View Full Version : A different Mod idea-I think!

As most of you, I've played many different PC games, although my gaming interest is "strategy". Again, with great admiration to those "modders" who provide us with so many new toys and options, I'd like to propose something different for the game. Most of the people are working on "units" , "combining and improving the "vanilla Civ", which I love. It makes the game better.

It occured to me though that some of the other games that I've played had added a more personal aspect that I ,and maybe myself alone, really enjoyed: Promotions and Rewards.

If I'm playing any Civ, let's say America; I'm actually in the service of FDR or Washington. My thought is that as you labor fighting barbarians, building your Civ, helping it gain prestige and power so that you win the game for your civ, that along the way, the Civ leader could promote, admonish or reward the players efforts.

Perhaps one would start the game as a basic general-untested. A Civ leader may propose a specific task, such as taking an enemy city, or accompishing the completion of a wonder in order to reward or promote. failure, of course would be tolerated only so long. Success would bring rewards to your Civ and to you as well: ie, medals and eventually promotions to other posts, depending on which way you want to take your Civ.( conquest, diplomacy, space race or culture.
At critcal points in the game the Civ leader might ask you to accept either a diplomatic post to deal with a threat, or perhaps take a military option, such as Sec. of Defense, Head of Secret Police, Minister of Internal Affairs, or Sec. of State, various embassy posts to gather certain intellegence, which would lead you to take over CIA or Homeland Security.
If playing culture, one might accept the post of Emessary, Ambassador, Lord of trade and Plantations, Minister of Culture, etc.
In Space Race one would would assume a little scientific and military roles. These are just quick overview thoughts. If anyone sees any fun or value in something like this, I'm working on more specific ladders of succession and repercussions for failures and the effects on your Civ.

Sincerely,
Pale Rider

Love It! Now, to incorporate this into my mideivil mod which seems to just keep expanding (all sorts of stuff out there that I've posted and they all fit together so nicely...), I'm thinking you start out as a leader with the status of freeman, and then climb up, to knight, to baron, to duke, to bishop, to king? That's the male version at least... Could work, right?
