsup:
Azzaman is UP
I think its time to research Maps to make some floatys and sail around with our zerks and win. :devil:
Horses will get bogged down in the unforgiving conditions of The Huge Jungle.
Ansar Feb 28, 2006, 07:24 PM U r right, also, I forgot about Zerks. :scan:
Their awesome marine powers will come in handy. :evil:
Ansar Feb 28, 2006, 07:28 PM Whoops, sorry Azzaman, I forgot the save. :crazyeye:
azzaman333 Feb 28, 2006, 11:20 PM got it
gozpel Mar 01, 2006, 03:47 AM Horses are more valuable than swords, at least in my games. For every sword I build at least 3 horses, probably closer to 1:5.
Cuzco can be replaced later, let it build a couple of workers until we have some city-planning.
Well done Ansar! :)
We also need some dingies out to entice the rest of the world.
soul_warrior Mar 01, 2006, 09:25 AM looking good mates. keep up the :devil: work :D
azzaman333 Mar 01, 2006, 11:18 PM I'm busy today, if someone can play in the next 24 hours, i'll swap.
Ansar Mar 02, 2006, 07:20 PM :bump:MadV?
Whomp Mar 02, 2006, 09:36 PM You sure we want to research Writing before BW? Are we going to sue them?
I got it.
Hah. MadV let me know if you're taking lurker turns.
gozpel Mar 02, 2006, 11:40 PM MadV is probably under scrutiny for egging his neighbours house or skipping duties at home. Instead he played CIV and got penalised for something he never would do.
Losing the boss of the game is quite difficult, so I take on that role for now. MadV can tell me to go to hell afterwards.
New player and UP: Gen'ral Whomp
TimBentley Mar 03, 2006, 09:41 AM I'll be gone until the 12th, so skip me until then.
It doesn't look like we need more walls.
Whomp Mar 03, 2006, 10:40 AM OK I played 3 turns last night and stopped in case you guys didn't want lurker turns and more importantly because I spawned a SGL. I've never played a game with SGL's on. :lol:
Pyramids or GLib?
My thinking is pyramids would be enormous alone on a island but I realize Glib is pretty typical for a AW game. What say you? Please advise.
PS Tim I changed all the walls. They're make cats and workers instead.
Ansar Mar 03, 2006, 11:45 AM Great Library sounds good.:D
soul_warrior Mar 03, 2006, 03:42 PM GLib is ubercool.
but what can we, mere mortals, have to say, when the grand vesier, the major-general, the whomper and chomper of alien AI, wants a pyramid to celebrate his skill.
i would take a pointy house anyday of the week.
Whomp Mar 03, 2006, 04:02 PM SW I've missed ya brah.
OK well we have time to discuss this topic since we don't have lit yet. I will report back in a little bit.
Ansar Mar 03, 2006, 06:16 PM Well, if we want the culture, i guess the pointy house, since we got nothing the SGL to use on, or do we want to save the SGL?:p
Whomp Mar 03, 2006, 07:38 PM Well I held off doing anything with the SGL so we can decide what to use him on. The benefit of the pyramids is growth is power and with it we could likely outresearch all of them. The Glib will allow us to cash rush and potentially not have to research a government. I set research on philo since it looks like non one has it so if we could find myst amongst the remaining 3 civs it would be huge. If not we can research lit.
Here's the story....
Pre-turn: Change some walls to rax for cat prebuilds and Trondy changes to a curragh and will finish in time.
IT Trondy curragh --> horse
975
Our two elites win and...
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/7744/raze13hc.jpg
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6096/ottos27lt.jpg
He gets all whiny about the deal so I declare.
IT Stockholm worker --> rax
950
Turn down science to 70% with maths next. Start a chop for a curragh near Oslo.
IT maths comes in and...:eek:
http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/3007/scientific37yo.jpg
925 Put research on writing since we need lit for Glib, map making for invasions. Research at 90% with writing in 9 at -2gpt.
Heal till the IT after 875
IT chop finishes near Oslo and curragh comes in. Oslo to worker
Trondy horse --> settler
850 Nada
IT Liz runs by. Bergen horse --> settler
825
Make this deal with Liz.
http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/8381/liztrade41mu.jpg
I don't like how snooty she is so I declare. Start the move on Machu Pichu.
IT reg archer attacks and loses to our elite archer
800 Lose a vet but get two elite wins and...
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/2421/machupichu8mz.jpg
Cool there's some silks and the Ottos have ivory that's spittin' distance from Trondy. Two luxs are hooked up. Decide to send one slave to make a colony on the tundra and the other outside the border that won't be used to chop for a cat.
IT Get the palace started. A few wonder messages.
775
Hey Theo...wud up?
http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/2774/theodora3ee.jpg
Ask her out. She shuts me down so I declare.
I set research to philo since no one else seems to have researched it and she has map making. I figure we can try to sling to lit or if someone has poly we can try and sling to monarchy. It might be worth the risk, we'll see. Establish a colony on the silks and our people are mucho happy-o.
IT Reyjavik rax --> horse
750 Nada
Summary
Though I think we can do a lot of damage with the pyramids under control it might be better to turn off research and get the GLib. I'm torn so it's worth the discussion. Things are looking good and 3 more civs to be met.
Ansar Mar 04, 2006, 07:28 AM Very nice Whomp!:clap:
Lets rush pyramids, and save the other one for Great Library.:)
madviking Mar 05, 2006, 05:12 PM :bump:

gmaharriet Mar 06, 2006, 06:08 PM goz lives in Australia, its tuesday there already.;)
Yep, depending on which part of Aus he's in, 8pm here would be between 5 and 8am there...just a wee bit early. That's based on PST. If you're farther east, it would be even earlier.
madviking Mar 06, 2006, 06:08 PM When I played it, I was morning in Australia. :p
gozpel Mar 07, 2006, 03:11 AM The morning before or after, madv? We are like 10hrs after Europe and some 20 hrs after US. I was online yestie, but was cut off and couldn't post. Damn outback servers. :) Rosters also helps when it comes to turnsets, missed that Tim was away. :rolleyes:

Ansar Mar 07, 2006, 06:31 AM England starts MoM and Ottomans SoZ.
We gotta stop the Ottomans. I'll play today or tomorrow.:)
Whomp Mar 07, 2006, 09:13 AM Ansar the ivory is literally either a one or two stop move with galleys. It's a tundra town that can be taken with relative ease.
Ansar Mar 07, 2006, 07:20 PM Please skip me.:( I just got swamped with homework.:sad:

Notes: the library in Trondheim should probably be switched to a market
infrastructure elsewhere would be good
there's a couple dromons on our coast: no signs of hostility from them
I just thought how barbs can be helpful: giving a general idea of technological progress of unmet civs (the thoughts that led up to that aren't really helpful, or perhaps are implied by what I said)
Screenshots of the jungle the dying curragh saw and our land attached.
gozpel Mar 16, 2006, 01:19 AM Right, I've got it.
More workers and infra sounds good.
gozpel Mar 16, 2006, 05:15 PM Pre-turn: All is good.

Stavanger worker -> horse
Odense worker -> worker
Galley find green borders to the west.
250AD - We say hello to the Celts and declare war on them.
Sink an English galley just for fun.
We have to play with the science slider quite a bit, atm we have 14 turns to Feudalism, but that's with deficit.

Ansar Mar 16, 2006, 06:25 PM Interesting, so what are my priorities?:cool:
Ansar Mar 16, 2006, 08:02 PM preturn-press enter
ibt- Byzantine dromon moves around, Celtic units are seen moving from city to city.
260 AD-lower science so we are not at negative GPT. Drop science to 40% and what a difference it made.+14 GPT and Feudalism in 21. Keep exploring Celt lands.
ibt-Babylonian galley shows up, declare war on Hammy.
270 AD-Stockholm aqueduct ->horseman.England completes Great wall in york. Oslo archer -> archer.
280 AD- Notice Dromons want to land near pre-incan terrioty, move 2 archers to the area. Galley explores more celtic land.
290 AD- Load 2 horseman on a bergen galley , they are headed for the babylonian colony island.
300 AD-Byzantines landed an archer and warrior near Molde and Alesund.:eek:Attack archer with horseman.Luckily kill it.
310 AD-Alesund was captured by Byz. But retaken, had an archer right outside the city.;)Also, archer is promoted to elite. switch Trondheim to swordsman.Move workers around.
320 AD-Byzantine drops a warrior.:lol: Kill it with the elite archer.Move boats around.
330 AD-Trondheim swordsman -> galley. It seems that the Ottomans know the secrets of how to use catapults.Land the 2 horseman in the babylonian island.
340 AD-Eulbar is auto-razed, it would have helped it we could have kept it.:(
350 AD-Oslo archer-> archer.
azzaman333 Mar 16, 2006, 10:36 PM Got it.
Ansar Mar 17, 2006, 07:47 AM OH yeah, forgot to mention, we got Engineering and The Republic from the Great Library, I guess I should have switched to Invention.:blush:

TimBentley Mar 26, 2006, 11:32 PM 350(0): Hmm...MapStat isn't on the start menu, I must be playing minesweeper too much.
Clearly Byzantines got engineering as free tech and sold it to England, but how long until both get feudalism?
It would take ~14 turns for invention at 100%, during which time we'd lose ~546g, so I'll set science to 0% for now and consider it later
looks like room for two cities on our landmass and two more (more if we raze Nippur instead of capture) on the northern island
some random MM, build changes
IBT: Trondheim galley->archer
Stockholm horse->market
Vadso worker->worker
Reykjavik galley->aqueduct
360(1): galley kills dromon
IBT: Tromso galley->galley

IBT: England drops off warrior
Cuzco settler->settler

IBT: Trondheim horse->horse
Odense worker->trebuchet
Molde galley->trebuchet
Farsund worker->worker
410(6): found Karistad
Grr...could get feudalism with 0g waste, but I'm pretty sure dromon would mess it up, so I'll have to waste 5g (or 4)
IBT: England drops off AC, horse
learn feudalism, start on invention (currently 12 turns)
Aarhus galley->worker
420(7): lose archer, horse kills AC, elite archer retreats horse, horse finishes it off
Babylon and India share landmass

440(9): zzz
IBT: England drops off archer, warrior
Bergen library->market
Aarhus worker->archer
Vadso worker->worker
450(10): horse, elite archer kill invaders
Notes: get Trondheim to 15spt (mine 4 tiles, you may want to build a worker after a couple of units) (edit: harbor and temple would work)
I was hoping to capture Nippur rather than autoraze it
gozpel Mar 29, 2006, 06:17 AM I feel like I just played, but I found a roster...
Guess I got it, not feeling too enthralled though, due to no leader.
Btw, nice job Tim, you got stuck without a warplan. I think up one.
gozpel Mar 29, 2006, 05:40 PM I can't play until tomorrow, so if anyone wants to swap...?
Ansar Mar 29, 2006, 05:44 PM Im swamped with school, take your time.:ack:
gozpel Mar 31, 2006, 04:58 PM Pre=turn - Swap a couple of cities to harbors.
Use some scientists in small towns to speed up research. It goes from 17 turns to 10.
460AD - England starts Sun Tzu and drop off an AC near Hareid, elite archer kills it.
470AD - Trondheim build a harbor -> archer.
480AD - Birka builds harbor -> aqueduct, join 2 workers into the city.
490AD - England have an issue with Hareid, as they drop off an AC and a horse.
Copenhagen aqueduct -> market.
Stockholm market -> harbor.
Lose a horse against AC, another horse kills it.
Horse kills horse and promotes to elite.
500AD - England drops off yet another horse, elite archer kills it.
510AD - Get bored and raze Nippur, it won't grow for a long time anyways.
MM every city to the last coin, Invention in 4 turns.
520AD - Not much.
530AD - Stockholm harbor -> library.
540AD - Byz wants to talk, that won't happen. Then half a dozen dromons shows up, they sink one of our galleys. They start Sun Tzu as well.
550AD - We learn Invention, turn off research so we can gather some gold.
Bergen market -> aqueduct.
Next player, watch out for those dromons south, there are a couple on the other side too, plus a pair of english galleys. Beware of landings. :)
Change builds to whatever you seem fit.
Golden age wouldn't hurt us at this stage, so start prepping for war overseas. We need more galleys on the east side, so we can ship units quickly.
TimBentley Apr 01, 2006, 10:38 AM Excellent, now our upcoming berserks can go berserk on the other island.
gozpel Apr 02, 2006, 05:01 AM I just thought of something funny. We have berserkers (soon), who can attack towns from galleys. Then the tricky part comes when we're surrounded by dromons and have to get to one of those towns.
And if we pull that off and take an Ottoman town or two, Lizzy sits on the island waiting with her AC's. :lol:
This will be interesting.

I got a new job and can play only over the weekends.
When I wake up tomorrow, I'll continue with another 10 turns. That is, if no one claimed it. already.
gozpel Apr 16, 2006, 08:04 AM Oh well, that was a quick remark after a few beers.
I didn't get the chance to play and seriously, this ain't a one-man roster. I played last, so now someone make a dent.
TimBentley Apr 17, 2006, 08:11 PM If I must, I could play tomorrow, although any of the other three would be preferable. Interestingly, gozpel and I have played 4 of the last 5 rounds.
TimBentley Apr 18, 2006, 09:06 PM Got it. Playing now.
TimBentley Apr 18, 2006, 10:07 PM 550(0): an extra food in Cuzco, an extra gold in Hareid, an extra shield in Odense
560(1): zzz
IBT: Byzantines drop off archer

570(2): kill the archer
IBT: Babylon drops off two swordsmen
580(3): more killing
upgrade an archer
IBT: Birka aqueduct->berserk
590(4): zzz
IBT: Odense treb->treb
600(5): another berserk
IBT: Trondheim berserk->berserk
those dromons are annoying
Copenhagen market->berserk
Alesund treb->treb
610(6): lose a galley, kill a dromon
IBT: Byzantines drop off spear, archer, warrior
England drops off two horses
620(7): somehow the warrior and archer each manage to kill a horse
another upgrade
IBT: Cuzco horse->horse
630(8): kill a spear to get two Babylonian slaves on the northern island (wow, our first slaves)
640(9): another upgrade
IBT: Bergen aqueduct->berserk
Stockholm library->berserk
650(10): zzz
Notes: Next player should start invasion (Trondheim currently has 5 berserks and 7 galleys
An (or a couple) empty veteran galley to accompany regular full galleys would be nice so dromons can't kill berserks
More berserk-producing cities looks desirable
I hope Ansar, azzaman, or madviking plays before gozpel; he's already in one more two-man roster than he would like
Ansar Apr 19, 2006, 06:00 AM For our next target, Edrine or Coventry? It shows Edirne doesent have a harbor, but Conventry does...
:)
Ansar Apr 20, 2006, 05:12 PM preturn- load berserkers into galleys, they are headed towards Edrine.
ibt- England drops off 2 AC's.
660 AD- Oslo library -> Medieval Infantry. Hareid galley -> horseman. Cat bombards AC and lose 3 horsemen against the AC's but manage to kill them. Berserker attacks and GA begins. Berserks take Edrine and promotes to elite.
ibt- England drops off an AC at Edrine, Osman approaches with 2 archers, 2 spears, and 1 chariots.
670 AD- Berserks promotes to elite, and jungles are almost completely gone.
ibt- Babylon drops off a settler bowman pair in the bab colony island.
680- Units are healed, so I abandon Edrine, now units are heading towards Iznik. Kill bab settler pair.
ibt- Celts ask for peace, I tell them to take a hike.
690- Aarhus berserk-> berserk. Molde trebuchet -> horseman. And another galley with berserks head off with our berserk invasion.
ibt- England drops off an AC down in the silky tundra land.
700 AD- Cuzco horseman -> horseman. Bergen berserk-> berserk. Oslo MI -> berserk. Birka market-> berserk. Stavenger berserk->berserk. Odense treb -> treb. Karasjok treb ->galley. both AC and horseman are dead. Also, Iznik is ours. But it will probably be razed next turn.
Summary for these 5 turns: Berserks are fun.:) What should be my next target, Coventry or Hastings? :cool:

TimBentley Apr 20, 2006, 07:38 PM Hastings has SoZ IIRC, so that would be nice.
gozpel Apr 21, 2006, 06:23 AM Interestingly, gozpel and I have played 4 of the last 5 rounds.
it turned out to be 5/6, sorry Tim, I should've acknowledged you. :banana:
Well, can we get this rickety ship running again, we have a a difficult task in front of us.
And yes, I can only play over weekends from now on, so if someone handlily slips a save during that time...I'll get it. :)
azzaman333 Apr 21, 2006, 06:36 AM I might be able to play the save now...
EDIT: Last few weeks have been a pain in the ass because of homework. Sorry i couldnt play.
Ansar Apr 21, 2006, 04:15 PM Hastings has SoZ IIRC, so that would be nice.
IIRC, SoZ only works if you have control of at least one ivory resource, which we dont because I abandoned Edrine, but razing Hastings will help us the most, getting rid of those pesky AC's will be a godsend.:religion: :)
vmxa Apr 21, 2006, 06:49 PM Yes without Ivory, it will not make any units.
TimBentley Apr 24, 2006, 10:13 AM :bump: Madviking? Or azzaman, if he's less busy yet. Or actually Ansar could do 5 more to finish up 10.
By turning on research we could get military tradition in about 33 turns. (I was thinking we could still capture Hastings and settle a city to get the ivory, but it's not worth it with metallurgy in about 24 turns.) On that note consider building some settlers to move over.
Inter-AI wars are always nice; Bombay is Babylonian.
I found there wasn't an adequate picture to discuss the war, and this is better than nothing.
Ansar Apr 24, 2006, 06:25 PM I was thinking of settling on the neutral ivory tile, so Ivory cant get pillaged. And then rush a harbor in that city, of course, we would bring pikes. and a treb or two.:hammers:
If nobody picks it up by tomorrow, I will play the 5 turns.:)
TimBentley Apr 28, 2006, 05:59 PM I guess gozpel can play it over the weekend; I'll pick it up after him.
gozpel Apr 29, 2006, 04:29 PM Ok, I try to play a few..
Ansar Apr 29, 2006, 06:25 PM 5 turns sound good? Or should it be 10?
gozpel Apr 29, 2006, 08:31 PM Pre-turn: Sort out some MM-issues and swap a few builds to horses. I'll try to build some more trebs as well later.
Send 3 galleys over with reinforcement.
710AD - AC kills one of our zerks in Iznik.
We have a safe route between Iznik and Stockholm, I decide to keep the town. Kill AC and a couple of Osman troops.
Disband 2 galleys to get walls in Iznik.
720AD - 2 stacks of ottomans visit Iznik, kill 13 of them without losses. 3 promotions to elites.
Start joining workers into towns to get rid of some of our unit-support.
730AD - Defend against 2 osmans ibt.
Learn Monotheism from the GLib.
India wants to talk, won't happen.
Kill off English and Byz archers. We now have 18 units and 4 stoneslingers in Iznik.
Disband another pair of galleys in Iznik and rush library. Could've rushed temple cheaper, but the town is pretty uncorrupted and might be useful if we start researching again. But we want border-expansion anyways.
740AD - Kill 4 english, lose a horse.
750AD - A dromon block our shipping route, ping it and sink it with a galley.
Kill 2 Byz archers.
Max research on Gunpowder - due in 5turns, I want to know where the saltpeter is.
760AD - Quiet. Start to set up attack on Istanbul, that will happen in 2 turns.
770AD - Nothing.
780AD - England and Ottomans wants to talk, no time to sit around and chat.
Assault on Istanbul: Our trebs go 9/11 and there are 6 spears in the city, good I brought 18 units then.
4 clean elite wins and:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/turkleader.jpg
No losses:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/istanbul.jpg
We have a zerk-army. :)
Bursa is next on the list.
790AD - Only 4 spears in Bursa:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/bursa.jpg
Well, we're on a roll now:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/leader2.jpg
Another zerk-army.
800AD - We learn Gunpowder, full steam on Chemistry for now. We have 2 sources of saltpeter btw.
Good luck Tim, I think we start to have sufficient troops in the warzone. :) A bunch are going for Coventry and then we'll get the ivory too. The armies can try to take Hastings?
Our new lands:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/newlands.jpg
Ansar Apr 30, 2006, 08:04 AM Great job, goz!:thumbsup: :dance: :cooool:
2 armies![party] Now we can really get the party started.:D
-------------
I had an idea of a dotmap for a couple of cities...
TimBentley Apr 30, 2006, 08:30 AM I was hoping we'd get a leader or two. Got it.
TimBentley Apr 30, 2006, 05:06 PM 800(0): minor MM
810(1): kill a pike in Hastings
IBT: lose 2 galleys
820(2): kill 4 pikes to capture Hastings, SoZ
kill 2 pikes to capture Coventry
830(3): it takes 3 galleys to kill a 2hp English galley
840(4): get MGL killing 2 pikes to capture Dover, ivory
fire scientists in Trondheim, Stockholm
IBT: Start Heroic Epic in Bergen
our first AC
850(5): and our first AC dies attacking a MDI
kill a pike in London
IBT: learn chemistry, start on metallurgy
860(6): Golden age ends
kill 3 pikes in London
kill 3 spears to capture Uskudar, destroy Ottomans
870(7): kill 3 pikes in London
troops are next to Nottingham
880(8): kill pike in Nottingham
kill 2 pikes to capture London, ToA
890(9): kill 2 pikes in Nottingham
900(10): we'll get chivalry next turn
kill pike to capture Nottingham, MoM
found Hammerfest
Notes: Unit costs are significant (there may be a couple more cities you want to switch to settlers)
There's many troops in Nottingham and Bursa (troops in Bursa should head off to the Byzantines now, the horses in Nottingham could be healed as they're given better weapons and armor next turn)
Hopefully the AI will research theology and education now (although we're currently destroying the leaders among the AI, so I wouldn't be surprised if we had to research those ourselves).
We don't need any more armies to finish off England and Byzantines, so the next leader probably should rush the FP or be saved for a cav army
Ansar would be up unless madviking or azzaman say otherwise.
An interesting economy question is how many horses to upgrade to knights, since we want military tradition for much cheaper knight-to-cav upgrades (and metallurgy on the way for cannons, but obsoleting SoZ).
madviking May 02, 2006, 05:20 PM I can play now
TimBentley May 06, 2006, 12:12 AM :bump: I'll be out for about a week.
Ansar May 06, 2006, 07:10 AM :wavey: Come back soon! :p
MadV- you're up!
madviking May 16, 2006, 08:41 PM 0- good
IBT: get Chivalry from TGL
1- Erik Bloodaxe emerges, he goes to hammerfest to rush pentagon, killed two longbows (2-0), started Templar
http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=127017&d=1147830077
IBT- babs drop a lone sword near Inca
2- killed sword (3-0)
IBT: lots of border expansions
3- kill spear with archer (4-0) killed 3 pikes and a longbow at York, captured it (9-0), killed two spears at Adrinople (11-0)
IBT: nothing much
4- troop moveing
IBT: Nottingham flips :o
5- capture back Nottingham, killing lone pike (12-0), destroy it, found Flip This on top of it, kill two pikes at Canturbury
Stopped at turn 210

Bursa is completely corrupt, so why is it working the mountain? Switch it to a grassland.
Same with Hammerfest, switch to grassland.
Starve London because of English citizens. Citizens become taxmen and gpt raises to +95 gpt.
Same with York. gpt goes up to +101 gpt.
Horseman kills a Babylonian spearman.
IBT - Babylonian sword captures Molde. Dromons have fun bombarding units, no deaths.
1. 960 AD
Adrianople riots. Starve it. Reykjavik knight -> courthouse. Uskudar worker -> worker.
the siege of Canterbury
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/MadV9_01.JPG
3 resistors? no problem, change to taxmen.:D
Recapture Molde. Fill a galley with berserk + knight.
IBT- Resistance in Canterbury stops. England is building Sun Tzu's!:devil:
2. 970 AD
Tromso galley -> galley.
Nicaea is ours
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/MadV9_02.JPG
and so is Caesarea
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/MadV9_03.JPG
IBT-Lots of WLTKD.:dance:
3. 980 AD
Change people to taxmen. gpt climbs to +140 gpt.:coffee:
Copenhagen berserk -> berserk.
IBT- Our galley beats an English galley. But our galley loses to a Dromon. Babylon drops off 2 swords.
4. 990 AD
Kill one bab sword. Move units around..
IBT- Babylonians capture Alesund.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/MadV9_04.JPG
5. 1000 AD
Iznik knight -> knight. Oslo knight -> aqueduct. Stockholm galley -> galley. Fauske riots.
Alesund is recaptured and horse gets promoted to elite. Rushed 2 settlers.
Next Better Player: I got to have some fun, but you get some fun too. Constantinople is all yours to keep, and if you didnt read the turnlog, well, I rushed 2 settlers, but why? Well, we need a little more unit support, and that seemed to be the easiest way.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/MadV9_05.JPG http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/MadV9_06.JPG
And the siege of Constantinople for the next player:

Ansar May 28, 2006, 09:03 AM And the save...:p
Get your Viking Souveneirs Here! (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/MadV9_1000AD.SAV)
EDIT/WARNING:Next player should also start advancing into the island north of U.K., and remove England from this world. Watch out for Theo's Dromons, they are being quite a pain, so try to keep galleys from town to town when moving them.
