Unfortunately, I can't see it being any different from other railroad games.

Does Sid even work on all these new games?

Yes he does. He doesn't do as much as, say - Will Wright but he does have quite a big part in the creation of the games.

The series was started by Sid Meier himself. This is coming from the master...

I haven't ever played a Railroad game before, so this will be a new experience for me. Firaxis hasn't made a bad game yet, so I'm definitly getting it.

I hope they will not make this game as cartoonish as Civ3 was....

You will most likely enjoy it then. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't saying it will be a bad game.

I've played Railroad Tycoon + Deluxe, Transport Tycoon + Deluxe, Locomotion, Railroad Tycoon 2 and 3, plus Trainz Railroad Simulator, so this won't be anything new for me.
I won't rush and buy this game on the first day of release, but I will probably buy it when the price goes down a bit.

Don't worry, from what I've seen of the screenshots, its made with the good old Pirates/Civilization 4 graphics engine.

Forgive me for asking, but what exactly is Colonization? I understand it was one of Sid Meier's more appreciated classics but I don't know all that much about it.

I think that we can definitly expect Colonization 2 somewhere down the road because Firaxis seems to be in the mood of making remakes and sequels at present - and why not colonization? Its one of the games that people are always asking Sid for, so I guess he realizes there is quite a fan club for it.

I find it hard to get excited about a game with a title ending with an exclamation mark. Sure I quite like the Pirates! remake but this is just ridiculous :crazyeye:

I find that comment exceedingly interesting! I'll remember that.

Guys, check up on this thread and I'll tell you how good it is once I have it.

I spent a good chunk of my life with Transport Tycoon. I still think it was one of the best looking games ever, considering the technology that was available.

This in comparison looks a little too childish to me. I can almost see the eyes and smiles on the fronts of those engines.

But the little boy in me will be looking at this game as more details come out. I'm not to old yet to lay a few tracks ;).

Do not worry my friend, Colonization is a civ like game where your mission is to colonize America (or a random map populated by native americans) as one of four European powers, England, France, Spain or the Netherlands. Its graphics is somewhere between civ 1 and 2 i guess, but it has a really nice feeling when playing it. We have a subforum for the game even wich (sp?) i recommend you check out. :)

I loved the original Railroad Tycoon, but I didn't care that much for the other 2. I hope this is a simple game like the original one was.
