I was going for a cultural victory and had been watching my dom limit for the last fifty or so turns. Izzy kept having cities revolt to me, but I just gifted them back to her. I was hovering around 70% during that entire time.

I had all my great artist set so that my culture cities hit the 150k on the same turn. Both the turn before victory and the one before that two of Izzy's cities went into disorder. The same two I'd been gifting her back for the past couple of centuries.

It was at this point I had stopped looking at the dom limit as I was only a couple turns away. The turn my capitol hit 150k I culture bombed all of my great artist and was successful at having my three cities above the 150k mark. I hit 'Enter' and get...

You have achieved a Domination Victory!

My 1292 culture victory became a 1292 domination victory...

Edit: I went ahead and submitted it anyway. Obviously I didn't even come within the top ten. Oh well, another lesson learned.

This has been happenning to me a lot, too. Secretly, I'm hopefully Dianthus in his shinning wizard armor would come to rescue me with his CRpMapStat for Civ4 or something that can help me to manage my border expansion better. Of course, that's just a dream and I don't expect it to happen any time soon.

From my understanding of the Civ4 HoF rules we cannot reload the save before domination like was allowed in Civ3 (or at least I think it was). I like the no reload rule, but man is it upsetting to see a domination victory.
