I 've been playing civ and other strategy games since the early 90's.I have limited spare time and no programming skills to create mods of any kind but i really enjoy them.I consider a game's mod scene its most valuable asset , a reason by itself to buy an original game and not a cheap , pirated copy.I'd like to share some thoughts about two aspects of civ:strategy and empire management.
i)I'd like to see a wargame mod (WW2 themed i.e.) ,in which:
TIME is counted in smaller turns (weeks perhaps)
RESEARCH is limited in only a few techs of that specific era ,which is expencive enough to stop you researching everything.Newly acquired techs allow new units or new unit upgrades.
UNITS are more resource-dependant ,requiring two or more resources. This way it's all about safekeeping and acquiring resources ,just like in real life.More uniqe units.More specialised units.
UNIT UPGRADES are bought whenever you can afford them ,regardless of xp.
XP gives units a small strength or attribute bonus, not the massive 10%-25% of the original civ4.
CITIES are pre-set and pre-structured ,so that they can be devoted to the production of units, research and gold.Only minimum building options (for structures, wonders etc).
IMPROVEMENTS are extremely time consuming. Many types of fortification, radar and watch towers and even bridges(wide rivers are impassable without a bridge).Railroads are limited and pre-set too(can be destroyed and rebuilt).
ii)An extended gameplay mod should really add new eras, complete with new techs/units/buildings/stuff ,not merely stretch the same game eras to last longer.Adding too many resources/units/civics/techs may be interesting but unbalances the game. After all,why go to war over resources or luxuries if you have tons of them of your own?
iii)CIV: Call to power had several nice features like underwater cities and improvements, some interesting techs/units/ buildings(cyber democracy, the central matter decompiler wonder, slaver etc) that could be added to Sid's civ.
I apologise for the long post but i hope someone might make good use of these ideas.

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this. If you want to request a mod then I'd suggest posting in the General Creation & Customization forums.

This thread is about ideas+suggestions and that is exactly what my post is all about.Care to comment on my suggestions?Fine. If not,you don't really have to add anything, unless there's a posts competition with big prizes to win that i'm unaware of.

I just assumed, especialy saying that you are WANTING a MOD then you are requesting a MOD to be done for you, which is USUALY covered in the Creation & Customization thread.
