Is anyone planning on getting the 80$ Galactic Edition of Spore? It seems to me its a little overpriced for only two documentaries and 2 books.Yes, I pre-ordered it. At the time, I didn't think of pre-ordering the standard game, but the price difference is tiny (15 dollars) between the game I had reserved at the local EB games and the galactic edition mentioned in the SPORE newsletter. There is a short article about future expansions. The article really is just about the fact they plan to make expansions, the only idea they mention is the possibility of a flora editor in an expansion. Not really anything else.

I might have missed this being said, but have you guys seen the Spore Prototypes (http://www.spore.com/comm/prototypes)?

I keep downloading them, but I haven't tried playing any yet. Most just seemed like tech demos.

I tried the Space one and even for a tech demo its pretty fun. Hooray for zap guns. I do hope the tool selection will be better in the final version. Its really hard to select a weapon when you have 30 blobs shooting at you and 3 or 4 rounds of them can kill you.

I have a feeling war might be kind of difficult depending on your special abilities.

This is a major annoyance in any space-based game. Once you get more than about 15 objects in a battle, it's annoying to select which one.
Maybe there will be an overview like Eve Online's.

Hopefully they just allow you to hotkey tools so you can quickly hit the button and use it
