Start with each unit's XML definition in Civ4UnitInfos and find its art definition. That will take you to the corresponding entry in Civ4ArtDefinesUnit.xml, in which you will find the following tags: TrainSound; and AudioRunSounds (AudioRunTypeLoop, AudioRunTypeEnd, SelectionSound, ActionSound). Each of these will, in turn, lead you to entries in Civ4TerrainInfos.xml (for loopsteps, as they are different on different terrain) and Audio3DScripts.xml (for action sounds). (The Civ4TerrainInfos entries actually point to Audio3DScripts, so really all roads lead there). In Audio3DScripts find the entry you're looking for and then the node SoundID. This then refers you to the corresponding entry in AudioDefines.xml, and your search is ended at last when you find the Filename node. This is what you'd want to edit to have it point elsewhere. Of course, your other option is just to rename your existing sound file (.wav) to match the one you want to replace and put it in the appropriate folder of your mod! But the steps above will help you identify exactly which file you need to replace. BuddhaBubba Apr 18, 2006, 11:16 PM wow, thanks for the info that is a long trail to follow...for simplicity i'll go with your original suggestion and replace the .wav files with my own...i just want to hear my medieval peasants say "yes mi'lord" in a cockney accent :) Padmewan Apr 19, 2006, 12:15 AM Aha... well those you will need to look in your Civilizations > Civ4CivilizationInfos file for CivilizationSelectionSound and CivilizationActionSound, which in turn point you to the 3D files as described above... g/l! Thorn Apr 19, 2006, 07:47 AM I replaced the actual sound file. I was tired of hearing the screaming when I took a city so I replaced it with the 'boots marching' sound that Civ2 plays when you take a city. Much, much better :D surdanis Feb 27, 2008, 08:23 AM K, WHAT ABOUT... Air units? I can't find the tag to change the Bomber or Fighter...! |
