View Full Version : Next Level Mod II near of completation - FINAL BUGS, HELP!
CivArmy s. 1994 Feb 26, 2006, 02:16 PM Hi! :)
I've found these errors and I don't know how to fix. It is Carnival break in Brazil, so, I finally have time to finish the Next Level Mod II :D
this message appears three times when the mod starts and I already checked any unit class of any new UU
the error is one "unitinfo" file

the icons appear obfuscate and any icons appear smaller then they suppose to be. I checked the sizes and they r right on artwork folders.
the UU and leaderhead icons r smaller

the UU icon is strange

the right icons r strange

and off course, the white flag problem... no screen shot, cos the flags appear here and desappear on other Civ4 players.
here is the XML files, not completed, but almost ready: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads11/NLMxml.zip
anyone knows how to solve these problems??? :D
Haarbal Feb 26, 2006, 02:36 PM the white flag problem has to do with the alpha masks. if you get yourself a FREE version of DXTBmp, you can edit this really good and easy. the idea is that you create a black/white alpha mask and the game fills the black area up with the civs secundary (or primary, not sure)colour. the white area in the alpha mask will be filled with your original image. you also MUST have the whiteflag tag on 1, not 0
Shqype Feb 26, 2006, 02:41 PM That is only for decal flags, if you have a flag with more than 2 colors, and/or you don't want the primary and secondary colors to have any influence on the image, then you take the flag image (128x128) and use DXTBmp to import the Alpha Channel. Included in this post is the Alpha Channel you will need. Right-click and Save As to save this onto your computer.
I imported this from a flag that LAnkou created for me.
Civmansam Feb 26, 2006, 03:50 PM For the small icons you have to merge all layers of all the buttons.
For Unit Infos info class incorrect you have to make sure items that should be marked "NONE" Are not marked by </blah>
CivArmy s. 1994 Feb 26, 2006, 04:01 PM I'll check the tips friends, thanks! I expect they work and finally I can release the mod.
BTW, this is a new unit for Civ4 called Embraer Tucano. On NLM as soon as possible :D (and many others too!)

J_Period Feb 27, 2006, 06:38 PM the Tag: (blank) error is caused if you have a tag that is <whatever/> that sould be <whatever>NONE</whatever> (at least that's when I get it)
CivArmy s. 1994 Feb 28, 2006, 12:17 PM The error message was fixed and I want to fix the white flag problem before release the mod new version, there is just this left :)
I tried the DXTBmp software, loaded my flag, imported the black mask, refreshed it, saved as DDS DTX3 type file and what happened: the flag is white to me now  BTW, I erased the file NextLevelMod\Assets\XML\Interface\CIV4PlayerColorI nfos.xml .
so, anyone knows how to solve this? I want upload this mod today :D
two examples what I did, flags of Abyssinia and Argentina
spincrus Feb 28, 2006, 12:25 PM CivArmy, as a tribute to your hard work, among the first things I'll start working on in my Civ4 Flags as Leaderheads project (following the release of the SDK) will be the flags of Brazil and Sao Paulo

thanks man! :D
BenGee171 Mar 02, 2006, 11:39 AM XML seems to be correct. try to upload the mod, if the users will still have this problem with the withe flags you can easily try to make a bugfix. but i dont know why it isn't working on your computer. i realy dont know.
btw: the structure of your xml files is not realy friendly to other users.
next time try to set new units at the end of the list, also new civilizations and leaders, and you could make an seperate .xml textfile for every civilization with their leader and unique unit their civilopedie and their dimplomatic text. that would be better structurated for some one who want implantate something or change someting for his own use in homework.
btw: i realy like your leaderheads. ok some of them are looking strange but ich think they fit in the game also between the animated of the orginal programm.
i waited so long for the release of nlmII that i downloaded two days befor some of the new civilizations to implantade them by myself :) now i will wait till you had done it. if it won't take too long.
the new unit of brazil will it have its owen 3d model? do you have the knowledge to implantade and disigne new 3d models? with their animations and shadows and all that stuff?
so, thats all
nice work go on...

I've learnt how 3ds Studio Max works and I've tried to export these models that I did on the game using ever done shadows and animations.
BTW, the other questions about the white flag problem I answered on the other NLM thread (inside the "new civilizations" forum) :) I'm exciting to fix it and finally release the mod :D
