Victoria and I traded maps. Upon finishing the trade I got the bonus for circumnatigating the globe. I was wondering why I got hte bonus and not her (I don't have carvals yet and my galley is docked next to a city).

View Full Version : Circumnavigate the globe with trading maps Lithgon Mar 04, 2006, 12:52 PM Victoria and I traded maps. Upon finishing the trade I got the bonus for circumnatigating the globe. I was wondering why I got hte bonus and not her (I don't have carvals yet and my galley is docked next to a city). Meffy Mar 04, 2006, 01:35 PM Appears to me that being the non-AI player -- the player who was acting at the time -- you got "served" before she did. Good luck, that! Lord Olleus Mar 04, 2006, 01:36 PM the human player has the id 0 while the AI's have id 1 to however many AI's their are. Barbarians have id 18. As the human player has the lowest id it alwasy goes first. Meffy Mar 04, 2006, 01:39 PM Good to know there's one reliable gimme in the game. :-D Rast Mar 04, 2006, 03:07 PM To get the bonus for circumnavigation you just need to have an unbroken line of explored tiles that goes all the way around the globe. Note that the lattitude of the tiles doesn't matter, you just need to have an explored tile at every x (longitude) coordinate on the map. And yes, it's far easier to get the bonus from map trading than actually going out and sailing the globe - generally I spend a few hundred gold buying a map from the first civ I gain contact with since Astromony is a low-priority tech for me most of the time. Thalassicus Mar 04, 2006, 05:16 PM His question was mainly why it chose one player over the other :) It also applies to wonders: if you and the AI would both finish a wonder on the same turn, you get to go first. |
