I've been playing Terra maps latly, but I find I like winning with domination or conquest...

however, when I tried to a peaceful solution today I was quite able to get to the 'new world' before my counterparts... and captured two large barbarian citys and settled about 6 others...

the trick is, is it worth it? I usually find that my original citys on the main continent are both easier to maintain and they are quite able to keep up with tech and military... whats the point of the new world?

Resources are typically available in the new world to provide happiness and health.

The trade brings good research.

After you have established a remote palace (forbidden or otherwise), then you literally have a lot of open space to build an empire.

Dominance of the new world means more than doubling cities and land.

It is always a worthwhile investment to settle the new world.
