View Full Version : Defense Office, Term 1 azzaman333 Mar 10, 2006, 04:27 PM Hopefully, Term 1 will be a quite term for the defense office. I dont want to send our units into the other teams lands too early.;) Memphus Apr 16, 2006, 12:22 PM You get control of the warrior though correct? I.E. for the tiem being get to head up the exploration orders? DaveMcW Apr 16, 2006, 01:13 PM 3960BC: The DIE requests that the warrior move north to the northern hill and see if there are any fish in the sea. Memphus Apr 16, 2006, 05:38 PM I think in the interest of everyone on the team for our unique unit the Cho-Ku-Nu this thread should be read to get some ideas on what/how we can use them. Cho-Ku-Nu discussion (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=3936289) azzaman333 Apr 16, 2006, 06:57 PM North appears to me to be the best move in this case for the warrior, so that is where he shall go. :) DaveMcW Apr 16, 2006, 10:15 PM The Domestic Minister wants to build a worker first, meaning our next warrior won't be built for 20-25 turns. How do you plan to defend our land during this time? Will we get any exploration done? Is a 2nd warrior more valuable than getting a jump on worker moves? azzaman333 Apr 16, 2006, 10:18 PM I've seen a certain plan used before, where we build a warrior until we hit size 2, when we switch to a worker. If we do something like that, we could get both earlier than if we solely build a worker first, then the warrior. Memphus Apr 16, 2006, 11:29 PM I've seen a certain plan used before, where we build a warrior until we hit size 2, when we switch to a worker. If we do something like that, we could get both earlier than if we solely build a worker first, then the warrior. Alright with the Department of Defence in mind this time ;) , I have extrapolated a micromanagment of our first turns which allow us to get produce a warrior in 3560B.C. (without affecting our research rate) This involves switchingbetween the plains tile with a forest to the south, net 1 :food:, 2 :hammers: and the floodplains net 3 :food: and 1 :gold: . Ultimately the worker will come out 5 turns after the discovery of pottery (so 5 turns later than if we were to produce a worker first.) However when you consider that with worker first, his first two turns are spent making a road because pottery is yet to be discovered, it makes more sense to go with the warrior first micromanage. Ultimately we lose out on 3 productive worker turns to get a second military unit out ~15 turns in the game sooner...seems like no contest to me ;) Attached is the save and the screenshot :) azzaman333 Apr 17, 2006, 12:01 AM Thank goodness there are people in this team who can be bothered testing stuff unlike me! That sounds great to me (although i am basically an idiot :crazyeye: ) Memphus Apr 17, 2006, 12:04 AM A 9 turn introduction for the outlook of the office of the domestic party is now available :) please check it out Of course it assumes we settle in place ;) found here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=3937588) Agarwaen Apr 17, 2006, 06:59 AM warrior while grow then a worker? sounds the better to me:) fe3333au Apr 17, 2006, 08:42 AM Looks good ... I'm impressed :salute: Memphus Apr 17, 2006, 02:39 PM Oh by the way for anyone who was concerned about why for the first two turns we place the citizen on the plains tile with the forest (+1 :food: +2 :hammers: ) (instead of floodplains for 6 then switch) it is because if for some unforseen reason we need that warrior faster (i.e. sirian put two teams extra close together and one decides to go to war) we can gt our warrior our in 5 turns from the start (that is very fast) That's just our domestic officer looking out for our defense officer ;) General_W Apr 17, 2006, 07:32 PM Looks great! :goodjob: In MP, I always think it's best to hedge your bets with a warrior first - then a worker. Memphus Apr 23, 2006, 01:49 PM I would think SE would be our best move this turn? Any other thoughts? DaveMcW Apr 23, 2006, 04:49 PM SE looks good. I think we're playing too fast for azzaman to keep up. ;) Azzaman, you're welcome to give general instructions like "explore this area" if you can't keep up with every screenshot. Memphus Apr 23, 2006, 05:42 PM Once Again I am thinking SE to the hill :) azzaman333 Apr 23, 2006, 10:38 PM Generally, i'd like to see our warrior move SE. We appear to be close to the northern pole due to the tundra to the north. Kentharu Apr 26, 2006, 08:14 AM i think moving along the river is a good bet, nice lands and resources would normally liter rivers, plus, awesome growth so... next warrior along river? |
