Domination Victory!

[party] [dance] [party]

I've had an idea for a succession game, here are the details.

Map Size:Standard, with the default number of civs.
Difficulty:Warlord
All other settings:Random
All Victory Conditions enabled.

Other rules, these really shouldn't need to be said;):
No worker automation
No use of autosaves.
24 hrs to say you've got the game, 48 after that to post the save + summary.
You need v1.17f

Use of goto I don't mind, as long as whoever uses it tells the next player what unit, and where, is on goto.

I'd like to throw my name in the hat.

Notes:

- still a newbie Civ3 player
- working my way up in difficulty, Warlord should be fine, I'm in a SP Warlord game myself, and doing ok
- haven't played a large variety of different civs, so this should be interesting
- I don't automate workers or use autosaves
- the time constraints should be ok, I'm a student so the only precedence is homework, which shouldn't be too much of a problem, therefore I usually have enough time to play at least 20 short turns early on, and at least 5-10 when each turn takes somewhat longer
- yes, I have the 1.17f patch

Note that I am still a newbie to Civ3, and my Civ2 tactics don't work so well, however I am willing to learn new strategies.

Cheers!

After the initial turns, will the turn order be the same as the order we signed up?

Also, are all victory conditions and special units going to be enabled?

Oh, and what about the barbarians?

That's about it for now, I'm itching to get things started!

Also, are all victory conditions and special units going to be enabled?
I don't see why not those are the standard rules ;)
So again Im gonna guess yes.

Oh, and what about the barbarians?

If that spare space is available I'd like to take a shot at this.

I'm currently playing in Brian's Aztec succession game and have posted in the Japan open succession game a number of times, so I'm getting the hang of this now. I seem to have plenty of Civing time available, so I forsee no problems in keeping my turns.

I normally play Warlord or Regent. I have a preference for religious civs, but am happy with anything.

Actually I'm not from Arizona or Colorado. I was born and raised near London England :D

I've been in the US for nearly four years now, living in Phoenix Arizona until November last year. I totally adore the place and have a long term aim to move back there eventually. The move to Colorado was brought about due to the mass replacement of programmers with cheap offshore labour in India. This I guess is the latest management 'fad' at the moment and is happening at a frightening rate. I was one of the fortunate ones - my boss of several years landed a senior management position at a large company in Colorado, and I was one of the people he brought on board.

To keep this on topic... I'm looking forward to the game. :)

After many years of wandering, a nomadic peoples decided to settle down. Their leader was known as Chief Thrawn. :king: A lake was nearby, and there was wandering cattle. There were some hills nearby, and a mountain in the distance. These peoples didn't know what to call themselves, but settled on Iroquois, and founded the city of Salamanca. They soon discovered that fish was available from the nearby coast, but they would not be able to utilise it for quite some time. They also made the momentus decision to start counting down the years from 4000, and named this year 4000 BC, the BC standing for Before Custard. ;) The people of Salamance didn't know what custard was, but they were sure that it would be very important by the time they reached 0.

In the year 3950BC, a courageous man decided to scout the local area, to see what was out there. During this year, Thrawn directed his to mystics began research into a substance called 'bronze', and how it could be used to better defend their warriors.

Some hundred years later, in the year 3850BC, some disappointing news arrived from the mans descendants. There was a sizable desert to the north east. :(

Another 50 years later, Thrawn received more joyous news. A strange substance which smelled rather nice had been discovered near the other side of the desert. This substance had been named 'incense', because of its nice smelling properties. The people could not wait to receive the incense!

In the year 3750BC, a brave warrior finished his training and set out to explore the area to the south of Salamanca. Chief Thrawn began to look for more people willing to scout the local area. To the west had not been explored yet, and he wished to know more about these lands.

More wandering cattle is discovered to the south of Salamanca by the exploring warrior, and Thrawn knows it will be a good location for a city one day. One day. The people are not yet ready to expand.

In 3600BC, strange animals which can be hunted, but are not like the local cattle are discovered further south, and cold lands are found also.

50 years later, the second scouting party is formed, and they set out for the west. Another warrior begins his training.

The people discover that they may know catch the fish in the nearby coast! There is much rejoicing at having another source of food to feed the hungry populace! The scout to the east comes upon a strange village. He enters cautiously. The people there call themselves Incans, and teach our scout about Warrior Code.

Many years later, in 3350BC, after much exploring, the second warrior finishes his training, and he receives orders to wait in Salamanca, until enough people have been found to settle a new city.

Two more sources of the smelly substance known as incense are found to the north, another is found to the far east!

Many years after settling Salamanca, in 3150BC, the northern scout spots an orange border! Possibly the first contact with other people!

Before contact is made, our southern warrior comes upon a strange tribe(didn't get the name) in the year of 3100, who offer a gift of 25 gold. Our warrior accepts this gift with gratitude.

Also, red borders are spotted by the eastern scout, and we make contact with the Babylonians! They already know the art of using the substance known as bronze, but want to much(Pottery, Warrior Code, and 14 gold) before they will teach it to us. Chief Thrawn declines, knowing our own mystics are well on their way to making these discoveries themselves. He offers them a gift of 1 gold, but they are still cautious.

50 year later, the northern scout spots another strange tribe, who call themselves the Illinois. They teach him how to use letters, and call it an Alphabet.

1000 years after founding Salamanca, a new band of settlers forms, to go forth and expand the Iroquois empire! Chief Thrawns dying words were:"go north and settle near the incense and wheat near the strange orange borders, and take the warrior for protection".

Thrawn
Feb 18, 2002, 12:54 AM
And heres the save. Our starting position isn't too bad, theres quite a few grassland/shield squares, just a pity about the desert. :( Just keep expanding, grab the incense to the north with the settler/warrior pair, who have already started on their way. They are not on goto. As the next player will notice. ;)

The Iroquois aren't too bad a civ either, being expanionist, goody huts are nicer to us, and being religious means only 1 turn between govts and cheaper temples. :)

Also, I haven't seen any barbs at all in my exploring, so the random might have turned them off. hehe.

And how was that post? It was my first attempt at an in-character summary. Comments on it would be nice.

Good luck to Kefka!

Even before Thrawn was given a proper burial in the lake nearby Salamanca; Kefka assended to the throne and hearby announced his rein as leader of the Iroquois empire!
"This lake shall now be known as lake Thrawn!" Kefka stated during the burial of the first great leader.

In 2900 BC The frendly Incan tribe who lived just above the babalonians gave us there map, wine was spoted near as was another tribe's village.
Also we finnally made contact with the "Orange border" people, they called themself's the English. We hold the tec of Warrior code over them but they own one spice Nothing was accomplished at the first Iroquis-english meeting and they ended up just cautious of us.

In 2750 BC An english settler was spotted heading towards the Insence that we so desire  our scout now trys to slow them down before our settlers reach there.
In other news The village that was spotted to the north turned out to be Inhabited by the good people of the Apache they teach us the secrets of the wheel and some horses were discoverd near Salamanca.

In 2710 BC A green settler was discoverd near were the Apache roam we contact them and it turns out that they were part of the Persian empire.
The settler quickly takes us to there leader (whom I have not bothered to remember there name)and after many hours at the barganing table I got them to give us 10 gold and bronze working for the Alphabet :)
I Kefka accept the deal, we now have bronze working and have begain to search for the secrets of Iron working.
Kefka then begain to Inquire about there tec. masonry but they propley told us to leave, I guess we wont have masonry this turn :(

Many Spices were discoverd in the south but they may be hard to take as there is a lot of tundra and southen woods down there

In 2590 BC Our Settler has finnally arrived near the Incense and a city is quickly founded there the name is debated over a lot and Kefka finally decides to name it Kefkland ;)

25 gold was taken from some nameless tribe near persia.
Persia and Babloyn have two cities at this point.

In 2510 BC a road to horses near Salamanca was completed and the Iroquois people were happy as we could now create Chariots.

In 2470 BC Salamanca is no longer defensless as the first spearman army is created.

2350 BC was a great year for Kefka and his subjects as a settler was found from some tribe in the south,
and in the north the saxon tribe taught us the lost art of Masonry.
The settler in the south looks for a decent place to settle
And they find it in 2270 BC, as they founded Niagra Falls near two spices :)

In 2230 BC Salamanca Builds a settler and it begains the trek to the south for the extra beef which is now a main source of food for the Iroqois. :goodjob:

2190 BC Horrible news KEFKA WAS KILLED BY RAMPAGING HORSES IN AN ATTEMPT TO RIDE THEM
For unknown reasons Kefka thought it would be a great Idea to get on a horse and ride it. His ride was short as he was the first person to ever attempt to ride the beast.
It was going fine at first and many belived he had discoverd horseback riding but then without warning the beast reared up and threw the rider from his back, as Kefka attempted to excape the horse came down on him and with its hoof our leader's skull was crushed. :(
I guess horseback riding will have to wait, Kefka alone could not tame the beasts.
The people now await as a new leader is chosen.

I've always mistrusted the persians, and the english. The english grow like weeds, and as soon as Persia hits Iron working, they've got their Unique Unit.

I think we need to expand to cut off english from coming our way, and try blocking persia off somehow.

Too bad about the horseback riding thing :D

From what I've seen of the map, it could be pangaea. Which means we want the pyramids, sun tzus, and the hoover dam. They are excellent wonders for this type of map. Seeing as we have masonry, lets start the pyramids! :)

And we get our UU once we discover horseback riding. :D

In the glorious year of 2190 BC (or so the sooth sayers told me), I arose for the first time to the throne of the growing Iroquois empire.

In heirited turn (0) 2190 BC - The science rate was adjusted to 90%, the benefits of this was two extra turns to Iron Working while only losing 1 gold per turn from our coffers, in effect putting us at equilibrium. I also checked our diplomatic status, and we are doing well, we have all the tech we can get right now.

2150 BC (1) - Scouts and warriors encountered new lands, adding to our maps.

2110 BC (2) - Salamanca gathered enough resources to create a working force for us. The people wished to undertake a great project called "The Pyramids", which would act as a granary in all friendly cities on our continent, which would be vast.

2070 BC (3) - A working forc at Kefkland started a road that would bring incense to Kefkland! Soon I wished to connect roads to Salamanca and our southern colonies. Kefkland was interested in building a band of Spearmen for defence since the English are near. Also, a band of Settlers founded Grand River on a hill near other mining spots and a cattle area.

2030 BC (4) - Salamanca grows, and the turns for the Pyramids drop from an estimated 98 to 65! The Pyramids will become even quicker as the town continues to grow. I am pleased at the production levels Salamanca may once reach.

1990 BC (5) - Troops were once again moved around to reveal more.

1950 BC (6) - A warrior unit spots a barbarian! He is approaching Kefkland, and we are ready to defend. A mine is also started, and a warrior reaches Grand River to defend it.

1910 BC (7) - Our defence is successful! The barbarian has been defeated! As well, a road is finished to the incense! As a tribute to my duties, the people offer to expand the palace, and I do not hesitate to accept! As well, one of our brave scouts who travelled south and west came upon a small hut of the Cyrib tribe, these warriors offered us Mysticism, opening up another great project, the Oracle!

1870 BC (8) - Workers are trained in Niagara falls, and they will create mines and connect spices once they are able. Another mine is created, and the roads are starting to come together. We are victorious in the south over another barbarian!

1830 BC (9) - All was quiet as our workers continued to improve our lands, when our scouts realized that the English (or so they were called) had founded another town with they had called "York". They now have two cities, while we have five.

1790 BC (10) (Last turn of this round) - Grand River produced a working group who headed to the cattle area to increase its production. Our warrior in the South followed a trail to a barbarian camp, and cleared it out, pillaging 25 gold! It has been added to our coffers for future consideration.

And so ends my first reign, in the glorious year of 1790.

Notes:

- Iron Working has 4 turns left
- the Pyramids have 59 turns, but Salamanca will grow in population on the next turn, this should drop it close to 40 turns
- the road from Kefkland to Salamanca is almost finished, thereby increasing the range of the incense

For the next ruler:

- continue to settle, preferably go southwest, I have searched that area and it looks good for three reasons:
1) still close to capital, decent production
2) the land looks decent, good to grow
3) we want that land before england gets it, and then we will surround them on two sides, which will have military importance

The military importance is big since the English twons are close to us and if we talk them early enough we can turn them into good production as well without having to extend ourselves really far.

- continue to connect roads to Salamanca, then to Grand River, and eventually over to Niagara when we have the time

- continue to build the pyramids, then work on some military so we can back up any aggresive expansion by us or our neighbours

- as for science, we already have horses so it may be good to get our special unit early and start claiming our dominance

This is looking like a good game!!!

Good luck to the next ruler, and I can't wait to get back in the throne for me next batch of turns!

I already got an Idea of how my playing style differs from others but that makes the game so much more fun ;)

I guess Firestarter is our first leader who has not ended his rein in a death :goodjob:
I too feel we are on a pangea map and I guess barbarians are light If this is Indeed a Pangea map then (It could just be a big continent) we should get contacts with everyone very quickly once we can trade contacts, If thats a good or bad thing only history can tell.

Ok, i began a road from The North to The South :D I'll let someone else finish. Also started one to Niagra spices

Inherited Turn -1790
Didn't change a thing :D Good job firestarter

1750 - Turn 1
Began a road from Grand Rivers to Salamance, And one from finished the one from Salamance to Kefkland

1725 - turn 2
England has 3 cities... GRRR

1700 - Turn 3
Iron working! Started Horseback riding (Hehe..), We have Iron near Niagra Falls

1675-1650 - Turn 4 and 5
Nothing Much

1625 - Turn 6
Warrior From Kefkland sent to destroy Barbarian town to the north

1600 - Turn 7
Grand River completes its worker, Begins Temple

1575 - Turn 8
Movement, Worker movement + Improvements

1550 - Turn 9
We get Mathematics from A Goody hut!

1525 - Turn 10 - Final Turn

Kefkland Warrior destroys the barbarin menace! He becomes a Veteran and pillages 25 gold!

So, Steve, continuing the Road from The North To The South will net us 2 Luxuries total. There's a barbarian hut to the south of Grand Rivers - Watch your workers.

It's starting to look good. The English have three towns now, including Horses near Nottingham. I don't think they have iron though, so we may be able to get an edge there.

The road network is starting to come in, which is a good base for future improvements and expansion.

The pyramids are due in less than 30 turns, and Salamanca will decrease that further in three turns when it grows again.

To the next ruler(s): we need more cities! I think the best thing is to get as much of the land south of England as we possibly can! Getting land around Ur before it expands any farther would be great too.

Good job LordNocturne and good luck to the next ruler.

Stevos the Great has the game...

Arizona_Steve
Feb 20, 2002, 06:38 PM
After much confusion and chaos caused by the unannounced departure of Lord Nocturne, an unemployed farmer boy by the name of Steve crept into the Royal Palace, disguised as the departed Lord. Despite his English accent, none of the Royal Entourage noticed the difference, save one butler who 'disappeared' under unusual circumstances.

Stevos the Great, as he had begun to call himself, looked upon 'his' lands, and pondered his strategy. The voices in his head were telling him 'Build more cities'.

A decree is issued from the Palace. Thou shallt breed like the rabbit! And settlers are started at Niagra Falls and Kefkland. A lone scout wanders headlong into a barbarian warrior, who slays him. The loss of our scout will be avenged! Salamanca, not able to handle the breeding frenzy, goes into disorder. The worker teams there finish the last mines, as no more will see any use until the disorder is quelled and the population grows substantially. A large stack of workers is committed to the freeway project, joining New River to the rest of the trade network.

A screw-up in the worker allocation starves Salamanca down to 5. At least order is restored there. Kafkland is micromanaged to maximize production, at the expense of growth, to get that settler out faster (7 turns instead of 10).

The great sages tell us that they have learned the art of Horseback Riding. They are ordered to research a way of organizing our alphabet into words, that our learnings will eventually be written down and stored for posterity. Great River is attacked by two barbarian warriors. They fail miserably.

Word comes through that the New River freeway project has completed. The cuisine in our lands becomes a little less bland and a lot more spicy. A temple is completed at Grand River and a spearman is ordered, so that the warrior currently protecting the city can go to hunt down the barbarian camps.

More barbarians appear at Grand River. They are killed and our warrior receives a promotion to Veteran.

Kefkland announces that it's breeding program is a success, and a settler is sent out to create what will be a high production city North of the capital. A temple is begun.

Grand River completes a project to train it's citizens in the art of the Spear. A barracks is ordered, so that future spearmen will automatically have veteran status. The warrior guarding Great River is relieved, and wanders off in search of the Barbarian camp.

Our settler founds the city of Steveopolis on the coast North of our capital. With grasslands and hills within it's radius, it will be an awesome wonder production city once it's population grows. A temple is started there to expand the borders

Lizzie sends her envoy over from England demanding horsback riding. I might be English, but that doesn't stop me giving the pasty tart the brush-off. We found Irontown next to an iron source, which has already been connected to the road network in anticipation of this. We can finally start building a fearsome swordsman army and tell Lizzie where to shove her demands for tech.

Our warrior looks out from a hill and spies a Barbarian horseman. The dumb Barbarian attacks and gets cleaved in half. We figure out the art of words, and begin to figure out how to turn them into literature.

With out new-found knowledge of writing we create embassies with England, Babylon and the Aztecs. I have to laugh as England is 238 turns from completing the pyramids. We're only 5 turns away from them.

At this point the rumours of an imposter in the palace are running rampant, and Stevos the Great is dragged away by revolting peasants. Where he is dragged to, no-one knows. There are rumours that he may return to rule again one day...

(1) There is a worker stack with the warrior to the East of New River. The intent is to road out to the red spot at the bottom of the picture. A settler is being built at New River. Once we get a temple in there, we will have two gold, two more spices and another source of iron within the borders (!).

(2) I've marked other 'interesting' city sites with red spots.

(3) Our military is weak. I have Grand River building a barracks, once that is built, we should start cranking out military units (swordsmen) there.

also I did not expect TWO turns to go by since I last saw it
but great game :goodjob: my turns comming up soon ;)

Lets spread like Maggots on a old dead elk!

Sorry I haven't finished earlier, was a bit busy last night. But here it is.

Didn't change anything pre-turn.

975 & 950BC
-Movement

925BC
-The veteran warrior disperses a barbarian camp, we get 25 gold.

900BC
-Big year for the Iroquois. The people rejoice as Salamanca finishes The Pyramids! [dance] Others must truly see us as great seeing as we have completed such a massive project! Salamanca begins training a settler.
-Grand River builds a barracks, begins training a spearman.
-The English have started The Oracle.
-I sell Mathematics to the english and babylonians for a total of 90 gold. We are running a -1gpt deficit.

875BC
-Barb horse attacks Niagra Falls, it is defeated.

850BC
-We get 50g from the Carib tribe.

825BC
-Irontown builds a spearman, starts on a temple.
--Salamanca finishes training a settler, begins on another one.

800BC
-More movement.

775BC
-Kefkland builds a temple, construction begins on a barracks. Grand River finishes training a spearman, starts another.

750BC
-Salamanca completes its settler, starts training a spearman. Niagra Falls finishes its settler, begins a spearman. Steveopolis finishes a temple, begins a spearman.

730BC
-A barb horse attacks the spearman guarding a settler and the worker stack(which is building a road out to the west), and is defeated.

710BC
-Salamanca builds a spearman, starts training another.
-Chimaera is founded at the southern dot, near the spices and gold, begins a temple.

690BC
-More tedious movement.

670Bc
-Literature is discovered! Begin research into Code of Laws. Science is lowered to 80%, breaking even, due in 15 turns.
-Salamanca finishes a spearman, begins construction of a barracks. Grand River also builds a spearman, begins another.

650BC
-Allegheny is founded between a game and a wheat, begins a temple. Horses will also eventually be inside the city radius.

630BC
-The people want to build the Forbidden Palace! I haven't decided where to build this, but when we conquer the english, London could be a good place.
-The Persians are building the oracle.

610BC
-See 690BC.

590BC
-Salamanca finishes a barracks, begins training another settler. Steveopolis finishes a spearman, begins on a barracks.

570Bc
-A barbarian horseman kills 2 of our workers! Our people will have vengence! :rocket2:
-Grand River finishes its spearman, begins on a worker. Irontown finishes its temple, begins on a barracks.
-I pay a visit to england, noticing that a trade route may be open, and sell incense to them for Mapmaking a 1g.

550BC
-Cattaraugus founded out west, near cattle and wheat. It begins a temple.

Notes:
-Keep up the expansion, I managed to cut the english off from all the land between us the the babs/persians. But I watched the replay and found out that they've managed to get a city near the persians. So if we go to war, we'll want to get the persians into it as well. Or have troops over there of course, to deny the persians a city.
-Next research goal should be currency to help cure our money woes.
-Now that we have mapmaking, we should trade world maps. I didn't think about doing this on my turn, but oh well.

Good luck Kefka!

Kefka
Feb 23, 2002, 05:41 AM
As Kefka the second took the throne he survayed his land and put out a decree that it was not enough! "I want more Land and I want it quick" Kefka anounced before he dissapered in to his palace.

In 530 BC Kefkas plea was anwsered as Salamanca builds a settler elsewhere in Grand River a new worker begains his carrer under Kefkas leadership and settlers become the next thing for River to build.

By 490 BC all the Kindom had Known Kefkas decree and Irontown gains culture in an attempt to please there land hungry leader.
Chimeaera is attacted by two barbaric warriors but to no avail as our brave spearmen hold them off and gain Vetran status. :D

In 470 BC Salamanca has created the first mounted warrior to seek out and destroy the barbarians, Salamanca then begains to build a temple for the happiness of our people.
Niagra Falls on the other hand has just completed a temple and begains to build barracks.
And last but certainly not least Kefland produces Barracks and begains a wall to defend against the english or quite possibly the aztecs.

The year 450 BC will go down in history as a Code of Law is established in Iroquois and in september 31st of that year the first man to be tried in a court of law was sentenced to death for stealing one of the cheifs horse's
we now search for a way to easaly trade money for goods and create a common Currency.

In 410 BC Salamanca created a temple and begain construction of a great Library that will put all other librarys in the world to shame :goodjob:

In 390 BC a city by the name of Oil springs was founded and they begain work on a spearman.

350 BC; Grand river has assembled a team of many willing settler's to go forth and claim more land in our name.
also allegheny builds a temple and begains work on a courthouse.

Kefka was out behind the palace taking a leak when a stranger came up behind him and taped on his shoulder.
as Kefka swung around to see who it was he forgot to zip up or even stop pissing for that matter.
"WHAT THE... ITS ALL OVER MY LEG!"
Kefka realized he had just pissed on the leg of the persian leader Emperor Xerxes, "Oh **** I apologize lets not let this not hurt the relationship that our two civs have with eachother." Kefka quickly spurt out.
".......fine......fine"Xerxes begain to say as he was trying to shake his leg dry "I have Importaint matters to discuss with you perhaps we could....continue our talks inside after I have changed. "Certaintly" Kefka replied.
Kefka wondered for hours what Xerxes could have wanted so badly that he came all the way here but he knew that because of this mornings earlier Incident Xerxes had to be annoyed by now.

During the meeting Xerxes came out and bluntly said "we want literature" The boldness of Xerxes stunned Kefka who simply said "well what would I get? I hear you have philosophy."
"is that what it will take for lit?"
"yes"
"then let it be so we will teach you philosophy and you will teach us literature".
The excange was made :) and as a formallity maps were exchanged, we now had philosophy and an updated map, despite the earlier Incedent Xerxes left Politly.

In 350 BC Sevopolis produced barracs and begains work on settlers
In the east 25 gold was taken from a barbarian camp by our warrior.

290 BC, Kefkland now has a wall and begains to build a courthouse.
Some strange Aztec type Warriors wander into our land and I contact the Aztec's and tell them "to kindly remove their buttmuchess out from out my land" They agree

In 270 BC Irontown complete's a barrack and begains to build a harbor.
Allegheny's culture expands

In 250 BC Grand rivers culture expands yet again.
but that jag Warrior is still not leaving, he continues to stalk around Stevopiolis I contact the the Aztec's and tell them "Look your warriors have no buisness in my land! I asked you once don't make me ask you again remove thine form from off my land! Or else".
finnally the warrior leave's and he does a quick job of it too ;)

In 210 BC I find out why my sound is not working! I forgot to turn on the speakers  Oh wait that has nothing to do with this...
Grand River makes a settler and begins the Mighty Colossus
Stevopolis also builds a settler and begins a mounted Warrior.
also in the east our warrior snached 25 gold from barbarians and must rest as he was hurt in the attack.

190 BC Niagra Falls produces barracks and begins mounted warriers
Cattaraugus has created a temple and now works on a galley.
also the master at arms whips Stevopollis :whipped: to build the mounted warrior faster as our settler's and workers needs protection from barbarians in the north

In 170 BC Currency is learned! :goodjob: the next thing Kefka orders is polytheism
Steveopollis builds that mounted warrior and begain a marketplace.

150 BC the Mounted Warriors are too late to save the worker but they destroy the warrior responsible for the workers death and claim protection over the settlers.

on the night of december,28, 150 BC Kefka the second died peacfully in his sleep

Kefka
Feb 23, 2002, 05:47 AM
Some notes for the next player there are two active settlers one in south that can easily be seen and one in the north that is hidding behind our mounted warriors, I belive a barbarian encampment is up in that grass land so before you take it make sure the mounted warrior kills it  they got the worker that build some of the road up there already :(

Good stuff Kefka.:goodjob: Once the Great Library finishes, we should just drop science to zero. This way we'll stock up on cash, and gain techs from the other civs for free. :D I did this in my game, and I managed to stock up about 1500 gold before I got education.

You're up Firestarter.

Personally I think Luxarys should be Increased a bit.
cause Salamanca has already had riots before and they have two happy and two unhappy people at this point.
If it gains another person Salamanca may become In disorder. :crazyeyes

Really, this was a very quick and uneventful turn.

Inheirited turn: luxuries went up to 20%, Salamanca is really on the brink of more civil disorder, and we really need to get it happy again once it finishes the Great Library.

130 (1) - Troop movement.

110 (2) - Cultural expansion, troop movement.

90 (3) - More mining, troop movement.

70 (4) - Mauch Chunk founded near hills and more incense. A barbarian warrior attacks and loses in the south to a spearman. More cultural expansion.

50 (5) - More barb movement and troop movement.

30 (6) - Raided a barb camp for 25 gold.

10 (7) - The Babylonians start the Great Library. St. Regis is founded and starts on a temple. We may start seeing some cultural border wars soon with the English, etc.

30 AD (8) - Temples built, more troop movement. The palace expands due to temple creation.

50 AD (9) - There is a barbarian uprising near Chimaera, a second spearman is moved there as support. Elizabeth demands incense, instead I give her a deal that nets us some gold while not giving away too much. The English have construction. Alleghany gets a courthouse, and they now have decent production. The English and the Persians start the Great Library, while London completes the Oracle. We are close to England and could easily take possession of it in the future.

70 AD (10 - last of second round) - More troop movement. The Aztecs start the Great Library.

Notes:

- more military is a must
- expansion will start to be in the form of taking over other cities now
- we should be able to finish the Great Library first, we should then start getting more money
- we are researching Construction right now, but I suggest that the next leader switch to one of the open governments (we can research both monarchy and republic)
- when you switch research, either buy it off of the English or wait for the Great Library to kick in

That's it for now. Good luck to the next leader.

LordNocturne, you're up. When the Great Library finishes, set to 0% sci, and watch the money role in. You could even do this a few turns before it finishes. And get more military. imo we should begin a mil buildup with the goal of exterminating the english. Lets go to war! :D :rocket:

I must confess that I couldn't wait until somebody said this. I fully agree with everything Thrawn said.

When the Great Library finishes, set science to 0% and ride the tech wave until education. By then we should try to establish our spot as a dominant civilization so that we can go post-Education and take our own tech lead into the Industrial era (or whenever).

It's looking good! Corruption is starting to show, however, hopefully we can get to Monarchy... I suggest we go Monarchy for three reasons:

1) To reduce corruption
2) To be able to rush jobs by spending money (from the Great Library era) so that we don't have to kill off citizens, thereby helping happiness as well
3) To negate war weariness when we go to war with the English

If anyone disagrees, please tell me... remember, I'm here to learn as well as have fun, so I'd like to know if I'm doing things totally wrong.

Go LordNocturne Go! :goodjob:

I agree on switching to monarchy. Even though republic gives us more trade, we should get the great library, and we should start building up for war. So republic is just going to hurt us, with war weariness. Monarchy is the better choice, imho.

Once again Steve came from nowhere and was duly "elected" by the "people". On ascending the throne, he dubbed himself Steve-a-watha, Ruler of all the Iroquois lands.

Despite his ego, he was a benevolent ruler. He preferred not to use the whip, as happy subjects are harder working subjects. He did formulate a plan to move his empire forward.

(1) Most critical first. We MUST get the Great Library completed before anyone else. This achievement would allow us to reduce science to a bare minimum, relying on the other civilizations to do our research for us.

(2) Change our slow and inefficient government to a Monarchy.

(3) The English grunts foul our lands with their stench, and must be eliminated. We must build a mighty army to crush them.

And now, the summary...

Inherited Turn:
A program of city micromanagement is installed. Cities are checked for unhappiness and those that might need adjustment are monitored. As a result not one city goes into disorder during my 20 turns. Steve-a-watha is a little peturbed to hear that the unwashed Barbarians have plopped a stack of horsemen outside Tonawanda.

(1) 110AD
Our first galley sets off to explore around the coast. The first of the unwashed barbarians attack our first regular spearman, who is brought down to 1 hit point. The second regular spearman then procedes to impale the rest of the stack (about 8 units) on the end of his spear, and gets promoted all the way to elite. Irontown builds a harbor, and becomes a training base for mounted warriors. Maunch Chunk builds a worker and starts a Spearman.

(2) 130AD
(3) 150AD
(4) 170AD
Salamanca is about to grow to 11, and go into disorder. Elvis-a-watha is brought in to stave off disorder. A messenger appears, announcing the completion of the Great Library!!! A marketplace is ordered, to reward our hard-working labourers.

(5) 190AD
While the citizens celebrated their latest Great Wonder, Steve-a-watha attends to some infrastructure improvements. He is concerned that too much effort is being expended in less productive outer cities than in the more productive cities around the Capital. A number of anomalies need to be corrected, such as irrigated grasslands with shields. These need to be mined, along with some hills. A four worker stack is set up, to target improvements around our core cities. The Great Library proves it's worth, and we learn Construction and Monotheism, and get dragged screaming into the Middle Ages. A number of cities begin aquaducts to allow further growth. We hear that the Aztec city of Technochtitlan has built the Great Wall.

(6) 210AD
Steve-a-watha fires all scientists from the realm, now relying entirely upon the Great Library to provide advances. Well not entirely. Despite the 0% science, we go to Salamanca and turn Elvis-a-watha to Einstein-a-watha to research at 40 turns per advance. A number of courthouses are coming online now, and emphasis is shifted towards a mixed military, consisting of swordsmen (slow, but good all-round), spearmen (good defence, and UPGRADABLE), and mounted warriors (good attack, but need defender support).

(7) 230AD
2 barbarian galleys are spotted by our exploring galley. Both of them go glug glug glug to the bottom of the sea. Our galley is unscathed and becomes a veteran.

(8) 250AD
Our worker stack is assembled and begins improving our core cities.

(9) 260AD
Irontown cranks out another mounted warrior. Chimaera cranks out a barracks and begins a courthouse.

(10) 270AD
Maunch Chunk is connected to trade network by the lone worker that we built there. We now have a number of cities cranking out military.

(11) 280AD
Salamanca completes it's marketplace and starts a cathedral, in the hope of getting to size 12 and keeping everything orderly there. Kefkland is now cranking out spearmen.

(12) 290AD
We call on Xerxes, and he trades us contact with the Russians for 45 gold. His attitude changes from cautious to polite. Russia has no gold, and is two techs behind us. No-one else has anything to offer us. Hanurabi wants to show his if I show mine. I veto his request for an exchange of World Maps, but let him exchange territory maps.

(13) 300AD
Steveopolis on palace placeholder for Sistine. We need to mine round there to increase shields.

(14) 310AD
An English warrior is wandering around our lands. He looks lost, and appears to be headed towards his homeland. The Aztech city of Tlacaopan overthrows it's government and joins our empire. At the request of his girlfriend (and also because some of us can't cope with typing those Aztec names) Steve-a-watha renames it to TellyTubbyLand, and apologizes profusely to the people. Walls are ordered, as it borders our future battle-ground.

(15) 320AD
(16) 330AD
Salamanca completes it's cathedral, I reorganize the workers and move the scientist to Tonawanda, as it's at size 6 and cannot grow until it gets an aquaduct. Salamanca is used to crank out mounted warriors pending a new wonder. Kefkland takes a break from spearman production to get an aquaduct built, so it can expand further.

(17) 340AD
Irontown continues to crank out mounted warriors.

(18) 350AD
Our galley spots new and apparently unsettled land to the South. of Akkad (Babylon). We pick up Engineering from the Great Library.

(19) 360AD
Our galley continues to explore the new island. There is a goody hut there just wating to be popped. It'll be a while before we have a settler ready, however.

(20) 370AD
Steve-a-watha has enough time to micromanage a few cities before he is dragged away from the Royal Palace.

Here is the save, which I'll follow up with a few notes and some screenshots...

Arizona_Steve
Feb 26, 2002, 09:05 PM
In approximate descending order of importance...

(1) Palace placeholder at Steveopolis for Sistine. WE NEED TO MINE THOSE HILLS THERE. I have a 4 worker stack on the case.

(2) I have found a new island near Akkad. It's only small, but it appears to be uninhabited. There is a goody hut waiting to be popped, so go ahead, crank out a settler and colonize it. DON'T TRADE TERRITORY OR WORLD MAPS - we don't want everyone else and his dog settling there.

(3) I have started a troop build-up in preparation for war woth England. These troops are being stationed at Allegheny and Kefkland to allow a two front attack.

(4) We haven't yet got Monarchy or Republic from the GL. With only one turn of anarchy (religious attribute), we can flip between these two pretty much at will once we get them, so I would recommend making use of both.

(5) We are at zero science except for a scientist in Tonawanda. He needs to be put back to work though once the aquaduct is built there.

(6) Colossus due at Grand River in 3 turns.

And here is our empire...

370 AD) After many years of dispute over who will be the next leader Kefka the III finally took the throne and anounced his plans for the future in three words.
"NO MORE ENGLAND!"

(1) In 380 AD salamanca begains to build a settler and allagneny complete's his swordman and prepares mounted warriors.
Niagra Falls also Increases its culture rating

(2) In 390 AD Mauch chunk produces spearmen and starts construction on a temple

(3)as of 400 AD We have learned Monarchy! and one scientist searches for the secrets of Republic.
For one turn a few towns revolt as we switch to Monarchy. Kefka now proclam's himself the KING OF ALL THAT IS IROQUOIS! :king:

(4)410 AD, We have just learned the secrets of Repudblic and now our one scientist seaches for Feudalism
The Grand Colossus started by Kefka the II has now been completed in Grand River under the rule of Kefka the III.
It is anounced and celibrated that we have entered our Golden Age :goodjob: and as a result Kefka now masses his army's of Mounted Warriors near the border for first strike capabillity on the english, our Mounted Warriors are ready to take York and Canterbury the moment that war is declared.

(5)In 420 AD Niagra Falls completed the Aqueduct and now works to create more The Hanging Gardens
A Court House is Produced in Cattaucasus and St. Regis Complete's a Temple.
Kefka hopes to expand his Palace so he orders a grand Doorway to be constucted on the Palace.

(6) In 430 AD a small Babalonian City by the name of Uruk Realized how much better we are and Joins our great Nation!
Kefka now feels it is time to lean on the English so he contacts their Puny leader and demands that they remove there force of a settler acompined by a spearman out of our land! they agree but our demands are not yet over as I order England to give us contact with the Germans and the Zulu's they caved in quickly proving to me that England is now our biotch :sheep: JUMP ENGLAND JUMP!
Kefka establishes embassy's with Persia, Germany, Zululand, and with Russia! We now have contact with everyone we can have contact with.

We are Greeted by the Zulu people wo ask to trade their territory map for ours; Kefka agrees and sends Shaka on his way.
Germany came to us next and asked for an extange of World map's if we give them Enginering; I say to Germany "there are two things wrong with your request one is that we would not give YOU our world map and the second, what makes you think your worthy of enginering? NOW BEGONE!

(7)
440 AD The puny english settler's don't seem to want to leave so I contact the english once again and ask that "They remove thine form from off my land" and quoth the English "NEVERMORE". ;)
I then demanded that they give us there world map but they then told me "This is nothing less than Extortion and england does not give in to extortion" my reply was "OH YEA EXTORT THIS!"
KING KEFKA DECLARES WAR ON THE ENGLISH
I attack there settler's in my land for two worker, the settlers defence was nothing!
And for a loss of one mounted Warrior we take over YORK! and one settler that we own is fortified in Kefkland. The second wave of attacks came from the south and the first Mounted Warrior to arrive become's Elite by destroying the outer defenders of Canterbury.
A second Mounted Warrior Attacks Canterburry and Upon taking the town they too became Elite.
The Town of Canterburry was hearby renamed Bunny as our Mounted Warriors strode into their town :p
We hurried The Production of Walls in Telly Tubby land.
Kefka then Contacts the Aztec's to the north of England and asks them for an Alliance VS the English They say they would need Horse's and Incense for it and since we can's afford to have the Aztecs help the English we make the deal.
Next to take care of the English city near Persia I contact the Persians and give them 2 gold per turn and some Incense for an Alliance VS the English, they too agree :D

(8)450 AD; many mounted warriors are built in many place's and start toward's the front line.
Also Allegheny's Culture Expands and they begain a worker.

(9) In 460 AD Allegheny builds that worker and starts an Aqueduct, St. Regis's Culture Expands and with that so did my Palace :king:
Also Steveopolis changes to the Hanging Gardens as Niagra Falls changes to a Market place.
We now have 5 mounted Warrior's getting in to attack Formation of London.

(10)Salamanca begains a Library and the Resistance in Bunny Has Ended

(11) In 480 AD we begain the Attack on London It took three Mounted Warriors to take the City The first Fought hard and took out one defender, the second did not fare as well as our entire horde died trying to breach the Defence of London (he was Elite) But because of them The third wave Dominated and Over Wellmed their Spearmen and Took the City and the Oracle it contained :D )
A similler attack took place at Warwick but it failed Miserably at the loss of one Mounted Warrior.

(12)499 AD; The survivers of the Slaugter at Warwick reterned to the town of Telly Tubby land to regroup
Mauch Chunk Produced a temple and works on Barracks.
Also the persians build a city in the middle of the desert just to the north of Salamanca, I await the day that they flip to us.

(13) In 500 AD The Resistance in London has Ended and we took the English city of Nottingham with little force, Steveopolis switches to a Courthouse and Salamanca Continues the Hanging Gardens as they will complete it in 7 turns less and other civs are trying to build the Hanging Gardens too.

(14) In 510 AD We Captured Hasting and great leader was produced ,his name was Shenandoah, he has orders to move to london and rush the Forbidden palace there.
also London completes it's first Spearman for defence (It was rushed with money) and they start the Forbidden Palace.

(15)520 AD; The Leader Arrives in London and begains to rushes the Forbiddon Palace there.
Also Warwick was attacked again by us but this time we took over the City!

Upon Kefka's Visit to his newly conquered city of London his Carrage was ambused by a local faction group opposed to our Ownership of "English land".
The People of Iroquois seach for a new leader in this time of war.

First note: there is a warrior in the Galley to seach out the new land and hopefully find a settler
Second there is a settler fortified in Kefkland, I was going to use him In case some city needed to be razed but I razed no city's and that settler is still there waiting for someones command
Third note; we still have some turns (I don't remember how many) of Allianance VS the English, with the Aztects and the Persian's.
damn persia still hasnot done there job  they did not destroy the one english city that they need to
and we do have quite a large country and millitary compared to most others :D

[edit: oh **** after reading stevo's post again I realized that the palace being built was in prep for the Six. chap. ,but really nothing was built so If firestarter wan'ts he can change Stevopolis back to a palace now for no loss, just wanted to bring that to attention.

I now entrust our newly aquired lands to the next person :goodjob:

I reckon we should take 1 more city, or none, up to you Firestarter, then see what we can get from then. By this, I mean demand everything they have, including all the cities we can get. If they don't have much of value, or won't give this to us, then just destroy them. :D

Boy, this set of turns was fun.

Let's see... not a really long explanation here, got papers due.

Inheirited turn - I started out by checking what my options with the English were. Liz didn't want to cut a deal worth anything, so I just checked out her town list. She had seven towns left at this point, all poorly guarded and within striking distance.

(1) 530 AD - The Russians and Japanese start the Hanging Gardens, while we have seven turns left. It looks good. More culture expansion and troop movement.

(2) 540 - Capture Newcastle. Get a deal for excess Aztec luxury for a small lump sum.

(3) 550 - Get 50 gold from a minor tribe.

(4) 560 - We Love The Chief starts rolling in, and it continues throughout all my turns.

(5-7) 590 - Troop movement. 50 more gold from minor tribe.

(8) 600 - Other civs are looking at the Great Lighthouse. Not wanting to feel left out, I tell Allegheny to build it. We can probably get this one too. Capture Liverpool.

(9) 610 - Check Liz again, still no good deal.

(10-11) 630 - Iron source exhausted however a new one pops up on a hill near Salamanca which is already mined and roaded. Good break there. Capture Dover. Babylonians join in the war against England. Palace improvements.

It was here the English had two towns left, one of which contained a swordsman army, the other I could not locate. By the end of my turns I was able to defeat the army and capture that town, disperse a barb camp for 25 gold, make many cultural improvements (Temples, Libraries), build Harbors, and start Sun Tzu's Art of War in Salamanca (we should be able to finish it first as well).

Summary
------------

- 2 wonders currently being built (Lighthouse, Sun Tzu)
- English down to one town (not sure of location), pretty much everyone and her sister has declared war on them
- many towns captured (turned out to be five in the end
- lots of border expansion (Temples/Libraries)
- lost only one Mounted Warrior while earning a couple Elite ones and building about a dozen new units
- our Golden Age ended, however we still are in good shape
- still running 0% sci and 30% lux, Great Library earning our tech advances, about +50 gpt (down from 100 gpt, but still good)
- most towns are extremely happy due to the luxury rate and a deal for extra luxuries... the deal will expire soon however, so watch out

All in all, very very VERY productive turns! :goodjob:

Good stuff Firestarter! :goodjob: You're up Arizona_Steve.

What can we get from the english? Do they even have anything of value? Probably not. See what you can get out of them, if you can't get anything of value, don't make peace. If you can, and we aren't in any military alliances, then make peace. Someone else will be bound to destroy them.

We should also switch our cities to infrastructure about now. Consolidate our new lands, and decide who, or if, we should attack next.

Good luck steve!

Steve-a-watha II takes the throne again... :p

Inherited Turn:
I send a messenger to pay a visit to Elizabeth. They have absolutely nothing - no cities, no technology and no gold. They have been reduced to just their capitol, which I can't see on the World Map. Time to seek, locate and exterminate them. I look at the empire and see that... TELLYTUBBYLAND LIVES!!!

(1) 710AD
(2) 720AD
London finishes whatever it is building (I lose track of all the building by the Middle ages) and is switched to Palace Placeholder in preparation for Theology and the Sistine Chapel.

(3) 730AD
(4) 740AD
We lose our wines. I give Montezuma the brush-off as he demands an exhorbitant amount to renew the deal. Instead I trade Spices and 130 gold to Russia in exchange for Ivory. I look at the gold situation and rush a few temples in our far-flung lands to the North to lock our borders.

(5) 750AD
(6) 760AD
The grateful citizens of the Iroquois nation get together and give me a new floor to my palace. Nearly everyone building Sun Tzu's now.

(7) 770AD
Do some map trading to find out where the English are hiding. I question my own wisdom of spending 170 gold for the privilege, but I do find out where the last English city is. Unfortunately they're stuck on an island, and will be hard to get at. Our grateful citizens add a roof to my palace. No more soggy sheets on the Royal bed when it rains :)

(8) 780AD
Disperse some barbarians. Allegheny completes the Great Lighthouse. I get back to my palace to find that the damn workers have added an outhouse to the left of the main building. I order them to stop building and get back to what they should've been doing. Ergili overthrows their Persian oppressors and joins our empire. They should've known better, as the city is renamed to "Barney's World". A temple is ordered there so that the citizens can pray for deliverence from their embarrassment.

(9) 790AD
More barbarians dispersed. England and Babylon sign a peace treaty.

(10) 800AD
A mounted warrior pops a goody hut and out comes... a "skilled" pikeman :D This is the first time that I have witnessed the new goodies that appear from the huts in version 1.17. I kick some barbarian butt with more mounted warriors in the area :) Three barbarian horsemen also impale themselves on our new ex-goody-hut pikeman, promoting him from conscript to veteran. Infrastructurewise, a number of aquaducts are started in several size 6 cities where there is an excess of food, and therefore potential for further growth.

(11) 810AD
(12) 820AD
More barbarian killing :goodjob: I begin to increase the number of workers in the empire, as there is much jungle to clear. While I'm at it I send the empire into anarchy.

(13) 830AD
The Iroquois Republic is born. Our income doubles to +87 gold per turn. We find a dusty scroll in the Great Library, containing the secrets of Theology.

(14) 840AD
At least a dozen cities go into WLTKD as a result of the switch to Republic. London is switched to Sistine Chapel, but it will take 44 turns as things stand. Another barb camp is dispersed.

(15) 850AD
Micromanagement of London shaves 12 turns of Sistine :) More temples are rushed with our new-found wealth.

(16) 860AD
Zariqum (Babylonian) joins our empire. It's stuck in the Southern tundra, so is renamed to "Middle of Nowhere".

(17) 870AD
Another barbarian camp, another 25 gold. Aztecs and England sign a peace treaty.

(18) 880AD
Germans start Sistine Chapel.

(19) 890AD
(20) 900AD
Another barbarian camp, another 25 gold.

Notes:
(1) Sistine Chapel due London in 27 turns.
(2) Sun Tzu's due in Salamanca in 6 turns.
(3) I am sending worker groups North to clear our jungle. There are some workers around St Regis to connect Middle of Nowhere to the trade network.

Here's the save:

I'm sorry, but you'll have to take me off the roster for this game.

I just received my report card today, and I have an 80% average. Since my mom now feels that I should be getting 90% minimum, I've been cut off until I can do so, and considering that

(a) the next report card is in June
(b) I'm not smart enough to get 90%

I'll probably be gone a while, perhaps into the summer and through first year university (unless I can take up residence and find a way to pay for my own Internet access which is unlikely but still a possibility).

It was a fun game, though. Give those other backwards civs hell for me.

Here it is, I only played 10 turns. My, how our empire has grown! It must be at least twice the size of what it was last! :goodjob:

Pre-turn:
-Micro-manage London, shave 2 turns off sistine.
-Notice theres a warrior in Salamanca, I decide to leave it there for now.

910AD
-Found a mounted warrior in Steveopolis, I wake it up and send it out. Change the city from pikeman to workers.
-Do a round of trading:

Trade world maps with russia, the aztecs, and the germans
Sell our world map to the zulu for their world map and 30 gold
Buy gems from the persians for our world map and 350 gold.
Since we are in a republic, and suffer from war weariness, I get peace from the english for their world map, territory map, and 4 gold. It was all they had.

920AD
-

930AD
-The persians are building sistine.

940AD
-Steveopolis changes back to pikeman, after building 2 workers.

950AD
-Re-negotiate ivory for spices deal with the russians to ivory for our incense & spices.

960AD
-We build Sun Tzu's! [dance] Begin a courthouse. The persians and germans are now building sistines.
-Upgrade all our spears to pikes for 420 gold.

970AD
-Hit 'F' 21 times. :o

980AD
-Our librarians discover dusty old scrolls which teach our people the secrets of Invention! :D
-Niagra Falls is now on catapults.
-Steveopolis starts Leonardos Workshop, I then shave 32! turns off it, due in 43. This city now has no growth.

990AD
-The zulu are building leos.

1000AD
-Salamanca begins a worker, russia is building sistines.

Thats about it. Not much happened during my turn, but I did start a few courthouses. Next player may want to continue this. I didn't build any more military though. Save coming.

In the middle of the night, unknown by anyone a Voodoo lady sneaks into Kefka's grave and steals the magnificantly preserved 4 thousand year old body.
The Voodoo lady went by the name of Terra. Terra was just an apprentace Voodist and to prove that she was Voodoo matterial she performed a "Wake the dead" spell on the Lifeless corspe.
As Terra chanted the bones begain to rise :skull: hey oh ha ya hey oh ha ya!
just then as Kefka the first begain to regain consisness he looked at this young woman chanting! Terra realized that he was alive and approched the hidious skelleton only to be Killed and sucked dry of blood and have her skin ripped off, Kefka used her skin and organs to patch his body.
Kefka then went to the palace and took control of the people of Iroqouis since nothing seemed to be able to destroy him. :rocket:
kefka ran out the previous leader and now a rotting undead maggot filled skelleton rules the country,

1000 A.D, thats the time of Kefka's return as he looks at his amazing land he realize's one thing thats odd, so he corrects it as he downgrades the city of Irontown to Hilltown.

The Aztec's and the persians sign a millitary alliance against the english

(1) 1010 A.D. not much happens exept for the kingdom adjusting to there new strange leader.

(2) In 1020 AD Kefka orders many courthouses to be rush build in the Western Jungles.

(3) In 1030 AD Messengar arrives bearing a letter that letter states that "The Rampaging Persian forces have destroyed the english"

(4) In 1040 AD The city of Ergill likes the Idea of being led by a skelleton so much that they join the country. We welcome this new city

(5) and (6) only building and other non Importaint stuff.

(7) In 1070 AD another city joins us this city is Eridu. we welcome them too :goodjob:
Kefka the Rotten (as he became known ;) ) contacted the Zulu's as he wanted some fur to cover up his Rotting body.
Fur was traded with us from Zululand for some Incense and spice

turns (10) to (12) ,see turns 5 and 6

(13) In 1130 AD The germans contact us and ask for a trade of Territory maps, Kefka the Rotten agrees

(14) On may 17th 1140 AD London completes the Sistince Chapel!

(15) to (16) see turns 10 to 12

on turn (17) in 1170 AD We lost our supply of Ivory

(18) In the year of 1180 AD we master gunpowder and find three source's of Saltpeter in the Iroqouis borders one of which already roaded :skull:
that year we not only got Saltpeter but a road was finished that brought Dye to our citys :goodjob:
And as an attemt to gain some Wine in our citys the the town of FineWine was established in the barbaric south and a Spearman was rushed there.

(19) In 1190 AD The Spearman in the town of FineWine compleated the Spearman and a Harbor was rushed there!

(20)Another town by the name of Cempoala joins us
also in the Town of FineWine the Harbor is finished and a Mounted Warrior is rushed there.

One day as Kefka the Rotten was talking to his advisors his bones begain to crumble and turn to ash. :suicide:
"NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo........" Kefka screams out as he falls in to a pile of ash on the royal palace rug.
The "Wake the Dead" spells only last for 200 years ;)
As the advisors stare they realize the country is now free to choose its own leader again.
:skull:

The Reign of Kefka the Rotten was over!

Arizona_Steve
Mar 10, 2002, 09:07 PM
Random landmass
Random landform (pangea, continents, apell-whatever-it-is).
Random temperature
Random rainfall
Random world age
Random barbarians
Random AI civilizations
Random civilization selected for the human player.

The only thing that isn't random is the size of the world.

I think that sums it up :)

Pre-turn
Since a war just completed, time for a infastruce break.
We have way to many regular troops. Time for some replacements with vets.

1210 AD - Russia demands dyes, I tell her to shove it.
1220 AD - Frag a barb camp.
1255 AD - :( Education for free - The Great Library is toasted
1260 AD - Frag another barb camp, almost the same spot as the 1220 AD one.
1270 AD - Frag barb camp, yet again.
1275 AD - We loses our deal with Zulu. The new price is absurd, so I pass.
1280 AD - I start Irrigation by Oxford - the city can grow again.
Chivalry discovered. Researching banking. I love Smith's.

Summary - I added to the worker force.
Disbanded many regular pikeman. Build veteran muskets.
Once Leo's is going, start upgrading our veteran pikeman.

These turns were so quiet that I had to resist the urge to start a war out of sheer boredom :)

Inherited Turn - 1300AD:
Teayo (Aztec) overthrows it's oppressors and joins our glorious empire. Renamed to Jungleville. We even get a barracks and a granary thrown in.

(1) 1305AD
Alarmed at the roads through the jungles. It's significantly more efficient to clear the jungle THEN build the road.

(2) 1310AD
Rush the temple in FineWine. I want to get a harbor going there to bring the wines online. Oops. It already has a harbor. Library started instead.
Steveopolis completes Leonardo's Workshop. Time for some troop upgrades.

(3) 1315AD
Starting Universities in many cities which are running out of improvements.
Drop luxuries to 10% and science down to 20%. Banking in 1 turn, and 155 gold.
Wonder why it is that every time I fortify a musketman, they make that grunting noise. As if they're in pain or something.
We get banking. Start Astronomy. Due in 5 turns at 40%. I start a bank in Salamanca, but will change it to Copernicus.

(4) 1320AD
I catch a courthouse being built in Barney's World, where there is no corruption. I change it to a marketplace.
Swap territory maps with Montezuma.

(5) 1325AD
Upgrade 17 pikemen to Musketmen.

(6) 1330AD
Fortify musketmen. Lots of grunting ensues.
Turn science down to 10% for 2 turns. No change in arrival of Astronomy, but it pays for the troop upgrades.

(7) 1335AD
Astronomy learned. Chemistry started. 5 turns @ 30% science.

(8) 1340AD
Barbarian camp dispersed. Another 25 gold.
Salamanca switched to Copernicus' Observatory. Due in 13 turns.

(9) 1345AD
(10) 1350AD
(11) 1355AD
Take full advantage of the AI's ability to irrigate anywhere, and irrigate our lands from a square they irrigated just inside their borders.
Chemistry learned. Beelining to Theory of Gravity to try to get Newton's in the same city as Copernicus (Salamanca). Physics selected. 6 turns @ 40%

(12) 1360AD
Palace expanded.

(13) 1365AD
(14) 1370AD
(15) 1375AD
(16) 1380AD
(17) 1385AD
Physics learned. I go for Metallurgy as Copernicus has not been built yet. Science up to 50% at a loss of 26 gold per turn. We get it in 4 turns.
The Babylonians start Copernicus.

(18) 1390AD
(19) 1395AD
(20) 1400AD

Copernicus is due in Salamanca in 1 turn. Try to build Newton's there as well.
Metallurgy in 2 turns. Running a deficit though.

After the rather unfortunate death of President Steve-a-watha III, the people of the Iroquois Nation elect a new president. Under much controversy, President Thrawn is elected, by a landside 1 million to 1 vote. The other hopeful was a sheep. :sheep: The new president was a distant relation of Chief Thrawn, the mighty chief who began the road to glory.

Early in his reign, the capital of Salamanca finished Copernicus Observatory! [dance]

The presidents first military order was to upgrade all Mounted Warriors to Knights, for the cost of 440 gold. The soldiers rejoice! He then orders the troops to begin massing on the Aztec borders, for what reason, no-one knows. :satan:

An emissary to the persians is sent, and they are sold dyes and incense for their gems, world map, and the secret of Metallurgy. The scientists begin research on Theory of Gravity earlier than they thought.

The people celebrate over the purchase of Russian Ivory for Dyes, Spices, and 300 gold. Some consider it expensive, but soon forget their doubts when they see the fine quality of ivory.

The year 1425 was a turbulent one for the Iroquois nation. And all because of those Zulus. Partway through the year, an emissary arrived, with a sealed parchment. The emissary never left alive. [phaser] The sealed parchment contained a declaration of war.

Immediately afterwards, emissaries were sent to the Germans, Persians, and Russians. The Germans were given access to our wines for an alliance against the zulu, the Persians were given Iron, and the Russians received Incense and 150 gold. The evil zulu nation shall know the strength of Iroquois wealth! :mwaha:

During the same year, 1425, the Theory of Gravity was discovered. Scientists oohed and aahhed over this discovery. Research on Economics was ordered.

The people are demanding Wall Street be constructed! President Thrawn knows not what they are talking about, but decides he should build it soon, to prevent an uprising.

The President decides to sell the secrets of Physics to the world. Unfortunately, most of them are broke. The evil zulus were ignored, and did not get a chance to bid for physics. The persians gave us the secrets of Navigation and Music Theory, plus their world map, 2 gold per turn, and a lump sum of 40 gold. The russians paid their entire treasury! The president was very excited by this, and dreamt of swimming in pile of gold! Then he found out how much they had. Only 58 gold. The president went into a depression, and his advisors did not think he had long to live. :(

1435 was considered one of the presidents better years, during his depression. He ordered the construction of a great cathedral, to be built in the old capitol of England. It was to be called JS Bachs Cathedral. After an old man living under a box in Salamanca.

5 years later, the President ordered construction of a special university in his home of Salamanca. It was to be named Newtons University. After the presidents ex-wife.

A few years before the presidents death, the secret of Economics was discovered, the president ordered research into developing a new way of printing and ordered that Steveopolis begin construction of a building to pay for many things. It would be named Adam Smiths Trading Company, after the first man to establish trading relations with another nation. (Actually, this man was called Joe Bloggs, but no-one could remember what his name was, so they made one up. )

The year 1450 was a sad year. The president died of depression in his bed. His last words were: "damn russians, they should of had a bigger treasury".

The voting for a new president continues........

Heres the save. I have shifted some troops towards the zulu cities on our continent, and there is also a swordsman near a zulu city, he was the lone warrior on the galley, which is now a caravel. Nice to see that our troops are now mostly vets. :goodjob: You're up Kefka, good luck!

ok Who pissed of the Zulu's?
I know I pissed ON the persians but I never pissed off the Zulu's. ;)
Ohwell Death to Zulu!
ok I will also see if I can bring some other enemys online Vs. the Zulu's before the Zulu's start VS.ing against us.

(0) And that President voted in was Kefka the IV, He won the popular support of the people by promising to "rid the continent of the Zulu Threat!"

Not much happened in 1455 AD, as that was the year the people adjusted to Kefkas rule.

1460 AD was the year that the first strike was carried out on the Zulus, the city that was attacked the southern city of New Hlobana, it was totally destroyed!

In 1465 AD We got a right of Passage treaty with the germans
then Persia contacts us and for the low price of 9 gold per turn and 50 gold down payment, we trade Economics to them.
We also learn Magnetism from our very smart Scientists.

1470 AD, York begin contruction of Wall Street.
On the Zulu Front we capture the City of Isipezi and that horrible name is changed to Zulusrweak :p
after that we got in posision to take over New Zimbabwe

(5) In 1475 AD we attack New Zimbabwe and after two waves we take over the city, capture one worker in there and rename the city Gig

1480 AD, Great news for us! The Zulus have taken over the city of New Berlin! so now we can take that city too without having to make war with the Germans

The Aztecs and the Zulus sign a Military Alliance Vs. the Persians, we now may experience a lot of fighting bettween Persia and the Aztecs right in our home land.

In 1485 We learn the secrets of Magnetism and now search for the secrets of Nationalism.
We have entered a new age in our Development!
The great Lighthouse becomes obsolete and Allegheny Begains Magellans Voyage (which is realy strange cause of huge lakefront location which they could not possibly sail around the world in ;) )
Gig Riots and Kefkas Palace expands.
The war effort is going great as we take the city of New Bapedi and rename it MorIroqoisland.

In 1490 the city of Centrala was build on the old site of the southern Zulu city.
A Vetren Knight becomes Elite as we take over the Zulu city of New Berlin.
and with that; Kefka's promise to rid our Grand Continent of the evil Zulus was accomplished.
but we still have seven turns of war due to Alliancess Vs. the Zulus

In 1495 AD all the Catapults in the land were thrown out and replaced by Cannons.

(10) 1500 AD; Nuts n honey ;)

The persian and the Aztecs armys have met and begain there big battle near Warwick.

1505 AD; again Nuts n honey

Bettween turns the Aztecs request and audiance with us and he wants printing press for a trade of world maps.
I say "thats the worst deal I have ever heard! NO

In 1510 AD we learn Nationalism and search for the secrets of Democracy.

We then were told that we had lost our supply of Gems :(
but we got them back by giving them Dyes, Incence and Printing press
they gave us Gems 6 gold (per turn) and 17 gold down payment

In 1515 Nearly all of our gold was spent on upgrading our defence of Musketmen to Riflemen.

we then lost our supply of Ivory, it stayed lost
We hear that the two nations of Germany and Zululand have signed a peace treaty.

1520 AD; People Dance in the street of Salamanca as the Newton's University is completed there.
our country now has a higher standard of education than eveyother civ around :goodjob:

(15) 1525 AD; Nuts n honey

The Aztecs and the Zulus sign a trade embargo with us :( Kefka becomes worried about the possible threat of Aztecs who are already in our land fighting the Persians near Warwick.

In 1530 AD Democracy was learned by the great Iroqois people we now search the jungle's for Medicine.
I figure now would be a great time to Improve relations with everybody so I first contact the Persian and the Russians and end the Alliance Vs the Zulus with them, but I also Renew both of our peace treatys.
I then Contact the Zulus and sign a peace treaty ending this so called war with them. (really it was more of a slauter as we lost no units, no citys, and wiped them off our continent and never saw them again after.
Next I contact the Aztecs and Renew our peace treaty with them.

By 1535 Kefka feels that our borders are now safe enough to begain a Revolution cause "I know its gonna be alright"

In 1540 The Irouqois empire has become the very first Democracy on this planet :goodjob:

The Zulus request an audience and they want an Alliance with us Vs the Russians and a Right of Passage Treaty.
I accept only the Right of Passage Treaty in an attempt to Improve relations with the Zulu people.
we Just got word that the Germans have begun to build the Smiths Trading Company, we are now in a race with them!

1545; Nuts n honey

(20) 1550; Kefka the seventh's term was up and now an election is being held.

Good stuff Kefka! :goodjob: You're up lkendter.

I say we build for war with the aztecs, and aim for cavalry. If we seal off that end of the continent, then we'll have less borders to worry about. Later we could capture all other cities on the continent, and then our cities would be very safe from attack.

Wow you are quite a Warmonger  I like it :goodjob:
WE STAND TO STRIDE THE WORLD LIKE A COLOSSUS NOBLE LEADER!
we have a millitarty that puts every other country to shame
exept for the persians :( they are up with us in millitary power. (well at least unit wise)
GIVE ME MORE UNITS NOBLE LEADER SO THAT THEY MAY SHEATH THEIR SWORDS IN TO THE BEATING HEARTS OF OUR ENEMYS!

The war with England put us on top but I belive a war with the Aztecs will Keep us on top ;)
so I concur with Thawn about building up for War with the Aztecs.

Not really. I don't usually declare war much in my sp games. Only usually when I see a good opportunity to increase my power. :D Like now. Decreasing the number of borders we have to worry about. I've done a tactic like this b4, with great success. :D

I miss the advisors comments too. :(

Pre-turn
ARGGGGGGGG - Medicine / nationalism before rails????????
Well I can tell you guys play way different then me.
The Human advantage really kicks in during the Industrial age - getting a jump on rails / factories.

Sell Persia Democracy - makes us money.

1555 AD - New Castle has to much food, so change Irragation to mines.
Drop science 10% to get the 1 turn cash boost.
Persia and Aztecs sign a peace treaty :(
1570 AD - The bizzare looking palace expands.
1580 AD - Wall street completed, and we got up to $1000 :)
1585 AD - Russia and Zulu sign a peace treaty.
Start researching factories.
[dance] Our people want to build the Iron works - coal has to be within our borders.
[party] The city is Hasting, a LOW corruption city
Switch to it NOW - once starting, you can't get screwed if the resources go away.
1590 AD - I am finally working on railroad....
More good news - we get bach's.
The worlds is building smith's
1605 AD - Germany and Persia ally vs. Zululand.
1610 AD - Medicine to Perisa for Military Tradition, $32/t.
1615 AD - Upgrade some knights to Calvary.
Price of Gems goes up a lot.
Research electricity, heading for ToE.
1625 AD - One turn late, but the big switch to factory begins.
Zulu and Persia sign a peace treaty.
1630 AD - Zululand / Aztecs end trade embargo against us - I hadn't noticed.
1640 AD - [dance] We get Smith's.
1645 AD - [dance] We get Magellans. No cascade?
1650 AD - Up next - scientific method.
Salamance begins Suffrage - 15 turn eta.
Iron Works completed - factory is six turns.

Summary -
1 - Head for ToE.
2 - Keep working on the Railroad.

We built the Iron Works?! Woohoo! [party] I think I've only ever had this once. :goodjob: Now that we have mil tradition, lets build up for war with the aztecs. We should get rails built right up to the border, and have workers on standby so we can build rails up to captured cities, to reinforce them faster. :)

And I think I usually go for rails first. Arizona_Steve, you're up! Good luck!

Agree with Lee's sentiments with regard to Medicine - I normally go for Steam Power before Nationalism, unless I feel the need for riflemen to defend my cities. Medicine and Sanitation are lowest on my list, often bypassed in favour of Scientific Method (and Theory of Evolution) to get the tech lead.

Inherited Turn - 1655AD
Somebody sure likes building factories. Some of them are in hopelessly corrupt places, but I will rush them when the cost is not extortionate.
I trust Lee's judgements regarding city micromanagement, and save myself some time.
Warwick builds factory, starts cathedral. Let's get some WLTK days going!!

(1) 1660AD
All turns involved movement of workers, so I won't mention it any more.

(2) 1665AD
Aztecs are gathering on our borders. Could this be a sneak attack? If they move into our lands, I'll see if I can get any tech off them for gold-per-turn deals, which will expire immediately if they declare war.

(3) 1670AD
Aztecs remain within their borders. This persists for the rest of my turns.
Newcastle completes factory, starts University.
Get scientific method in 1 turn @ 30%. Net 400 gold.
Damn! No palace placeholder for Theory of Evolution.

(4) 1675AD
Scientific Method completes. I figure I can get Replacable Parts in before Theory of Evolution, so start researching that. Start Theory of Evolution in London - due in 15 turns. It's size 12 so micromanage for maximum production, now at 41 shields. This will increase as I order railroads in every square worked there.

(5) 1680AD
Run science at 70% to get replaceable parts in 5. Deficit of 33 gold per turn, but we have nearly 4,000 in the treasury.

(6) 1685AD
Babylonians start Shakespeare's Theater. Aren't they a bit behind the times?

(7) 1690AD
London railroading project completed. Now cranking 49 shields per turn. 1 turn shaved off Theory of Evolution.

(8) 1695AD
Steveopolis now cranking out 52 shields per turn with the factory completed.

(9) 1700AD
York has a minor overirrigation problem? huh?
Drop science to 50% for 1 turn to save money on Replacable parts.
Zulu's tell us we're IGNORANT when we're two techs ahead! They want a territory map exchange. I accept, as they're far away and if they do decide to declare war, they'll have to trapse through Germany to get to us.
We get Replacable Parts, start the Corporation, which will complete before Theory of Evolution comes online.
Hmm... Now the Aztecs are starting Shakespeare's :smoke:

(10) 1705AD
I love workers on speed and steroids :)
Begin building infantry and artillery as some cities complete their infrastructure projects. If there's still infrastructure to be built, it takes precedence over military.
Upgrade 50 riflemen to infantry
Upgrade 6 cannon to artillery.

(11) 1710AD
A confusing interchange of pressing "F" and SHIFT+"R" multiple times, while trying not to fortify my workers or force my infantry into railroad building.
Zululand and Germany sign a peace treaty. I had no idea they were at war.

(12) 1715AD
I hurry a whole bunch of courthouses. Need to get some borders sealed in our outlying cities.
Only just noticed the insane production of Hastings, now that it's factory completed on this turn. 68 shields per turn. It has a river within it's boundaries. Easy decision - Palace placeholder for Hoover started.
I laugh as the Persians and the Russians get on the Shakespeare bandwagon. The Persians also start Universal Sufferage while they're at it. Thankfully, Universal Sufferage is only 2 turns away for us.

(13) 1720AD
Drop science to 50%, still get the Corporation in 1 turn.
Corporation is learned. Switch to Atomic Theory at 0% science as Theory of Evolution is due in 4 turns.
Lots of factories come online. Most cities have no infrastructure to build, so are cranking out Infantry and Artillery.

(14) 1725AD
One citizen in Newcastle is changed to a scientist.
Hmm... Persians must've switched from Shakespeare's to Universal Sufferage. Now they switch back again. Indecisive AI.
