View Full Version : Funniest things in Gal civ
Xenos Mar 09, 2006, 09:18 AM The video for gaining a cultural victory always makes be laugh, the races done anime style and of course iKorx. Last night while going for a influence win, i had the AI complain to me about a party on one of my starbases, his daughter and her choice of clothes.
woodelf Mar 09, 2006, 10:19 AM I like the Space Minaturization (sp) quote. Makes me chuckle every time.
Supreme Shogun Mar 09, 2006, 03:12 PM I like one of the defenses.. maybe its enhanced reflectors (not sure) "but it keeps us protected and stuff and other junk. Look marketing has the day off, ok ? "
It struck me as funny.
woodelf Mar 09, 2006, 03:26 PM That one is classic too and most likely better than anything my company's marketing could come up with....
Gunner Mar 09, 2006, 04:30 PM The tech quotes are so funny! I love being able to research new things so I can see them.
Silpheed Mar 10, 2006, 03:33 PM Soil Enhancement:
"They said I was daft to build a castle in the swamp! But I built it, just to show 'em. That one sank into the swamp. So I built another one. It sank into the swamp. So I build a third one. That burned, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up! And that's what you're getting, the strongest workmanship."
Sahkuhnder Mar 10, 2006, 10:33 PM Soil Enhancement:

You can't go wrong with a Monty Python quote. :D
Xenos Mar 11, 2006, 06:10 AM Find the sparrow weapon component in the ship builder, it reads this bird ain't nice
SzechuanLlama Mar 13, 2006, 08:44 AM One of the Xeno Farming techs - maybe the first? - has a great quote:
(paraphrasing) "Old Macdonald has a farm, E I E I O... and on his farm he has a Granoch (can't remember the exact name), E I E I AH! Owwwww It's got my leg, get it off, aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
Hilarious.
woodelf Mar 13, 2006, 09:13 AM The only thing missing from the quotes would be voice overs. Maybe John Cleese or some British comedian. ;)
Ghost Mar 13, 2006, 09:18 AM I love the description of the squirle looking minor race
Draginol Mar 14, 2006, 02:53 PM Every game needs a pyschotic alien squirrel. ;)
Sgt Grimes Mar 16, 2006, 04:39 AM Playing as Mr Spock, leader of the Borg - and it was a first contact greeting from an alien race...............
" I suppose I should be asking you for your autograph "
I nearly fell out my chair when I read it! :D
Supreme Shogun Mar 19, 2006, 12:28 AM There was a thread on the main site clamoring for William Shatner to do voices, well since Nimoy did Civ 4...
ok ok, back on topic.
Advanced Logistics - "Yep. Bigger fleets and more starbases. "
Ultimate Logistics - "Look we're everywhere ok ? Get used to it. "
played a longer game and got way further into the ol tech tree that time. There's plenty of humour throughout it.
atomicgopher Mar 31, 2006, 03:42 PM The funniest thing I have seen in game so far has got to be the quote for one of the life support techs where it goes through failed advertising solgans. The funniest one had to be "buy me or die".
Farae Mar 31, 2006, 10:26 PM Part of the Expert Diplomacy Quote:
"Note to self: Pull my finger is not a diplomatic option."
(may have gotten that wrong)
Nath Apr 01, 2006, 01:28 AM The Yor's inability to get over the fact that I talk with my flapping meat mouth.
Someone really needs to mod HK-47 in as the Yor leader, I yearn to be called a meatbag once again. >.>
Blazer6 Apr 01, 2006, 10:13 AM I laughed when one of the citizens mentioned about the rumored bad habits of aliens besides what they eat.
Artagel Apr 11, 2006, 09:29 AM planet classification listing.. I believe its a class 5 or 6 planet..
"THIS IS CETI ALPHA V!!!"
Supreme Shogun Apr 11, 2006, 10:01 AM PQ 7..8..9 Central Michigan
mossmonster Apr 14, 2006, 05:46 PM The humor is like frosting on a wonderful cake.
JavalTigar Apr 17, 2006, 02:22 PM I like the custom race options for population growth.
10%--frisky
20%--very frisky
40%--fruitful
70%--don't ask
I laughed out loud and had to show it to Mrs. Tigar!
Swiss Bezerker Apr 17, 2006, 08:05 PM The pokemon sf=poof was funny, thank you.
PQ 7..8..9 Central Michigan
Northern michgan ;)

"THIS IS CETI ALPHA V!!!"
I dont get that one. Can someone explain it?
smjjames Apr 17, 2006, 08:08 PM I don't get it either but I guess it has to do with the V bieng the roman numeral for 5.
zyphyr Apr 17, 2006, 10:46 PM I dont get that one. Can someone explain it?
Watch "Star Trek II : The Wrath of Kahn".
Vizzini Apr 18, 2006, 11:25 AM So the Torian's colonized a little PQ6 or some crappy planet like that - right in my own backyard. Didn't mind, since they invariably flip later and save me the hassle of colonizing them. Still, it was right in the heart of my best production planets... two star systems that were cranking out scads of ships. I was parking ships and organizing fleets around there when the following popped up.
This was a "Challenging" level game, AI set to "bright" (one step down from Intelligent)
Laughed my arse off
Pentium Apr 18, 2006, 03:21 PM :rotfl: .
AceChilla Apr 23, 2006, 08:53 AM Thats so funny

Farae May 04, 2006, 07:28 PM LOL
That is classical. ^_^
noamberg May 09, 2006, 01:23 AM This game was built with a lot of self humor that makes it a step more fun then it already was !
damunzy May 10, 2006, 09:56 PM I've gotten this one a lot of times - aggrevating when I am just moving a fleet past to invade another civ. Maybe I should take off a weapon or two and add some engines. ;) BTW, I use much faster ships now.

Chaos_BF1942 Jun 28, 2006, 06:06 AM I dont get that one. Can someone explain it?
It was where Khan was at in Star Trek
The funniest thing I seen so far is when Diplomacy, one of the AI races said, "May all the hamsters of your world dance the dance of joy"

I saw that quote about "this is not a video game" in the normal level as well
ho ho
Lord_Iggy Jan 27, 2007, 02:23 AM I saw something like that in 'Crazy Yor'.
Defiant47 Feb 04, 2007, 02:03 AM One of my early games, I was glad to see that it showed + and - diplomacy modifiers and such. However, when I saw
- "We know what you're doing..."
I paused, and was like "...what am I doing?"... it's funny because I had no idea what I was doing at the time!
R.B. Feb 14, 2007, 05:23 PM Anyone have DA yet? If so, have you looked at those asteroids lately? Anyone notice that some of them looks like lasts nights dinner? You know what I mean...
VladTepes Feb 20, 2007, 05:44 PM Choice for event:
"Have the Marines dust off, nuke the site from orbit. Only way to be sure."
Anyone else find other movie quotes?
