According to the usual schedule, the Hall of Fame was to be updated today. However, we're having some technical difficulties associated with the overall CFC server switch. The HOF website appears to be largely functional, but not entirely so far, so we're waiting on the update until we're sure.

Would there be an update today? Is it still on schedule for the 25th of each month? Thanks!

We're no longer having technical difficulties, so any delay in the update will be all due to us humans. We've been pretty reliable recently...

Are you saying that there will be an update today? Although I like a simple answer of yes or no, if I have to, I'm sure I will be able to decode your message.;)

We have every intention of keeping to our usual schedule (yes/no answers are so boring :mischief: )

I see. So mathematically, "every intention" can be translated into about 99.9% chance that you will be on schedule. That's about the same probability for a spearman to not kill a tank.

I still say there is a better chance than that that a spearman could kill a tank. I mean all he has to do is be able to throw his spear through the little window opening in the front of the tank and take out the driver or gunner.

I drove tanks in the army, and there isn't a window. It's similar to a periscope, using mirrors to drive.

How would you figure your odds against a pikeman? Say he was a really GOOD pikeman. With the mad skillz.

What if the pikeman pushed his spear into the canon of the tank? Surely that would stop the tank from firing.

Well, I'd say this thread has been decidedly jacked, but we're still on a Civilization related topic for the moment....

Very interesting. Is there any way a guy with a spear could stop a tank? Maybe open the hatch and stab people in the top of the head?

Mind you I'm not asking about anything actually probable, just possible. ;)

My apologies, that was not my intention. But, since we’re on the subject (and have gained a mods’ interest)…

Depends on the round. If a sabot was fired the spear/pike wouldn’t do a thing but melt, the same as the pikemen. A heat round I’m not sure about. It’d probably be the same as putting something in the barrel of any firearm. Note though, that the pikemen is toast no matter what.

The hatches are locked from the inside, so no, he couldn’t open the hatch. Is there a way for a spear/pikemen to take out a tank? Anything is possible, so I don’t see why not. Anyone with the determination and foresight could possibly do it. But could he survive his success? Probably not.

I’m recalling all those classes we went through on possible foreign spies seeking confidential information. :hmm:

No need to apologize, this was actually more of a natural drift off-topic than an actual threadjack. No one's in trouble. :)

 Point taken. Guess that ends that.

. Apparently every year in Australia more people die from vending machines falling on them than are killed by crocodiles. (According to the crocodile keeper at Cairns zoo).
