View Full Version : Turn 1, 3960 BC
Ginger_Ale Apr 16, 2006, 08:28 AM Welcome to the Start of the Civ4 MTDG! :D
The following includes instructions on playing this turn (3960 BC - 4000 BC was needed for password reasons) as well as for all turns in this game.
Here is the turn sending order (note: it is different than the roster sign-up order!):
Loco
Piffle
Aloha
Innovia
Epsilon
So Team Aloha, you will be receiving the save from Team Piffle (TeamPiffle AT gmail DOT com), and you will send it to Team Innovia (team.innovia AT gmail DOT com). Also send a copy to the admins! (emails are in the Team Info thread in the main forum). Please remember that you have 24 hours to play the save once you receive it unless you request an extension. Also, keep in mind that once you have played the save, to record it in the Turn Tracker / Save Info thread in the main MTDG forum.
When saving the turn, please use the default saving convention in game.
Without more talk, your starting location in the map courtesy by Sirian (be sure to thank him!) is attached.
Your password for the save is: pinacolada
You are free to discuss this, as well as where you should explore, research, settle, etc., but remember: we will not send the starting save to Team Loco until the current Ruleset poll in the main forum is done, so that's a bit of an incentive! ;)
Enjoy the game!
by RegentMan and Ginger_Ale, Administrators, with thanks to Sirian, Map Maker
Robi D Apr 16, 2006, 08:33 AM :woohoo:We are underway:D
:worship: Big thanks to Sirian, I can't believe he's done it so quickly.
Good Job:goodjob:
ybbor Apr 16, 2006, 09:35 AM Let's get to work!
I propose we send the scout first south (rice), and then southwest (hills). I also think we should where we are, so we can settle immediately and have access to both rice and fish.
The Domestic minister is in charge of settlement, and the President (myself) is in charge of exploration and military units as I understand it. The constitution is here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=162233) btw.
BCLG100 Apr 16, 2006, 09:46 AM Im not sure if George is away though....
Anyways i agree with both settling and moving where we are. This could be a very productive city.
Are we going to go straight towards animal husbandry for the pigs?
GeorgeOP Apr 16, 2006, 09:50 AM I'm away from cIV, but not from the internet. I agree with Ybbor, move scout and settle where we are unless we see something really, really, really good to the south.
ybbor Apr 16, 2006, 09:53 AM oh yes, that's right, I need technology orders (and by extension slider orders) from domestic as well
BCLG100 Apr 16, 2006, 09:54 AM I'm away from cIV, but not from the internet. I agree with Ybbor, move scout and settle where we are unless we see something really, really, really good to the south.
Ah ok thats it, thinking about it, is there maybe a point to moving the scout north west then north, just to make sure there isnt something up there in the first turn, so we could move our setler one space north and settle the other side of the river.
GeorgeOP Apr 16, 2006, 09:57 AM We would lose the pigs and at least one hill (it looks like two) by moving to the other side of the river. I can't see much up there that would cause me to want to move.
BCLG100 Apr 16, 2006, 09:59 AM Yer me either, i think we have a good spot where we are but we should still check north first incase there is.
Kuningas Apr 16, 2006, 11:03 AM I suggest we begin to research Agriculture to work rice resource.
GeorgeOP Apr 16, 2006, 11:43 AM Agriculture to work the rice, then the Wheel to hook it up, then Animal Husbandry to work the pigs, then Pottery to start Cottages. We are financial, so starting those cottages early will really get our economy going.
robboo Apr 16, 2006, 01:35 PM head northwest and north or northeast.--I think we are on a small peninsula.
build warrior..to go south
research agriculture or go for a religion..
/I will come back later on adn address thses in each thread and start my team captain thread. Easter adn my sons birthday...I have to go put together a big wheel bike thing.
Ginger_Ale Apr 16, 2006, 07:06 PM PS: You can actually just use the default saving convention in game!
robboo Apr 18, 2006, 09:51 AM All votes are in for Ruleset..I think we are about to start.
BCLG100 Apr 18, 2006, 09:59 AM So which way is the scout moving, i think it should move north just to check were not missing anything before settling
ybbor Apr 18, 2006, 10:33 AM So which way is the scout moving, i think it should move north just to check were not missing anything before settling
from the Presidential thread:
I'll move to the plains going NW and then NE
robboo Apr 18, 2006, 06:04 PM HEADS UP...Save sent to Loco...the game has begun
BCLG100 Apr 20, 2006, 11:13 AM And now we have it, hope your fully patched now ybbor!
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 11:51 AM crap..does this mean I have to wake up at 4am so check if I have to play the turn...:)
//joking...I know yybor(ybbor) is going to play it.
Dumb newbie question: is there any advantage to holding on to the turn for a few hours even if we play it in the first hour or should we play it as soon as possible and send it on. I am curious not for now..since little has to be decide but for the future.
Kuningas Apr 20, 2006, 12:39 PM Save has been in mailbox for 15 hours. We should play asap.
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 01:13 PM our CoL state I have to wait 19 hours before playing...also their post in the turntracker was at 8am my time so that was what I was going by. I am not concerned about it not being played by our President.
Dont worry I will play it before it expires if our President doesnt. I dont want to step on his toes on the first turn. :)
BCLG100 Apr 20, 2006, 02:23 PM Think we should adjust the time though, 19 hours could be fairly difficult with people being dotted the other side of the world.
Ginger_Ale Apr 20, 2006, 02:59 PM From the time I got the save (and Team Aloha too), it has been 17 hours. Piffle didn't post in the Turn Tracker thread immeadiately after playing, so I had to remind them, which is why the time is a bit skewed. Just try to get the save done within the next 7 hours or so.
BCLG100 Apr 20, 2006, 03:03 PM So give it 3/4 hours until you play it robboo if ybbor hasnt :)
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 03:23 PM I will play when its time.
ybbor..sorry..if you miss it. I will post here first then play it
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 03:44 PM Here is what I have picked up from everyones threads
1. Move scout to plains NW then NE
2. Settle in place if nothing interesting is found by scout
3. Name city Aloha
4. Build Warrior
5. Research Agriculture
I will play it in approx...15 to 25 minutes...in order to give our President the honor of first turn.
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 04:11 PM I am playing the save now.I will take screenshots and report back. First I will PM ybbor and tell him I played the save.
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 04:42 PM Nothing exciting..screenshots and turn 2 thread wil be started.
Saw clams but they are far away and I think the water to our East might be a lake.( gut feeling based on AI maps so who knows with this one.)
BCLG100 Apr 20, 2006, 04:58 PM Ok thats cool, are we just going to keep creating threads after every save or are we going to condense them into one thread?
Kuningas Apr 20, 2006, 05:25 PM Saw clams but they are far away and I think the water to our East might be a lake.( gut feeling based on AI maps so who knows with this one.)
Indeed. It is a lake, there is two food on water tile. Very powerful tile with harbor we get 3 food and 3 commerce.
ybbor Apr 20, 2006, 05:51 PM Indeed. It is a lake, there is two food on water tile. Very powerful tile with harbor we get 3 food and 3 commerce.
actually, harbor doesn't affect lakes.
and for the record, It's no big deal that you (robboo) played.
1)I was counting on the turn-tracker thread. that creates a problem when they didn't post right away. with the time they sent it, I would have played it right away.
2)I have school. so playable times are from 4-10pm (CDT) (the reason this post is late is because I'm recovering from bronchitis and had to stay after to make up some work. In fact, if not for this one-day thing, I would have played the save before robboo stepped in)
3)even with the late post in the turn-tracker I would be playing the save right now, 20 hours, which I guess while not great, is well within the 24 time-limit. and not that bad for how late it was posted
So essentially, between the bronchitis, and the late post by Piffle, this should have been the exception, not the rule. I know this probably doesn't reflect well on me (to say the least :p), but it's great that we have a good team and constitution to respond to the situation before it came in danger of becoming an issue.
BCLG100 Apr 20, 2006, 06:02 PM Dont worry about it ybbor just get better soon, were all so eager to get on with the game that your lucky one of us didnt just play it after a minute :)
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 06:09 PM I almost waited but I didnt want George to have to step in and I knew if I walked away and went make supper I would probably watch TV or drink a beer and forget you guys.
In no way shape or form does this reflect badly on you. Now if you would have been posting all over the forum and not playing that would be different. :p
Remember..I am a stay at home dad/at home business owner who plays too much on the internet..so I will be able to check at least 16 to 18 of every 24 hours period..unless I am out of town.
ybbor Apr 20, 2006, 09:16 PM I have now set up a filter so every e-mail we recieve with an attachment is forwarded to my inbox. :) this'll help protect us in case we get another late turntracker posting :D
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 09:18 PM Does a copy of it still go to the gmail account??
ybbor Apr 20, 2006, 09:34 PM yes .
robboo Apr 20, 2006, 10:33 PM Turns out I screwed up after all...I did not include the word team in innovia email. I resent it . My mistake.
I am setting up a contact list on the gmail. Double check it someone and should we add our own emails to it???
GeorgeOP Apr 21, 2006, 12:17 AM Just for the record, and please remember this, I will not play the save. Just skip me if it ever comes down to me. I'm in and out of the internet and sometimes spend several days away from cIV.
BCLG100 Apr 21, 2006, 08:59 AM We did at TNT, mines kinda obvious just my username at hotmail.com.
I think after 19 hours we should just let anyone play it
robboo Apr 21, 2006, 09:35 AM I disagree..we need order. Lets just keep the play order as described and if we run in to problems then we can change it. I would not mind letting the 19 hour limit being shorter...say 15 hours..
OH and heads uP piffle has the save ..we are next up.
