This scenario requires SevoMod v2.9 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=167461) or CivGold v1.1 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=165969) installed!!!

Hi, do you like sevomod or civgold? Lookie lookie hieer...

Map
The map is a standard (90x50) sized map. It has quite accurate proportions compared to the real earth.
All bonuses are placed where they are likely to be found, like rice in asia.
But they are also been placed for balance.

Settings
All settings are defaults, except that i have enabled Raging barbarians and Permanent alliances.
This suits the scenario well but can easily be disabled by entering custom scenario.

Civs
The map contains 16 civs with fairly modern leaders, from a timespan of the last few houndred years.
All civs start with a settler and warrior on their correct first city location.
And they all start with their two starting techs.

The civs and leaders are as follow:

Europa:
England-------Victoria
Germany------Bismarck
Spain---------Isabella
Albania--------Gjergj Kastrioti
Asia:
Turkey--------Ataturk
China---------Mao Zedong
India----------Gandhi
Japan---------Tokugawa
Russia---------Cathrine
Aborigines-----Yagan
Africa:
Nguni----------Cetshwayo
Maasai---------Lenana
Abyssinians-----Menelik II
America:
America--------Roosevelt
Canada---------MacDonald
Cherookee------Ostenaco <-- (only for SevoMod!)

Post and let me know if some civs appear too strong or too weak in your game, so i can do some balance editing.

Enjoy!:)

----UPDATED 04/26 2006-- gamespeed set optional, french civ removed, goodies added, balance editing----

Yeah the thing is that i didnt find a nice large earth map to bace it on. Huge is too big for both me and my pc... So i found a nice standard one and tweaked it alot and placed this scenario. I appeal to others to make a nice large sevomod earth scenario. With this map im thinking about cutting a couple of civs out to make a bit more room for the other civs. Should I?

I'm happy that you included Albania with Gjergj Kastrioti :D Great choice!

A bigger map would be nicer though.

PS - sweetpete, you sound familiar? ... does "SK" mean anything to you?

17 are way to many civs for this map, but people can just comment out the ones not wanted.

I agree, huge maps are slow, particularly if you add a mod. I ended up removing the American continent from the standard earth map, and play that with 10 civs, making sure I was in Western Europe, and kill off my closest neighbours (england, france, germany, spain, greece, rome), then the game blanced out pretty well, and it was playable to the end on a new athlon with a gig ram, and half a gig on the video card.

After you download the map you first unzip it by pressing unzip files in upper right corner. Then you place the mapfile in your firaxis/civilizationIV/publicmaps directory. Then in the game enter play scenario and select the one called modernearth(90x50)...
And then you're laughing mate!

I think the map is on the right size, dont make ir bigger. In the latter game turns start to take seconds (amd64 3200+7800gt+2gb ram) so the size is good. Plz do not remove anyone! But what about american, aztecs and incas instead of canadians+cherokee? With americans more to the north and incas down south america we would have a more balanced america. Also you could put some mountains north of India, and less resources near albania. In the 3 games I played both of them were the most powerfull. Also I would like to ask you to adapt it to sevo 3.0. There are no gas resources in the map. They should be in: Bolivia, Venezuela, Alasca, Russia (near caspian sea), at least.

Thanks for the map, congratulations!

Thank you!
I also like the size and i wount make it bigger.
As to america i agree it should me more balanced but i think i will stick to having fairly modern civilisations, so incas and aztecs i will probably not add. I would however very much like to add a brazilian or argentinian civ to south america... But for now its no modern south american civ in sevomod. Mountains north of india, less resourses near albania and gas where you mention i can add in my next update. Thanks for the advise.
As to adapting the scanario to 3.0 i will probably not do yet. I havent played CIV4 in a month or so and i dont think i will play until i get the Warlords expansion pack. Then i will wait to sevomod is warlords compatable and then i will update the scanario so its both warlords and sevomod compatble, and hopefully balance america and adress the other isues.

Hi Sweetepete,

Now that sevomod is frozen, would u consider making a map this size for Total Realism?
