hey i am looking to start a pbem game with some people. and mature at that.

You can count me in as long as its with people who are gonna see it through to the end. I'm not to bothered as to how fast it plays but I can play almost every day.

ok well i am a noob at how to work a pbem so i will let one of you guys start it. and i would like to be japan.

iam still fairly new to the PBEM matches myself, But it should not be too hard to get one going? Not that Iam volunteering just this min, we need to find everyones prefrence.

Iam open to any kinda game, with most or all victory condidtions. Map size can't be too big, REAL countrys could rise and fall before we finished a large map. You'll need to get everoyones email + timezone, and enter peoples email into start of multi with passwords I guessing??. Everyone should PM you with personal details and you take it from there. How many players so far?

I don't mind starting it just everyone click on my profile name and send me your e-mails,timezone and the name you would like to use in game.

What about game settings though shall we agree on something before we get the ball rolling?

We need to choose what civs we want to be before we start as well. I'll take Washington.

I think a standard map should do if we can get 6 or 7 players. I also like playing terra maps because of the whole extra objective of getting to the new world first.

Ok. There are 9 people now so i think we should stop it at that or it may drag out a bit. So everyone above this post who has said they want to be in it is in.

I'll give you all until 7PM GMT Sunday to PM me your details and then i'll set up the game with turn order decided by timezone. If I get everyones details before then i'll start it earlier.

Does anyone have any problems with the game settings that I put in my last post if so tell me and we'll see what everyone thinks.

By the way, your SMTP server is what is used to send e-mails so entering this will mean you can send turns from within the game instead of having to send it manually. It makes things much easier so I would recommend it.

My only suggestion would be if we have nine players to maybe bump the map size one notch larger.

I was thinking that as well.

I'll wait to see how many people actually send me their details first. If its 6-7 players i'll make it a standard map but it 8-9 players are playing then i'll make it large.

On another note, nobody has chosen the same leader as their first choice so far so I haven't had to turn anyone down yet :D Hopefully this means we'll get a bit of variety in playing styles as well which should make for an interesting game. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I don't start next to Monte :lol:

I am new to PBEM, but I have seen discussions in other PBEM posts regarding tech trading being turned off. I'm not even sure how tech trading would work in PBEM, but I thought I would mention it here in case we need to make some decision now.

Your email provider should be able to provide you with your outgoing SMTP server address. For example, if you were using gmail, it might be "smtp.gmail.com".

is it the same thing as a tcp/ip

Ok. I've got details from six players, i'm including Zukov because there were other players whos details I never recieved. I'll start the game now and the first turn should be sent in about 10 minutes.

Take 1 turn. After you end the turn the game should automatically prompt you to send it to the next player.

I got the turn by e-mail from Craigzoot, but when I opened the file it came up as Craigzoot's (King Leto's) turn. I don't know if maybe you forgot to save it after your turn was over or if something else went wrong. I've never played a PBEM game before. Anyone else know what might have happended?

Craigzoot needs to finish his turn and click end turn. The game should then prompt him to send it on to the next player.

o ok sorry ill do that this is my first time of playing a pbem to but after this is fixed it wont happen again.

When you hit "end turn" the game should prompt you to send it to the next player. I thought that greatkingbeef already entered all our email addresses so it would be automatic.

All the e-mail addresses were entered at the game set up so ending your turn should automatically prompt you to send it to the next player in line.

what if we dont use the stmp as our email provider then it wouldnt let us do it automatically right i mean my stmp is differnt than the one i use. i use hotmail instead.

I think that maybe not having the stmp provider was causing the problem. I never gave Kingbeef my stmp information.

I received the game from Hairystrawberry, and passed it onto Jrocket76.

I couldn't get the in-game email to work so I passed on a manual version of the save.


EDIT - My attempts at the in-game save feature aren't working. I'll try again with a manual Sahkunder to J_RocKeT76 save as you mentioned.

I have patched to 1.61 and was able to load already played PBEM saves without any problems. Do not know if there is any problems if the next person is not patched as have not passed any on yet.

I re-played the 3720 and passed it to JRocket just in case.

Seems to be a problem with the turn sequence in some updated games so probably best just to play from here again.

Go ahead and play the last save you have and pass it on. It's better to re-play one turn than to have all the game progress stop.
