In that case, I nominate fe3333au, pending his response to my nomination of him for Chief Foreign Minister. (I'd rather have him in that post, but if he declines the nomination, I nominate him for this post).

I already gave you a spanking in 3rd Crusade, do not make me do it again. On second thoughts, that is just awful. :vomit:

Who would you rather have as your UN rep, someone who dresses up as a French maid, being neither French or a woman, or someone who is doing the job right now and is a proven talent is guiding this team? The choice is pretty simple.
Now here it is put in visuals just so you know how terrifying that thought actually is.

Big Job this term !!! :goodjob:

I predict contact with 2 civs over the next 20 turns

How do you plan to Deal with that Fe?

How do you plan to Deal with that Fe?

Provostial statement: I believe this would be a task more for the Foreign Minister. The UN Rep position is more for handling official game mechanical situations. (Posting votes for significant game issues and such).

I want the UN Rep to be responsible, in addition to the regular duties, for presenting the other teams with our Press Releases, maybe every 5 turns or so.

Other teams no doubt know that we have had terrific luck with Huts. Let's egg them on a bit, and let them think the worst. There's nothing like an Official Press Release for spreading misinformation ;)

Does the candidate have any thoughts on this?

gbno1fan

I wonder if we should modify the constitution to merge the UN Ambassador with the Foreign Minister.

The UN Ambassador does not have much to do, and we seem to have trouble convincing people to pursue the Foreign Ministry position.

The spots deal with very similar issues.

Hi,

I really like the idea about press releases! :goodjob: Psychological warfare is great...although we have to be careful about this; we don't want the others to think we're too far advanced, which could make them decide to form an alliance against us, weakening our initial diplomacy once we've met them...

I'm not in favour of combining the positions ... and if they are I would have to decline the nomination due to a temporary health issue.

Regarding Press Releases ... I think you will find these counter the rules as we would be having a 'form' of contact with civilizations we have not yet met within the game.

And even if my interpretation is incorrect, and the Press Release is seen as a strange message washed ashore in a bottle of exotic design... I would suggest a rethink as we could inadvertently give away information about ourselves ... without gaining any intel in return.

DaveMcW

If you are worried about breaking the rules, just ask an admin to look at the press release first.

There are lots of silly stories we can tell about our civ that will not give away important information. We could lie about some details, but I think it's better to include true but useless details. Example: Our people's favorite food is rice.

In the C3C MTDG ... this type of fun fluff posting happened only after every team had officially met in game.

Makes sense too if you think about it ... at the moment we are the only civilized nation in the known world.

classical_hero
May 13, 2006, 05:37 AM
I believe this is a pointless position. I believe that we should combine this with the Provost position.

fe3333au
May 13, 2006, 05:55 AM
I agree with you Classical Hero ... but if you follow that reasoning, we may as well abolish the concept of a 'government' all together.

The idea is for including as many willing participants as possible, and the UN Rep is the perfect position for those who don't have the game ... or those who have time constraints.

Therefore I see no reason to delete the position of UN Rep, at least while there is an interest from members to nominate.

The nomination period is now closed.

Due to lack of competition, the Head of the Office of UN Relations for Term 2 is fe3333au.

What do you think about having a recruitment thread in the public forum? It would give us a chance to get people like this, without spamming the sign-up thread.

The prophet of Kebab wishes to know more about the teams otherwise he will apply for the team he knows the most about, currently team epsilon.

peter grimes
May 17, 2006, 09:03 PM
I don't know what Fe thinks, but I, for one, think that's an excellent idea. In fact, if the thread is initiated by Epsilon, and most of the posts are by Epsilonians, then we stand a greater chance of recruiting more players than the other teams.

I would lobby this office to start such a thread immediately :)

I agree. This is a very intriguing idea.

The Office of the Humanities offers full support in implementing it.

I'd say that we merge this position with the Provost, considering that noone is interested in this job.

twistlok
Jul 05, 2006, 11:52 AM
I feel like a complete slacker but, while I would gladly help out, I fear I dont hve the experience to be useful to the team yet. Just mentioning that so people dont think I am just completely lazy.

DaveMcW
Jul 05, 2006, 12:04 PM
I second twistlok's self-nomination.

You don't need to make any decisions, just start a discussion thead and announce the results. Checking the forum every day is a plus. :)

peter grimes

This office ensures that Epsilon Team! speaks with one voice in Public. No knowledge of the Game is required. As for experience required, all that's necessary is a cool head and little organizational ability. I'm sure Twistlok can handle it ;)

I nominate the President or Foreign Minister to take over this office. It may require a constitutional ammendment to pass, but it makes sense to allow our most active players to cover this important job.

gbno1fan
Sep 06, 2006, 07:16 AM
So do we want to amend the constitution to merge this office with another, or is someone interested in taking up the post?

classical_hero

Amend the constitution. I would say that this position be merged with your job, gb.

Memphus
Sep 06, 2006, 07:25 PM
I second that!

gbno1fan
Sep 07, 2006, 12:49 PM
According to the constitution, here is the procedure for amendments:

1) Amending the Constitution
This constitution may be amended in 2 ways
A) Factual/typographical errors: Any citizen may point out and have the Provost correct simple spelling or typo errors.
B) Substantive errors: If something significant needs to be changed, a unanimous vote by the current Officers or a 2/3 vote by the citizens and the constitution will be changed by the Provost to reflect the changes.

So, we need to write an amendment and I'll hold a vote. Any takers to write the amendment?

This office has been closed due to this amendment (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=185398) to our constitution.

General_W, since you posted the constitution, could you change it to reflect the amendment?
