This religious war game was on a huge Pangea with 18 civs. I'm China.

China gets settled near the middle next to an inland sea. Soon it expnads to become one of the grander nations. While no nation is very powerful, China is fairly decent. Soon I'm the leading tech leader. I race to Islam and found it. Soon I put all 5 cities to mass-producing missionaries. After nearly 1000 years, 13 out of 18 civs are Islamic. The remaining civs will be dealt with.

Now to introduce the Heathens. Isabel leads the Hindus, Japan and Inca. Isabel is comparable to me and the others are far weaker. Montezuma is the sole Confucian. He's weak and arrogant. Ghandi is the sole Buddhist. Blast him, he's very powerful. (Later on Ghengis becomes Christian).

Thankfully my followers hold heathens in low regard and are happy to fight. So first I ally with Ghandi. Yes, he is a heathen, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices. Soon Ghandi, Ghengis, and Alexander destroy Montezuma and one evil religion. I barely come in enough time to take the holy city. Of course I destroy it. Next I get attacked by Isabel. Because it was a surprise attack, I lose 2 cities. But soon the weight of 13 civs brings her down. I take down her cities while her armies are busy elsewhere. I destroy her holy city. Without her leadership, I crush the Japanese and Incans.

Then suddenly Ghengis converts to Christianity. If you've read the news you know what happens to those people... Ghengis is eliminated. Along with his holy city. My allies beg me to finish off Ghandi, the last blashphemer. But I tell them that everyone needs an enemy (also its pretty handy for diplo win :) So then I wait another few hundred years, build the U.N. and get 12/13 votes. Islam wins. My first diplo win and my first "religion" win. Maybe not all that impressive but I though it was pretty cool.

I had a religious war once! But it was a very small one since it was on a pangea setting, tiny size and only 3 civs. France, France (yes an other one) and England. I was one of the France's and France was my ally since we were both christian and England was Hindu; I invaded western England while the other France invaded the western part and it lost a couple of cities to England! Stupid AI, after England was taken over, I double crossed the other France for that mistake and I won a conquest game, duh!

good job

speaking of religious wars, in my current game I am doing a massive religious that is somewhat different. Unlike your game I have many religions, however I, like you, only follow one. My game had been somewhat like this. I disovered an early religion and spread to all but one civ. I then declared war on that civ and had evryones support. I was able to make it so that there was absolutly no wa he could reach me because he was blocked in by other civs since he did not have any open borders. I easily killed that civ. I then built missionaries of a heathen religion en masse and turned another civ into a heathen and destroy him and I have been continuing this process for quite a while. I have destroyed five civs with very little/no risk of a counter attack and I also did not get any -1 penalties for "you declared war on our friend." I think I may continue this process till I get a conquest or domination win. The only thing I fear is that the civs are coming close/ already have the technology to have free religion which would mean I would get little support/resitance as soon as civs started switching to free religion. I hopw I can destroy enough before that (p.s. in real life I am very anti-war/ pacifist).
