Any departmental disagreements will be settled by the CDO. The CDO is responsible to run a “Domestic Office” thread with a summary of the current happenings in all Domestic departments.

E) Department of Economy
- Run by the Chief Domestic Officer or an appointee of the CDO.

- Before the sliders can be adjusted to produce a negative gold return, the Department of the Budget must approve.
- Responsible to maintain the “Department of the Economy” thread.
Good Luck to all the candidates going for the Chief Domestic Officer :goodjob:
gbno1fan Mar 03, 2006, 10:48 AM I nominate Memphus for this position.
General_W Mar 03, 2006, 11:36 AM I'll nominate Kylearan to this position also!
Kylearan has had great input, has lots of great experiance in Civ4, and so far has been unable to avoid "just lurking"! ;)
I think he'd make a wonderful (and Intimidating) President for our Team.
Memphus Mar 03, 2006, 01:24 PM I nominate Memphus for this position.
I Accept this nomination :hammer:
As Chief Domestic Officer, I will be committed to getting Epsilon Team off on the right :move:. The opening turns [civ4] are extremely crucial to the developement of Epsilonia! By encouraging friendly discussion, I will make sure that our opening 20 Turns will be Strong, and set us up for whatever path we choose, whether it be  war or :religion: peace
I intend to appoint a 2 team members to the Department of Industry and Department of Economy, to allow for specialized focus on critical early game strategies thus allowing a :traderoute: triangle :traderoute: of :hammers: POWER :hammers: in the The Office of Domestic Policy!
It would be a pleasure to serve the team as Chief Domestic Officer
and I look forward to being a part of this wonderful team!
Edited for a non working smilies :foot: != :move: and :civ: != [civ4] oops :crazyeye:
gbno1fan Mar 03, 2006, 04:20 PM Memphus, what will you be looking for in your appointed players?
Memphus Mar 03, 2006, 08:36 PM Memphus, what will you be looking for in your appointed players?
A Different perspective from my own.
I am very proficient in fast domination (See GOTM3 here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=3739248&postcount=112)) and have stong :strength: strategies for an opening game. So in the appointed players I would look for
Specifically:
one player: well versed in mulitplayer, and the cautious aspect of the game
I.E. To argue the dangers of opening building a worker and not a warrior (early rush )
Other Player: To possibly even never have played [civ4], or very little experience with it and can cast an opinion on which way to go wieghing the alternatives evenly. Hence the :traderoute: triangle :traderoute: of :hammers: Power :hammers:
I.E. The deciding vote on opening building a worker and not a warrior, because this is one of our large discussions for the first 20 turns.
So Ideally there will be two major discussion in The Office of Domestic Policy for the opening of the game:
1.Which unit to build first
2. Which tech to reasearch first
After that point, more of the game will be revealed and can be more read and react. However prior to this, we will have to base our descision on team members previous experience with what works.
Kylearan Mar 04, 2006, 07:11 AM Hi,
I'll nominate Kylearan to this position also!
Thanks, I feel honoured - but I have to decline for now. It's bad enough I couldn't resist the temptation to delurk already, but I'd like not to get involved more than this for the time being. ;)
I'd like to be more of an active advisor instead, to serve as a counsellor to the different departments. (Yeah I know, "councellor" isn't really a role appearing anywhere in the constitution... :crazyeye: )
I'd simply cannot guarantee to be able to devote a constant amount of time to the MTDG to assume a more official role for now, and being in a different time zone than most of you doesn't really help either.
-Kylearan
fe3333au Mar 04, 2006, 07:45 AM I wouldn't worry about the time zone thing ... Epsilon spans the globe.
But surely not just a 'counsellor' but may I suggest an Uber-Counsellor :salute: ... I look forward to our discussion threads, I'm sure they will be very informative ... machts gut, zum vohlzeit und prost
peter grimes Mar 04, 2006, 12:36 PM I wonder if Kylearan would accept the post of Devil's Advocate, which would seem to be a sort of ombudsman, always looking at the other side of the question...?
gbno1fan Mar 04, 2006, 07:58 PM I wonder if Kylearan would accept the post of Devil's Advocate, which would seem to be a sort of ombudsman, always looking at the other side of the question...?
Does this mean you're planning on voting for me? ;)
Seriously, I think he'd be great for the position. If I'm voted in, I'll contact him right away. :)
Kylearan Mar 05, 2006, 04:16 AM Hi,
I wonder if Kylearan would accept the post of Devil's Advocate
 I like that one.
Something like this is what I had in mind for me to contribute to our team: To outline what options we have in a given situation, and what the possible consequences of these options would be, both positive and negative, taking all I know about Civ 4's game mechanics into account. I hope I will thus be able to make the final decision easier of what choice will be best for our strategy. I see myself more to be a scientist than a politician... ;)
-Kylearan
fe3333au Mar 07, 2006, 08:30 PM :bump: Opened on the 3rd March 11pm ... so will close 10th March 11.00pm +10 GMT
So we need any other nominations confirmed by then !!
fe3333au Mar 10, 2006, 05:54 AM Nomination Period Closed ...

Nominations for the next elections (to take place during turns 18-20) are now open.
Please post your nominations for the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy in this thread.
General_W May 10, 2006, 12:00 PM Memphus is doing a bang-up job... I'm already learning a lot.
I heartily nominate him for a second term.
[party]
Memphus May 10, 2006, 12:15 PM Well in that case I Accept,
This next term is really going to set the tone for the game.
And I mean who can complain about discovering 4 Technologies in 20 turns
(including Writing and Animal Husbandry ;) )
Wow the epartment of Economy is on fire...thanks to some huts :goodjob:
peter grimes May 10, 2006, 01:33 PM Indeed! Great Job, Memphus :)
gbno1fan May 16, 2006, 07:52 AM The nomination period is now closed.
Due to lack of competition, the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy for Term 2 is Memphus.
Memphus May 18, 2006, 07:33 AM  I will do my best to keep our research rate up  ...Come on HUT
DaveMcW May 18, 2006, 08:48 AM Yeah, Defense is kicking your butt in research. ;)
gbno1fan Jun 26, 2006, 08:52 AM We are now on turn 15 of the current term.
Nominations for the next elections (to take place during turns 18-20) are now open.
Please post your nominations for the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy in this thread.
General_W Jun 26, 2006, 04:27 PM I'll do the obvious and re-nominate Memphus!
I'm sure most of you will agree with me that he has done an outstanding job - and deserves a lot of credit for our dominance thus far. :goodjob:
lost_civantares Jun 26, 2006, 05:28 PM I second the nomination. He's earned it. :)
Memphus Jun 26, 2006, 08:58 PM All the way from the Candian rockies I humbly accept.
This Set of turns will see the Glorious Epsilonians complete the world's first Library
Not only that but we will venture out to the south and set up a second settlement
Furthermore by the end of the next term you will see our diligent team of scientist found one of the worlds Religions as well as almost complete a wonder known as the Oracle :)
Are you as excited as I am to meet our southern neighbour?
gbno1fan Jul 05, 2006, 09:42 AM The nomination period is now closed.
Due to lack of competition, the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy for Term 3 is Memphus.
gbno1fan Aug 29, 2006, 08:41 AM We are now on turn 15 of the current term.
Nominations for the next elections (to take place during turns 18-20) are now open.
Please post your nominations for the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy in this thread.
Memphus Aug 29, 2006, 12:12 PM I nominate Lost_Civ to take up the challenge :)
lost_civantares Aug 29, 2006, 02:58 PM Thank you very much for the nomination, but I decline, I'm going to be starting a (probably very busy) school year and I need to remove distractions, not add to them. ;) For this term at least, I will only made comments, not deliver forth the will of Epsilon.
Due to that I nominate Kentharu.
gbno1fan Sep 06, 2006, 07:18 AM Kentharu, do you accept or decline the nomination?
Are there any other nominations?
If no one accepts a nomination by the beginning of the term, the President will be allowed to appoint someone to fill the role.
lost_civantares Sep 06, 2006, 06:29 PM Searching for Kentharu's last post, it seems that the last time he was active was in June, so it looks like we will have to find someone else.
If there really is no one else willing to step up I will be Domestic Minister, but I don't think that I will be able to give my full capabilites to that role that otherwise would be.
Memphus Sep 06, 2006, 07:23 PM Dave You have enough time for this position?
DaveMcW Sep 06, 2006, 07:48 PM Could I sign up as governor of Epsilon Eridani?
Memphus Sep 07, 2006, 07:18 AM Now that would be an interesting idea.
@Lost_Civ would you be ok with being the governer of Eternal Eye while Dave being the Governer of Epsilon Eridani?
Personally I think this is a great solution
Items such as Tech path can be discussed between the two of you and in the area of a dispute I could resolve (or it could go to vote)
classical_hero Sep 07, 2006, 08:10 AM Co ministers then.
lost_civantares Sep 07, 2006, 12:18 PM That would be fine.
gbno1fan Oct 27, 2006, 07:56 AM We are now on turn 15 of the current term.
Nominations for the next elections (to take place during turns 18-20) are now open.
Please post your nominations for the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy in this thread.
Memphus Oct 27, 2006, 04:37 PM Dave you interested in taking over the department full time? :)
DaveMcW Nov 02, 2006, 07:00 PM I guess I can take it...
But I'd really like to get a science advisor and city governors to help me out. It's no fun running everything by myself.
gbno1fan Nov 03, 2006, 07:03 AM The nomination period is now closed.
Due to lack of competition, the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy for Term 5 is DaveMcW.
gbno1fan Dec 08, 2006, 08:20 AM We are now on turn 15 of the current term.
Nominations for the next elections (to take place during turns 18-20) are now open.
Please post your nominations for the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy in this thread.
Memphus Dec 08, 2006, 08:38 AM Give me a D
Give me a A
.... I think we know where it is going from Here!
I nominate DaveMcW!
DaveMcW Dec 08, 2006, 09:44 AM I nominate M@ni@c.
gbno1fan Dec 11, 2006, 08:22 AM Do either of the candidates accept the nomination?
DaveMcW Dec 16, 2006, 12:53 PM I guess I can volunteer for another term.
Memphus Dec 16, 2006, 04:28 PM I guess I can volunteer for another term.
Alright alright
lost_civantares Jan 22, 2007, 07:36 PM We are now on turn 15 16 of the current term. (so close! I was trying to time it right.)
Nominations for the next elections (to take place approxamently during turns 18-20) are now open.
Please post your nominations for the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy in this thread.
Memphus Jan 22, 2007, 08:19 PM I guess I can volunteer for another term.
Awsome! Becuase I know the next 20 turns are going to really settle the Empire Domestically!
General_W Jan 23, 2007, 10:47 AM  ... it appears Dave has "volunteered" for another term :mischief:
and I'll second that... :D
lost_civantares Jan 23, 2007, 12:20 PM I'm glad he's so eager. I don't know what we'd do with out him. :D
lost_civantares Jan 26, 2007, 02:40 PM DaveMcW, I hope you wanted to do another term, because there's nothing else you can do. :p
May the slaves cry out for mercy after you switch their working tiles for 60 straight turns, the scientists lose their voice crying for more funding then "perfectly enough", and the citizens life in perfect luxury, ready to give all they own for the glory of The Leader.
You are now the head of the Domestic Department for the entirety of Term 7. :)
gbno1fan Mar 09, 2007, 08:16 AM We are now on turn 19(!) of the current term.
Nominations for the next elections (to take place during turns 20-21) are now open.
The next term will start on turn 142 and last until 160.
Please post your nominations for the Head of the Office of Domestic Policy in this thread.
General_W Mar 09, 2007, 11:04 AM I guess I can volunteer for another term.
Hooray! Thanks Dave!
I second your "nomination"
[party] :mischief:
DaveMcW Mar 09, 2007, 11:35 AM I nominate everybody on our team with a pulse.
gbno1fan Mar 09, 2007, 11:38 AM
I decline the nomination. ;)
peter grimes Mar 09, 2007, 02:11 PM Decline :)
Memphus Mar 09, 2007, 02:22 PM Decline...seeing as I can't hold two offices ;)
General_W Mar 09, 2007, 04:23 PM Ditto.
I decline :)
I'm hoping this is just humor on the part of our glorious Domestic Minister... you're not actually looking for a break are you?
classical_hero Mar 09, 2007, 09:14 PM Does that include himself in the nominations?
azzaman333 Mar 09, 2007, 10:16 PM Decline, no time.
Memphus Mar 09, 2007, 10:43 PM Does that include himself in the nominations?
I Believe it does if everyone else with a "puls" declines ;)
And according to my Calculations you Classic_hero are the only "pulse" memeber (which I have roughly defined as someone who has posted in the last weekish) who has yet to decline ;)
So Dave? :) I know the team wouldn't be the same without your domestic input as that is what really makes or breaks the team.
classical_hero Mar 10, 2007, 09:15 AM I will wait for Dave, before responding.
gbno1fan Mar 12, 2007, 09:40 PM Dave, what's your verdict? Are you accepting the nomination?
classical_hero Mar 13, 2007, 08:29 AM If Dave does not nominate, then I will take it by default. The two greatest words in the English language. ;)
Memphus Mar 13, 2007, 12:22 PM The sooner this can be settled the better as there are very big empire descision over the next 2 turns.
I.E. do we start to focus on Libraries / Universities so that our capital can build Oxford?
peter grimes Mar 13, 2007, 12:25 PM You mean after the Theatres complete, right?
Memphus Mar 13, 2007, 12:31 PM You mean after the Theatres complete, right?
theater is already done in Capital and Now Immortal Kepp.
will be done in Port of Mists in 2 Turns
will be done in EE in 7 turns (but then EE is building Globe)
will be done in Mighty B in X turns (havn't figured out yet with the whip)
So The questions is does Immortal Keep go back to more maceman or does it prioritize a University?
classical_hero Mar 14, 2007, 07:31 AM Oxford is a great thing to have, so it would be good for us to get the libs and unis required for Oxford. Obviously it would be best to get them in the best commerce cities so that we can use the extra science output greater.
gbno1fan Mar 14, 2007, 07:58 AM I think Dave's time has to be up. We need to move on as the game is moving on.
The Head of the Office of Domestic Policy for Term 8 will be classical_hero due to lack of competition.
DaveMcW Apr 20, 2007, 10:26 PM I'm beginning to miss giving orders. :D
So I'll sign up for Term 9.
Memphus Apr 21, 2007, 05:51 AM I second :goodjob: :salute:
classical_hero Apr 22, 2007, 12:43 AM He is a much better person for the job.
General_W Apr 22, 2007, 12:57 AM I must say, I'm glad to see Dave's hat back in the ring. He's a master.
But you did a fine job while Dave took a break Classical! Thanks. :hatsoff:
Memphus Apr 25, 2007, 12:18 PM DaveMcW will be The Dometic Minister for Term 9
