peter grimes Mar 17, 2006, 04:04 PM I really like the University! What a great way to encourage everyone to improve their skills...
Since the game is at least a couple of weeks from starting, now would be a good time to make sure that people have a strong understanding of Opening Strategies.
One other little point - since you didn't post in some of the threads of the Humanities Department that it's not ok to post in them, I'm assuming it is? I just want to make sure that you realize that the only thread you're currently trying to keep 'clean' is the History Thread.
gbno1fan Mar 17, 2006, 04:09 PM Thanks for pointing that out, Pete. I also don't want people posting in the University thread. I've changed it to reflect that.
Memphus Mar 17, 2006, 05:26 PM 1. Congradulations gbno1fan :yeah:
I will definetly  to that!!
2. University
Wow what great idea  I am still in shock of the possiblities
Memphus's prediction: Moderators catch wind of this and it end up expanding into something all the CivFanatics community can benefit from :goodjob:
But in the mean time shhhh lets develop our team!
At the minimum we will be come the topic of the UN again :king:
I can't wait to create a course :)
(Which means I better finish this GOTM so I can get crackin')
Kentharu Mar 17, 2006, 05:37 PM i can't wait to see what the university brings out cause i really suck at this game atm (no point being dishonest :p )
be careful of that watering hole thread though, it may lead to spamming! (by me!)
gbno1fan Apr 04, 2006, 11:28 AM :bump:
Is anyone interested in writing our first course for the university? I would like to see a quiz of 10-20 multiple choice / true-false questions for A Comprehensive Guide to Terrain, Improvements, Resources, and City Placement. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=144029). The course will be titled "Terrain & City Placement I"
If interested, post in this thread and I'll let you know what the next step is.
gbno1fan Apr 07, 2006, 04:09 PM Is anyone other than Memphis interested in writing any courses for the University?
It seems that the course we have completed thus far has had a very positive response, and I would love to see more written.
Memphus Apr 07, 2006, 04:42 PM I'll have another one ready for submission Wednesday afternoon :goodjob:
classical_hero Apr 08, 2006, 03:43 AM I can't play [dvi4] ATM.
Memphus Apr 08, 2006, 10:46 AM I can't play [civ4] ATM.
I know niether can gbno1fan, so that is why my next course won't require the ability to have the game :goodjob:
Memphus Jun 08, 2006, 10:15 PM Are we going to have a story of our First Millienia? :)
gbno1fan Jun 12, 2006, 08:34 AM I plan on putting together a summary of Term 1 soon (now that I'm finally on summer vacation!)
Unfortunately, there was a total lack of contribution to my Creativity Zone during the first term. I was hoping that we could all write something creative about our team. I'm not sure if I will continue to pursue this idea. Any thoughts about the future of the Creativity Zone?
Also, soon I will be working on the Epsilon University again. Is there anybody interested in writing a course? (Memphus I know you sent me a new course a while ago - I haven't forgotten).

Wish I was on summer vaction...but no instead I get a honeymoon.. :p
In any event there are some "creative" blurbs inserted in the various Domestic Offices (Such as when we discover a new tech)
lost_civantares Jun 12, 2006, 12:57 PM I will see what I can do on writing about our newly discovered Pottery (this isn't supposed to go out to other teams, right?) when I can dig up some time.

Now that the Civ3 MTDG is done... (yaay, for MIA!)
It might be worthwhile for those that didn't participate to take notes on how that game went. Civ4 is a very different game, but it's a lot of the same people playing this one... the human interaction in Civ3 MTDG could be… instructive… on what we might expect the other teams to do in the Civ4 MTDG.
And yes – this a shameless plug for the movies I made. At the least, it's an entertaining way to get the history of the Civ3 MTDG in less than 20 minutes.
Hope you enjoy! (and maybe learn!)

Memphus Oct 25, 2006, 06:17 PM Well without that Plug I never would have known!!!!
That was great...I can't wait to see what you do for this MTDG :goodjob:
Memphus Oct 25, 2006, 06:34 PM So does that mean now (I had no idea that many of you played on MIA) that more focus will be on this one?
And dare I ask...will other teams be gunning for us due to the past game
General_W Oct 25, 2006, 06:44 PM I certainly plan to have more time and attention to devote to this game… you'll notice I've changed my avatar
I don't think MIA's rep will carry over… Epsilon has enough different people, I think we'll be ok.
However – I don't expect teams to be as easy to manipulate – MIA burned most of the teams at one point or another when it suited us (and got burned back… all's fair in love and war!) so there may be a greater sense of realism about International Relations in this MTDG… but maybe not. Maybe there are still suckers out there that Epsilon can use to advance our cause!
P.S. I don't mean to suggest that MIA played a dirty game – we just talked about sunshine and happy puppies – meanwhile we played a ruthless game. People bought the warm/fuzzy image until they came face-to-face with MIA's steel will to win.
lost_civantares Oct 26, 2006, 08:13 PM Including poor TNT, all they wanted was a little more help, something more than, "yeah, good job, have fun killing your self, here's 25 gold" :p
Hmm, maybe Epsilon can occupy a more predominent place in my signature. :)
General_W Oct 27, 2006, 10:41 AM  - yeah - poor TNT - I (for one) actually felt really bad for you guys.
Now after reading the other forums and seeing how ruthless and deceptive the other teams were... I especially feel bad for what happened to you!
At least you became productive members of MIA - it was great having you and Greekguy around at the end!
:salute:
peter grimes Oct 28, 2006, 12:42 PM Based on the threads I've read in the KISS forum, I'd say that the teams here will be just as cunning, shrewd, perceptive, and devious as in the last game. What fun :)
The Pifflenatress will undoubtedly prove to be worthy opponents, allies, and trading partners. That said, we must watch our step. This is one thing that I'm learning from reading the old civ3 MTDG threads. I'm positive it will apply here.
gbno1fan Nov 30, 2006, 03:28 PM Announcements:
You will notice that I have updated our Department of History (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=163554) thread. I tried to follow a format that would be easy to understand for people looking to learn something from the actions we have taken. All of the information is taken from the numerous State of the Empire threads - it was a tedious task, but worth it. I have learned a lot about Civ4 by watching this team, and it has caused my learning curve to be extremely short once I purchased the game.
If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, etc. regarding the Department of History, please use this thread so we can keep the other one clean.
I have decided that this will be my last term as Provost. I will not be seeking re-election in order to pursue another post. I encourage anyone who is interested in running for Provost to PM or email me (gbno1fan AT gmail DOT com) to discuss the offices and things I have set up during my time as Provost. I hope to make a smooth transition and I still have a few visions about how I'd like some things to be, but have not been able to accomplish.
It has been a pleasure being Provost for our first 5 terms.
General_W Nov 30, 2006, 04:07 PM :wow:
Awesome work in that history thread!!!
I can't imagine who is going to maintain that though? Will you stay on top of it even after leaving the Provost spot for greener pastures?
Some of those (especially) will be tremendously useful for future reference.
Nice work!
:salute:
Memphus Nov 30, 2006, 06:56 PM Great Work on the History thread, one small nitpick (kinda like me always forgetting to update name  ) We popped writting I believe? Not sure of the turn :(
In any event are you going to give us insight into whose job is at risk? :(
gbno1fan Nov 30, 2006, 08:59 PM Glad you both like it!
@General - If the next Provost is willing, I will keep the History threads up to date as much as possible.
@Memphus - I'm not sure which office I'll seek, but I know I won't be running for President.
