View Full Version : White Flags
Paasky Feb 27, 2006, 03:39 PM This is strange... I keep getting white banners (lookk at the white flags.jpg attached)
I've got the alpha channel as black, whiteflag=1, but still they're white. For some reason, even BadRonalds flagpackdoes the same thing (I tested to see if those work, but the same white flag...) even though flagwhite=1.
Perhaps its because my graphic (and every other setting) is as low as possible?
I've added the .dds files, the artdefine_civilizations & civilizationinfos used into the .zip, also attached.
If you want to test these with the edits that I have done, download the WWII EU current ( http://koti.mbnet.fi/pjvuorio/wwii_eu4current.rar ) & load it, either the scenario or a custom game.
What on earth is wrong???
Haarbal Feb 27, 2006, 05:26 PM you shouldn't make the alpha mask entirely black. make a part of it black and a part white
Dual Feb 27, 2006, 07:30 PM Ok, I messed around with the mod alittle and I think I see what the problem is. You have all the flags in a folder called "banners", when they should all be in the Art/Interface/TeamColor folder.
I moved them there and edited the CIV4ArtDefines_Civilization.xml file to the new location, and it seemed to make the flags show up. Though I only tested four of them out.
Try that out and see if it solves the problem for you.

All I can say is
Thanks!
Paasky Feb 28, 2006, 02:21 AM Didn't work, they're still white even thought the path is Art/Interface/TeamColor/gbr.dds...
Haarbal, what part should be what colour? If the alpha is white, the flags are too dark, if it's black, they're white. If it's the middle gray, they get coloured by the civ-colour...
This can't be too hard?
Haarbal Feb 28, 2006, 11:44 AM i'm not really out myself (gave up after a while :))
just try lots of things out, and also load up some good working flags from other mods (haven't done this myself, but it looks like a good solution though :))
Paasky Feb 28, 2006, 11:50 AM I might have come up with a solution. I loaded them up with our "good pc" with very high graphics, and they were visible perfectly. So I'm blaming Ultra-Low settings on this one :D
And the flag-packs all have a fully-black alpha channel, checked that.

Hmm, it's working fine for me after changing what I said:
118028
Are you sure you created the new folder and edited the xml correctly? You might need to uncache the old xml too. Otherwise I don't know why it would work for me but not for you.
EDIT: Looks like I posted a couple mins too late. I'm glad you figured out what was going on.

What version of CIV d'you have?
Paasky Feb 28, 2006, 12:36 PM 1.52 (duh?)
flyingsquirrel Mar 01, 2006, 10:38 PM i have same problem, except my flag goe black instead of white.....help please?
Paasky Mar 02, 2006, 01:17 AM The problem with me was that on some 3d-cards, the flags go white if the alpha channel is black. And they go PlayerSecondaryColor if the alpha channel is white. So to fix this, you need to make the alpha's white & secondarycolors white (xml file is in civ4\Assets\XML\interface\CIV4PlayerColorInfos.xml )
