View Full Version : How can I mod AI to be more agressive against HUMAN PLAYER?
Conqueror Worm Mar 12, 2006, 01:09 AM How can I mod the AI to be more agressive against the human player? In Civ 2 it was easy, just go into the editor and 1) make your reputation bad by changing it from 0, your starting rep, to 100, the rep of a civ that has broken a lot of treaties and done other bad things, and 2) make all the AI dislike you from the start by editing their attitude toward you by altering that number as well. It was really very simple, and it was all in the editor in the fantastic worlds edition. Is it possible to do something similiar with civ 3?
Also, wouldn't it be nice if there was a simple way to get tech from conquest back in the game?
By the way, I recently made all resources bonus and thus untradable, made all tech untradable, and made all maps and communications untradable as well, and finally of course eliminated barbarians, and the lag times are finally playable on my dated computer even on Rhye's 170 map with 18 civs. Much faster loading times than even Rhye achieved. Pretty cool, huh!
But about AI agression towards me. Is there any way I can mod that?
Thanks
Dark Sheer Mar 12, 2006, 01:13 AM Isn't there an option in the starting screen to set the AI to be more or less aggressive? There is also an option in the editor to set the aggressiveness of each individual AI. :)
Conqueror Worm Mar 12, 2006, 01:18 AM No, Dark Sheer, I understand that. That was not the question. The question was not how to make the AI more agressive in general. The question was how to make the AI more agressive against the human player.
You see, when my culture is so much higher than theirs, making them more agressive using the two ways you mentioned, only means that they fight each other more, they still lay off me for the most part. I want to make them more agressive towards me.
Heretic_Cata Mar 12, 2006, 02:00 AM If it's a scenario it would be easy with locked alliances. But in a random map game i don't know if it is possible... :(
Conqueror Worm Mar 12, 2006, 02:50 AM It's a scenario. Huge real world map with 18 civs in their correct locations. Actually a modification of Rhye's Extended Mod. Sure, I could lock all 17 computer civs into one allianceand have them all constantly at war with me for the entire 6020 year timespan of the game, but that would be a bit much. If I create four separate alliances with four civs each which are not coded to be at war with me for the entire game, then I imagine the situtation would be pretty much the same as it is now. The alliances would fight each other and ignore me as I usually have a huge lead in culture.
I'm quite certain nothhing can be done in the stock editor. I imagine some number has to be changed in some file somewhere in conquests itself.
Can anyone offer really knowledgable, good advice?
The Last Conformist Mar 12, 2006, 02:53 AM You'd probably need a save game editor.
Conqueror Worm Mar 12, 2006, 04:04 AM I just looked in the utility packs downloads section, particurlarly at save game editors. I'm not famailiar with them, but there didn't seem to be anything there that provided what I'm looking for.
I find it somewhat hard to believe though that after 6 years and all these mods and posts no one has ever tried to mod the reputation and attitude as could be done so easily in the editor in civ 2 in order to make the game a bit more challenging.
I see lots of info in the forum regarding how to keep a clean rep and foster a positive attitude, but, its a dirty rep and a bad attitude I desire, but one that is preprogrammed and thus beyond my control, as I would never be one to rape, burn and pillage of my own accord. Crazy I might be, but stupid I'm not.
Traianus Mar 13, 2006, 05:38 AM Here's one thought. Might not be helpful. If the civ in question has easy access to your lands, give him lots of HN units to send at you. As you destroy more and more of them he will begin to hate you.
It's not really what you're asking for but maybe a way, slightly, around it.
WildWeazel Mar 13, 2006, 07:35 AM Increasing the difficulty level usually helps.
Conqueror Worm Mar 19, 2006, 04:37 AM Thanks for the thoughts, but as I said, Im looking for a way to mod my rep or the ai agreesion level towads me only in a scenario. There must be a number I can change somewhere in some file.
The Last Conformist Mar 19, 2006, 04:48 AM "Must"?
One of the complaints against Civ2 was that the AI got extremely aggressive against the human player, so some effort was spent to make the Civ3 AI treat the human and other AIs the same.
