View Full Version : Fantasy Map (using Kael's FfH) (147x34)
Good Sauce Mar 28, 2006, 05:31 PM Hope you all like this one, it's a tad on the large size. 18 civs make up for it though. Once again created with BMP->WBS converter and MapView.
Please leave suggestions, praise, criticism etc.
It's a fantasy map, but I think it should look familiar :)

Fall From heaven version - 121426
azzacanth Mar 28, 2006, 07:20 PM watching this thread, so if I remember to load your map next game of ffh I play, I can let you know how it goes (assuming its not too big to run on my computer)
Junuxx Mar 28, 2006, 08:22 PM It's a fantasy map, but I think it should look familiar :)
Took a moment, but I love the idea :cool: :goodjob:
Love Mar 29, 2006, 09:26 AM Ahh this looks fine...
Good Sauce Mar 29, 2006, 04:44 PM I'm in the middle of a game on this map, and there are already some changes i'd like to make. mainly, i feel it needs more hills and plains areas. if anyone else has ideas they'd like to see please post them.
hope to have new version out by this time next week (poor college students dont have much free time :rolleyes: )
Drogear Apr 05, 2006, 12:33 AM This map is great with the fall of heaven mod! Only thing that I have a problem with is to find optimal city spots that make use of the most of the land. I’m pretty anal that way I know...
But I really don’t like it when the optimal city spots (Near a lot of resources, water ands more) are in location where I have to leave out good land that I cant use (Lets say I have a spot with use 3 grass plains with rivers but the rest of the land is plains, there is no real use building an extra city there just to get those 3 nice spots and the other good land parts on this area is already in another cities boarder)
Hm… Do I make sense?... I’m not sure my self, makes perfect sense when I play the game or make the resonemang work in my mind.
Love Apr 05, 2006, 01:28 AM Dont you think it would be better to have all leaders and just dont one
one thing, my favorite leader is xabu from the octupus overlords and he are not in this scenario so i have to enyoy it with sable from tigran clans!
Good Sauce Apr 05, 2006, 03:33 PM -> Drogear: I wanted to have a feel of some spots being very good for cities and other being only mediocre, also I wanted placement to have a large effect (ie. should i place this city in a position that is better for growth or production or commerce? because i cant do all three) however, after some play testing i admit there are some areas of the map that are just boring, which i hope to fix in the next version. which i will release... eventually... classes are hard right now, my guess would be next weekend.
to make the wait worth it, around the same time i'll have another FFH map ready, slightly smaller than this one, ready...hopefully...
->gahndi: i would love to have the choice of leaders, however it's not possible if i want to have fixed starting locations as opposed to ones the ai choses randomly. if im wrong and it is possible, please tell me how. i spent alot of time trying to figure out how to do it and finally gave up.
(switching the leaders is not difficult if you want to use xabu, simply open the map with notepad, scroll down to the players section [beginplayer endplayer] find all devour and change:
LeaderType=LEADER_ALL-DEVOURER
LeaderName=All-Devourer
to
LeaderType=LEADER_XABU
LeaderName=Xabu
same process for any other leader.
Love Apr 06, 2006, 06:26 AM my name is Gandhi not gahndi!
And otherwise i understand that!
Drogear Apr 06, 2006, 08:38 AM good to hear that you will realise a new version.
Btw at your sig I see a link to a medit map for sevos 2.3, the link seems to be wrong, where is that file?
Good Sauce Apr 06, 2006, 09:49 AM link is fixed, thanks for pointing it out.
Love Apr 06, 2006, 11:35 AM cant you make one with huge?
Good Sauce Apr 06, 2006, 12:21 PM cant you make one with huge?
what do you mean? you want a bigger map? its not big enough? jeeze.
too much bigger than this begins to become annoyingly slow in late ages. atleast on my computer and i have recomended or better stats.
Love Apr 06, 2006, 01:04 PM hmm...
that with huge its that its a globe and its something that happends to your naval units(i think its 1 exstra movement point)if you cirkelnavigate the globe, and i just like globe cause it seems more realistic!
Good Sauce Apr 06, 2006, 05:12 PM oh, you want the x to wrap. wouldnt really work for this map... but im sure ill make one eventually
Love Apr 07, 2006, 06:22 AM Thanks!.

azzacanth Apr 16, 2006, 10:58 PM Still haven't finished my one game, I guess Id ont play civ that often.
Are these maps compatible with 1.00 too? Can I just switch right over to play them when I finally finish?

yes, both my maps are compatible (i think, havent tested this one, but i dont see why not) just make sure you open them with a text editor first and change the modpath to 100 instead of 095
azzacanth Apr 17, 2006, 02:51 AM ok, cool, I'll give it a try.
Mad Mike Apr 29, 2006, 12:21 AM It is a pitty this map is not x wrap. but then again this map offers a different way to play,
and it is very enjoyable,very large map.
alluraprime May 17, 2006, 04:05 PM Alright, total noob question, where do I put the FfH maps?
Grev_michal May 18, 2006, 04:56 PM Alright, total noob question, where do I put the FfH maps?
just put it in the public maps folder. then load the ffh mod up. Select either play a scenario or custom scenario. There you just choose fantasyv03 and everything should be easy from there ;-)
Drogear May 22, 2006, 06:53 AM Will the FfH maps me converted to FfH II?
Drogear May 22, 2006, 08:56 AM Or the other FfH maps.
bigk89m Jun 10, 2006, 06:09 PM I really thought this map looked cool so i just played a regular game on it. However, i got to late game and recourses like coal and oil just never showed up. Did you purposely leave them out or should they be there?
strategyonly Jun 11, 2006, 02:04 PM Tried editing this map using Civ4 Editor and here is what i got?

sgrolly Dec 16, 2006, 12:41 AM Hi Guy's I dont say much I know but I realy want people to know that when it comes to this sort of thing I am realy kinda Ilit. But I want to give a big complement to everyone that I love all this FFH stuff and all the future sort of mods for example S Wars Sadley though I only have the original Civ IV so though I appreciate all the Warlords mods I would realy appreciate a couple more fantasy maps I prefere the large ones preferably 18 players or more because I do not like to be crowded out when I try to expand my civilizations so perhaps one or two more Maps for fall from Heaven II Preferable with Mts But not quite as much I like the temples and things of that caliber and obviously mana circles or what ever you all call thouse large colorful crystal like rocks that sort of look like stoneheinge maybe if you all are feeling up to it you could do two or more but I totaly understand you all get many request's so dont over do it if you do not want to. ;) :D :D :p :goodjob:

I thought it looked familiar (starship), do you have the H,t,f that i could get??:rolleyes:
Eddiit Jan 08, 2007, 09:33 PM A couple questions
1)Can I convince you to place startup positions for races? That way the prcs start in jungles and the other races start in their preferred terrain.
2)Can you make the map wrap around? Not having the map wrap around gives civs that start on land corners the advantage of having their backwater completley protected.
Overall the map is pretty damn good. I've been dying for a map to use on FFA and with a few changes this one will be perfect.
vulchor Apr 09, 2007, 12:59 AM Good Sauce, you mentioned you were gonna make an updated version? Lose interest? Just curious. I'm downloading the map right now. Been doin a bunch of Civ3 lately, just finally got back to Civ4 and couldn't wait to try to full version of FfH. Thanks for the work on the map man, let us know what's been happening.
peace
vivictius May 26, 2007, 07:55 PM I went and updated this one for 0.22, its probably a bit different since even the civilization names were different. I wiped all the existing civs, changed all the stone to marble then added 16 tribes (need 2 spots open for hyborium/basium). I'll try and figure out how to upload it and post it here in a bit. There might still be a few problems, Im testing it right now.
