I decided to write about my favorite conquest, Napoleonic Europe, and try to improve myself and get to Regent from Warlord.

The selection screen is pretty self-explanatory, so lets move on to the game.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/ViveLeFrance.jpg
Here's France at the start of the game. For those not familiar with the scenario, France is in a locked alliance with Denmark (gray country) and is at war permanently with the Netherlands, Kingdom of Naples, Portugal, and Britain.
I use my two leaders to make armies. I fill Napoleon's with Imperial Cavalry, and Davout's with Voltiguers(France's unique musket infantry)
I am running a deficit due to my large army, so I revolt to monarchy and...

Oh well, only a momentary setback.
My plan for now: I will send all of my artillery, along with my two armies, up to Amsterdam and capture that quickly, then send them down to the Kingdom of Naples and capture that.
Feedback is greatly appreciated!

I decide to research Code Civil, which improves my worker efficiency.
I continue to move my armies and cannons towards Amsterdam, and
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/Privateervs.jpg
attack a british privateer with one of my frigates.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/Frigatewins.jpg
The Frigate wins with one bar of health remaining, and earns a promotion. He returns to port to repair.
Game Plan: Continue my advance on Amsterdam, make more cannons and cavalry.

Great... somehow my tiny ally managed to get two nations to declare war on them. I want to, at this point, try to, once war is declared when denmark is invade, make peace with Prussia as fast as possible (I don't care about Sweden)

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/ForcesmoveintopositionoutsideAmster.jpg

The first of my forces reach Amsterdam.

Game Plan: Make peace with Prussia, maybe take one of their cities to convince them to do so, capture Amsterdam.

Frankfurt is a good city to get early in the game, it will provide a nice production bonus.

Nice!
BTW, what do you mean by "A British privateer"? How did you know it's British?

It's red probably.

Grear job! I've never really seen a walkthrough on a conquest! But this is really interesting!

It came out of Gibraltar, next to a stack of British ships( and most of the maps privateers are English).

The Ottomans and Neopolitans have signed a trade embargo against us!

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/WaronPrussia.jpg
So now the Franco-Prussian war starts! I will explain my battle plans later, but first, to deal with those upstart Dutch!
My cannon fires on Amsterdam, reducing one of the defenders to 2 bars of health. I attack the second defender who shows up with my cavalry army, and after killing him, the wounded one shows up again! I attack again and....

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/Amsterdamismine.jpg
The Dutch only have one city, so

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/GoodbyeNetherlands.jpg

Here is my battle plan for Prussia:

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/PrussianBattlePlan.jpg
I will capture the cities circled in red. Frankfurt will provide a strong production center, Hamburg will connect my empire with Denmark, and Hannover will be a perfect staging point for conquering Berlin.

September 1800

The first stage of my plan commences, with my Voltiguer army attacking Frankfurt

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/Voltiguerkillsonemusketunitgoldenag.jpg
He kills one musketman(losing around half his health), promotes one of his component units to veteran status, and starts a Golden Age!
Outside Amsterdam, A cuirasser (Prussian cavalry) lurks around suspicously

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/EvenBetterThanTheRealDonkeyman/Napoleonic%20Europe%20Regent%20Civ%203/ImperialCavalryarmyvsCuirasser.jpg
My army charges out, kills them, returns to Amsterdam, and fortifies for healing purposes.
I continue to move my cannons towards Frankfurt.
Game Plan: Bring cannons into position outside Frankfurt, and use my armies to capture it.

I would also try putting two or three cannons in Amsterdam and a voltegur (or however the heck you spell it) just for protection when your army leaves. You are automatically at war with Britain, right?

Donkeyman
Mar 19, 2006, 01:18 PM
Conquer_dude: I only have 4 cannons, but I will send a voltiguer up to Amsterdam to defend it once my army leaves. Britain rarely decides to invade my shores though, and if he does my cavalry army can get there very quickly.

Britan never really raided me when I was France, because the AI is probably too lazy to even put units in ships. But I guess you're right. But the Prussians are still there.

It looks very good. It looks like you ahve evreything under control.

Why are these people celebrating? Donkeyman found a backup file, and can continue the game from the point where he left off in his last update!

Actually, before I update again, my September 1800 turn is going to be slightly different, as this save has my voltiguer army on the other side of Frankfurt. I will update the September 1800 one tomorrow, and post the next turn.

Well, that's good news. But you're still having anarchy in the middle of your Golden Age. That's never "great" news (or is that a function of the scenario?)

Actually, in the new version of September the golden age hasn't been triggered. But in the original, I would have lost 1 turn to anarchy. That's not really "in the middle" of it.

Actually, in the new version of September the golden age hasn't been triggered. That sounds suspiciously close to revisionist history to me. Hmmm

no, i dont mean to revise it, but for some bizarre reason my army isn't where it used to be. But if you think i should, i can attack the city anyways.

Nah, just play the game. I'm just being silly because, as a history teacher I'm constantly having to be on the lookout for "revisionist" history (everything from Afrocentrists' bogus claims that Plato and Cleopatra were black to Mr Bush's repeated claim that Saddam Hussein wasn't allowing weapons inspectors into his country to holocaust deniers to a zillion JFK assassination conspiracies). So I made a little joke.

It's also funny to me because alternative "What-If" history speculations is a (admittedly nerdy) hobby of mine. So you were able to change history by traveling one turn into the past and altering the course of human events.

Now back to your story writing!
